Upon walking into the office today, the front desk asked us to sign in, and the first words she utters are "you're late". Yes, our appointment was scheduled for 11:15am. Yes, we are checking in at just after 11:30am. But if my baby is showing signs of hunger at 10:58am, you better believe I will feed my child rather than deal with Armageddon to arrive on time. Next, she refers to my child as a boy when that's incorrect, then even says "I don't know how to say this baby's name" while on the phone with billing. What could've been done is to put yourself on a moments hold and ask me "I'm sorry, but how do you pronounce your baby's name?" I don't know, but that's just customer service training, and an individual with common courtesy, would maybe do. When we're finally taken to the back, the staff and doctor are telling me to sit down to help with my postpartum swelling, telling us how baby is doing great, and even offer the nursing room towards the end of our appointment when signs of hunger are apparent. A completely different experience from our arrival. But that's not to say it was the same during our initial visit. During our initial visit, the front staff were understanding and joked with us that it's expected, especially with new parents, to run behind schedule, so we shouldn't feel stressed. Someone working the front desk today obviously missed the memo. It was a completely night and day experience.

Um, the ER is who said to do a follow up with you. Do your research there are better doctors for your kids around here.

In 2015 Mr. Ramos misdiagnosed my then 3 year old daughter. I expressed that I believed she had a…read moreUTI, I was told no it was "vaginitis" and sent home with a cream. Symptoms seemed to subside after a week. At the time I was also giving her cranberry juice and d'mannose for urinary track health. Fast forward a week later, as we are driving home from my baby sisters funeral, may daughter begins to vomit in the car. We pull over she has a 104 fever. I call the office and schedule a visit for when we return home (next day). We go to the appointment and AGAIN I'm dismissed when I bring up the UTI and told it is a virus. We see Dr. Ramos's office 3 more times, I call the nurse line as what to do still being pushed as a VIRUS. Well that Friday morning I take her in, her fever is now 107 Dr Ramos FINALLY draws blood and decided to send her to the ER. We get there I tell them I believe she has a UTI and ask them ONCE to check her urine. 10 minus later 4 doctors come in to tell me she has a horrible UTI that has travel to her bladder and kidneys. GO FUGURE. Dr. Ramos NEVER calls or goes to see her as she had a week hospital stay. My husband even lost his job over the hospital stay. Now fast forward to the follow up visit. Dr. Ramos and his wife & two nurses surround me, my children and husband in the exam room. He tells me he doesn't want to see us anymore because I wanted to find a new doctor and that ruined our doctor patient relationship. He even had his daughter reach out to me via Facebook messenger (how professional). He tried to scold me when HE MISDIAGNOSED my daughter and almost killed her. To boot I was sent a bill for the unnecessary week long doctors room visits. Which I paid IN CASH on 3 different occasions and their receptionist never noted in our account. I have called the office multiple times asking the account balance be reflective of the amount paid. They have refused, refuse to return calls and now I have a $400 bill in collections. I also want to add my daughter has LIFE LONG complications now. She suffers from kidney reflux which was induced by the damage done by his negligence. Parents, RUN dont walk out of his office. His is RUDE, condescending and dismisses symptoms for his "natural minded" benefit. I do not want another child to suffer at his hands. I know my daughter isn't the only one as many moms have reached out privately but are too afraid to come public. Well I am not. This is our story, our truth.

Dr. Ramos believes, and so do I, that the vaccination schedule that doctors are told to abide by now a days are severe. (But, still believes vaccinations are important.) The only issues I had ever had while having my son be a patient at his practice, was that Ramos could be a tad critical and harsh. He's a very blunt man who will tell you like it is. Which is very much appreciated and would really take the time to answer any and all questions you have. But, sometimes if you don't agree with him or ask a question that he doesn't like, he would make it known. And also, I have always had the privilege of staying home with my son, so when I told Dr. Ramos that I would want my son to have a vaccination during certain visits, he would usually lecture me and say that since he wasn't in daycare that it wasn't that critical that he have shots now...We didn't see eye to eye on this....But, he would always respect my wishes. I also have always loved the staff, nurses, receptionists, lactation specialist, etc. Which is also a huge bonus! He has a lactation specialist that is in his office certain days of the week and she has her own office inside his practice. So, when I was having issues with my newborn being tongue-tied, making an appointment with the lactation specialist REALLY helped. I am no longer in Savannah, but I strongly recommend Dr. Ramos as your child's pediatrician!!!

They say HI! to everyone else though... they also took three and a half weeks to get forms I needed for my child's school filled out for me when they said it would only take 24-48 hours and when they were finished they were still not finished completely. So they said in another 24-48 hours they'll have them ready, but who knows ! I also am new to the area, and see there is a recent bad review from another person who was new to the area- so I want to add, my child is also fully vaccinated, and there wasn't any issues with that. He also is a new patient who I do plan on bringing back regularly - not that that should even matter but, if that is the cause of the animosity, then it shouldn't be. It is tough already being new to an area without everyone being incredibly rude.

Her behavior was noticeably rude and made an already stressful appointment even more difficult. As a nurse and healthcare leader within MUSC, I understand that healthcare professionals have demanding jobs. However, I was disappointed by the lack of empathy, compassion, and professionalism that was displayed, particularly when caring for young children and interacting with concerned parents. When I asked why a hemoglobin test was necessary, my intention was simply to understand whether a finger stick could be avoided for my already distressed 12-month-old. Rather than providing an explanation or acknowledging my concern, I was told, "I don't know, every baby gets it done at 12 months." The response felt dismissive, and her demeanor suggested that my question was unreasonable, despite it being a straightforward request for information about my child's care. Later, I requested a copy of my son's vaccination records because he was preparing to start daycare. After receiving the records, I asked whether the vaccines administered during that day's visit had been included. In response, she appeared irritated and replied, "I just told you they are updated records." Again, the interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive. Most concerning was the complete lack of compassion shown toward my son while he was visibly upset during the finger stick and vaccinations. Pediatric care requires not only clinical competence but also patience, kindness, and reassurance for both children and their parents. Prior to this visit, I have had consistently positive experiences with Neighbors Pediatrics and have always appreciated the care provided by the clinical staff and providers. Unfortunately, this encounter stood in stark contrast to those experiences and left a lasting negative impression.
