This is a great substitute in Frederick, given that there's no Lush around (I'm actually surprised). Plenty of handmade soaps and scrubs for you to try. It's a small shop, but it's packed with items. Now, I'm going to keep it real. The scents of the soaps here are very hit or miss. It's either the best soap scent you've ever smelled, or it's "What the heck? Has this gone bad? Can soap go bad?" I guess this is what you get with a local business; they have a lot of time to cook up new stuff and do trial and error to see what works and what doesn't. A couple of my favorites include "Oh, Honey" and "Almondzilla." Fresh smelling neutral scents for men and women alike. I particularly like that "Oh, Honey" has large oats and grains and honey in it, which act as both exfoliates and skin softener as you use the soap! Savage Soaps also has ties to local business, which I also think is cool. For example, they've paired up with Flying Dog to make a few different products, such as a Flying Dog Pale Ale soap, made with the actual beer. I even scored a free beer voucher in one of my soap boxes valid over at Brewer's Alley. Overall, it's definitely a fair place to go if you like handmade soaps but you don't have time to regularly go to another place like Lush. And it's a local business so if that's the kind of place you like to shop at, then you're also getting that as well.

I'm pretty cheap and don't like to spend much on these sort of things (totally not a girly girl!). I was here with a girlfriend and decided to splurge a little. This was actually my 2nd time here and I highly recommend the products here. Picked up this handy dandy little hair towel that was worth every penny. I took it to work to use at the gym and it dries my hair so fast - without pulling on it. Patti hand-picks the items and the quality is top-notch. I'm super picky about skin care, scents, etc., but I have been 110% pleased with everything I've purchased here. And, you get 1:1 service which is so nice. Mostly skin care, lotions, makeup, hand soap, etc. Selection is small but again, quality items are what you'll find here.

The Japanese towels, mascara, skin care products, and makeup have all turned out to be great purchases. She introduced me to Jane Iredale cosmetics. If you look this makeup line on EWG's Skin Deep database, this line is rated as being a particularly clean cosmetic line. My sensitive skin has done well with this line. Patti and her staff are great at picking out colors and made helpful recommendations to change up my tired makeup routine. Patti's facials are so relaxing and helpful. She doesn't have many open slots. I went into the shop a day she was there and got on her schedule several weeks out and slowly got into her schedule. She is knowledgeable, skilled, and professional. But I also appreciate her warmth, intelligence, and elevating life outlook.

Try somewhere else…read more My sons 1yr old iPad 9th generation accidentally had a 15 pound dumbbell fall from a short height onto the screen (less than 6in) and it cracked in 2 places. Thankfully because the height was short there was no pixel damage, the screen had normal responsiveness, and otherwise the iPad appeared to function normally. I work long hours so had the iPad at home for 4 days prior to bringing it to Techy, June 26. Bringing it in they told me it would be 189.99 for the screen repair and with taxes that came out to just above $200. I probably should have walked away at this point but hindsight is 20/20 and they said it would be done within a day or 2 and i was going on vacation the following week so just wanted the work done. Plus on Google reviews they had a 5 star rating with a decent number of reviews so I decided to go through with the work. So they called me and said it was done the same day i brought it in. Unfortunately I was already at work so came to pick it up the next day (Day 2). They said during their testing that the screen kept turning on and off (this didn't happen before I brought it in and like I mentioned I had it for 4 days broken before bringing it in) so they would need another day to fix the problem. No problem. Thankfully I live close by. They call later that day and say it's done. Again I'm at work so have to wait until the next day. Next day (Day 3) comes and I get a call that it isn't charging so they need another day. Next day (Day 4, June 30) comes and this is what I pick up. Mind you there was never any crack or damage to the button. I wish I had taken a picture of what the broken screen looked like prior but unfortunately I didnt. When questioning them about it they said they had to reseat the button multiple times and this is unfortunately the best they could do. The button is loose in the seating plus a visible gap so I'm sure all kinds of dust and debris will get inside. Also the previous button has Touch ID capabilities and this new one does not. The worst part is that there is a warranty on the screen if it stops working but I asked about if the button is covered under the warranty and it of course isn't. I also noticed some small cracks that look to be under the new screen. They don't seem to impact the functionality of the screen and is just more a cosmetic defect so im not as worried about that. Plus if the screen stops functioning due to a tech issue that's at least covered. I'm devastated. I expected much better quality work for $200. I feel like I got scammed. The one good point is all the staff was very nice and professional. The visible appearance of the shop is nice and clean. I want to clarify I am not unhappy with the time it took for them to do the work just the overall quality of work and price together. I have no problem if you need extra time to do good work. Update: July 27th the button has completely stopped working. So less than a month. I also have noticed that I've had issues accessing my sons Apple ID which has me very concerned and this wasn't a problem prior. I don't even want to take it back to have them potentially ruin it more so here I am with a broken iPad out $200 with a potential security issue.

I was able to book an appointment for me and the girls to make lipstick or lipgloss! Super excited!!!! Walking into the studio left a lot to be desired, I wasn't greeted with warm and friendly energy more like a blank look. Once confirmed on the books we got assigned an artist who was actually very friendly and excited to help us. Yaaay!!! Glad we did! The decor of the studio was neat and cute but It missed something : I don't feel they gave us an experience. We had to ask questions about the company and product. No one broke down the story or educated us on everything they offered. When asked what was the lipstick made of ? ..... both artist looked confused and handed us each an ingredient sheet. Giving me the feeling they didn't know what was in it! I will say our artist was sweet and helpful, she offered suggestions on how to obtain the desired colors but she didn't walk us step by step on how it all works. (not in detail) this would have created a more engaging experience. I love the idea of this business and think it's an amazing concept.... but the experience is what sales and we walked out paying 28 buck( social media discount) and not really sure what we paid for. I think it would also be better if they allowed the customer to be more involved in the making ..... more then just picking out the colors. The product itself was just okay... the pigment of the colors came out very light.

Sadly I didn't have time during that visit to experience all the studio had to offer. That lipstick quickly became my favorite, so when I lost it I had to replace it! I stopped back in this past Saturday and they were able to pull up my old recipe and re-create it on the spot! Since I was there, I decided to get some help with my foundation issues. At the age of 41 I have just begun to wear foundation, and the goop I bought at CVS just didn't match my face. I walked out with a "Magic Wand" that really does cover my dark under eye spots without making me look wrinkly, custom foundation with SPF, some kind of fairy dust that makes my face look pore-less, and my two lipsticks. I also walked out with a ton of tips and tricks that taught me how to use some of the cosmetics I already invested in. All the products are natural, and the stylist explained what each was made of, how to apply, and why it was good for my face. (Their products follow form and function). That night I got carded (woo hoo!). The next day I went to a fancy schmancy restaurant in DC and the hostess told me my eyes "popped." Prices are in line with what you would pay at a department store makeup counter, but Smooch Studio products are CUSTOM and CLEAN! Plus its locally owned and such a fun place to visit.
