It was clear to me that they really know each of their cats and care for them very well--they took the time to get to know me and understand what I was looking for, and suggested a cat who seemed like the perfect fit. They both were eager to answer all of my many questions throughout the process and even helped me out by dropping my new kitty off since I don't have a car. My girl had a few minor health issues after arriving (most likely due to the stress of moving/change in food) and Susan offered me advice about different things I could try and followed up numerous times to make sure she was settling in okay. The process overall couldn't have been any smoother and I am so appreciative of Guardian Angels and the care and diligence they put into finding good homes for all of their cats. If I ever decide to adopt another cat I'll definitely work with them again.

All have vet visits, great food, and most importantly, attention and caring to help their transition from whatever their previous situation was. The fostering process is great at getting the cats ready for their new homes. If you're looking for a cat, I suggest Guardian Angels without reservation!

Our Goldendoodle has suffered from allergies most of her life. It started slowly, mostly with…read moregastro issues, and then branched out into environmental issues over the years. She was a frequent flier to the vet and had to get monthly allergy injections to keep her comfortable. After being on a prescription hydrolyzed protein food for a while, she was having a hard time. Our vet suggested we see a Dermatologist. Enter Dr. Painter. I should have played the lottery the day we went to see her because it was for sure a lucky day. We met over the phone due to Covid. Never having met face-to-face, she listened to all the ups and downs for our dog. She never made me feel like a burden or bother - she was engaged and genuinely interested. Post our chat and our dog's in-person visit - Dr. Painter easily laid out a plan for her. She had seen other dogs like ours and recommended a new food and additional interventions. Our dog was in excellent hands. As if we needed additional proof, most recently, our dog ended up in the ER with her most severe allergic reaction ever. Unfortunately, the ER doctor was a generalist and couldn't pinpoint the issue. So, I emailed Dr. Painter photos of the breakout without a second thought. Within a few minutes, she responded with a diagnosis and intervention. Our dog was made comfortable and in stable condition. We followed up with Dr. Painter and now understand the issue and a long-term care plan for our dog. We are glad Dr. Painter came back to the East Coast and that she can be a part of our dog's care. She and her team always show genuine care for both pets and humans. We can't recommend her enough for anyone looking for a knowledgeable, engaged, and superly awesome human being who also happens to be an excellent dermatologist. Our consult was with Nance, and she was very patient in explaining the process and talking us through some initial things that we were struggling with. Then, we started with a training package that included 3 private training classes and 2 months of group obedience classes. We also went to a few puppy kindergarten classes. Nicole did the majority of our trainings and she has been a god-sent. She is very good with the dogs, and her energy level makes the training classes fun both for us and our dog. We learned a lot from Nicole and she helped us to feel a lot less stressed out and actually enjoy the puppyhood. The obedience class is set up like a monthly subscription, where you can go to as many classes as you want. We end up going about 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes, as it is a great activity to mentally exercise our dog and provide socialization while working alongside other dogs. We also started bringing our dog to their dog day camp 2x a week. Tim was also very patient in explaining the process. The dog day camp has been great in getting her to play with other dogs and allows her to learn obedience from others aside from us.

It's remarkable to see the progress that they make with her and how much they enjoy their training sessions! Nance adapts her training sessions to the needs of the individual dog and she is quick to assess how they learn best. She is always patient, kind, and encouraging. We are so lucky to have her expertise, she has changed the lives of so many dogs!

Save A Dog is truly the best thing that ever happened to me. I filled out an application online in…read moreOctober 2017 (Recommend doing this before you go for a meet and greet) and I decided to go to a meet and greet to me the couple dogs I was interested in. This was my first time adopting so I wasn't 100% sure what to expect and it was busy the day I went. Everything was very organized and the woman up at the front was lovely and so was everyone that I spoke with up until it was my turn to meet the dogs. They brought the first little guy out (Humphrey who I adopted) and I immediately knew he was the pup for me. He was spunky but I could also tell he was confused and a little unsure. They went over in depth about how he resource guards over food, and I have quite a bit of experience with training a dog out of that behavior. They also went over how he was missing a couple teeth but his health check was clear. After I met Humphrey I told them I was 100% interested in adopting him. The holistic approach was already something I was planning to follow for any dog I was planning to adopt, so the fact that this was a holistic shelter was the icing on the cake! Shirley the owner talks with every potential adopter and she was absolutely lovely. Since then I if I have any questions or concerns regarding anything, I email her and she gets back super quickly. 7 1/2 months later Humphrey has blossomed more the I ever could of imagined and he is truly the light of my life and very trainable. Save a Dog would be the first shelter I would look to for another rescue! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, -Naomi & Humphrey
