Here in New York, I had a beautiful large painting by James Brandess, Saugatuck Dunes. It was time to sell the painting that had been the center of our interior design for years, we received countless compliments on the beautiful large Brandess painting. A phone call, a voice (Brandess) on the phone, a lot of expense, a lot of work to crate, ship the painting to the Brandess Gallery resulted in a very nice check $$$ for me after the painting sold. Brandess is a professional he knew just how to price the painting that sold for full asking price quicky. Lucas the gallery manager is a great asset to Brandess Gallery. Lucas helped me buy a large giclee, Big Red, a lighthouse that I have framed and now hangs in my home, with a dozen Big Red cards, 2 coasters, and 2 magnets, to add to my collection lighthouses. Don't miss the Brandess Gallery gifts, notecards, coasters, calendars, magnets, at VERY reasonable prices. Bernard FitzGerald, Jr. THE EFFECTIVE PRESENTER, INC. It was not from a lack of want, but rather a combo of few different roadblocks: having other things going on when we were in town or not having programming that we were interested in when we were there or just not having anything scheduled at that time full stop. But we finally made it here for a bit this summer and it was as great as expected. First off, I still have not seen a show here, which is a great failing of ours, but we did explore the grounds and the building. It was a Friday afternoon and we were able to enjoy the farmer's and artisan's market going on in the parking lot. It's not a huge market but they do have multiple vendors covering the things you'd go look for--fresh fruits and veggies, eggs, honey and jams, etc. We had a great time checking out the stalls and vendors all nestled in between the beautiful blooming gardens around the building. Afterwards, we head inside the building to check it out. There wasn't much activity but we were lucky enough to see a few artists' gallery showcases which were moving and really engaging. It was an inspiring visit and we've made it our pledge to make sure we get to some performance there this year. I can't wait to see a show there!

Using sand from the Saugatuck area he has fashioned a number of shapes. The truly interesting thing about the process is the unique greenish color that is created by the sand. Currently the pieces are between 4-7 inches high. I'm looking forward to my next visit to see how he expands his exploration of sand from different geographies. I was initially drawn into the gallery by the bright, modern ceramic pieces which I gather was Jeff's original artistic pursuit. These vary in size probably 6-18 inches. Truly enjoyed speaking with the artist and being exposed to his enthusiasm for his new endeavor. Make sure you make time for this stop.

The artist/owner was there and he told us about some of his pieces, including these really cool vases that were inspired by fireflies - you can use a laser light to make patterns on them that glow for a second in the dark. It was so unique and unlike anything I'd ever seen before! He also makes glow in the dark glass pieces which were very interesting. He uses a lot of bold colors that I was drawn to. I didn't happen to notice any pricing because I wasn't really looking to buy anything, but he was so friendly and kind that I'd definitely stop in again when I'm in town next!
