He took the time to explain the difference between each type of oil for me which made me feel a lot more comfortable about coming here. I normally go to the Porsche dealership when I need a top off, but there wasn't one in Newport Beach so a European car shop recommended O'Reilly. I asked the cashier if he could put the oil in my car for me and he said sure, found someone to cover the register for him, and put the oil in my car. We talked about him getting a Porsche one day and he was a really nice kid. I'm so thankful for his incredible customer service.

AutoZone Costa Mesa completely changed my perception of AutoZone. At several Los Angeles locations, I've left feeling ignored, judged, or uncomfortable, especially when I don't fit someone's stereotypical idea of a person who knows about cars. Costa Mesa was a complete 180. Despite being busy, the staff was welcoming and attentive. Three different employees checked to make sure I was being helped, and I saw them treating customers from all different backgrounds with the same respect. Then I met Manny. I needed a new battery for my 2001 Buick Park Avenue, and Manny was knowledgeable, calm, and incredibly patient. I'm learning to maintain my car myself, and instead of taking over or making me feel naive, he encouraged me to try installing it. When he saw me struggling, he offered to help and walked me through the process so I could actually LEARN. That meant a lot. I walked away with more confidence in myself and my vehicle. Even the district manager who I believe was visiting made sure I was taken care of before leaving. To Manny and the entire Costa Mesa team working September 23: thank you. AutoZone, recognize these employees. Good customer service is one thing--making someone feel respected, comfortable, and capable is another. I'll absolutely be back. Five stars!

My service advisor, Mr. Jose, was amazing. I haven't been back to this location for service in years. It is now a very welcoming space. I've been bringing my Fiat here for years because it's hard to find someone who works on Fiats and…read moreevery time I do, I've had a less-than-good experience. The TLDR is they have expectation management problems, are disorganized, and don't take your issues seriously. Here's a summary of a few problems I've had: - I got a voice message saying that they'd update me by end of day a few days after I brought my car in. When they didn't, I called them & asked what happened only to learn they hadn't even looked at my car. They then lectured me on being patient because their Fiat guy was busy, even though their own mechanic was the one who gave me a timeline. - In December 2025, my car had a huge change: the fan would stay on for minutes after I parked no matter how long I had driven. They told me "we didn't find anything but it could be the start of a problem." In June 2026, I brought in my car for another problem and asked them to look at the fan again. They said there's no problem. The second time I drive my car after this, the high coolant temperature warning goes off. They charged me over $800 to fix it. Less than 80 miles later, the SAME alert went off. - When I decided to tow my car from them to another place, they struggled to find my car and car keys. They didn't even seem to know that I had brought my car in the night before and had to ask for help. - They use an AI assistant (Sarah) and don't disclose it's AI. Sarah wrote that they could find someone to custom make me a new hubcap. When I get to the dealer, they had no idea why I was there and when I told them about what I needed fixed, they said they couldn't help me with several things like the hubcap. And when I told them Sarah said they could, they were like, "Oh yeah, Sarah is AI."
