We were passing through Düsseldorf for half a day and saw they're known for their Japanese food, so we decided to check out Takumi! They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. AJITAMA TONKOTSU RAMEN: I'm a tonkotsu person and almost always order this over other types of ramen. Not sure if I was just so severely deprived of Asian food, but I felt Takumi's tonkotsu ramen ranked pretty high on my list! And coming from SoCal as well as having lived down the street from both major Japanese food hubs in Los Angeles, that's saying a lot! Good amount of pork, the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture, and the broth was rich without being overly salty. I don't usually enjoy other types of ramen so I can't speak for those items from their menu. But I slurped my entire bowl of tonkotsu ramen dry! KARAAGE: Large pieces with crispy exterior and super juicy interiors! I wasn't expecting much but in the end I was super happy we ordered this. Overall, amazing tonkotsu ramen located in Düsseldorf's Little Tokyo.

Be sure to order it with vegan noodles if you want it vegan. The ramen came out in about 3 minutes! The portion is reasonable, with really nice, firm, al dente noodles, one piece of bok choy, a few slices of raw tomato, 3 pieces of fried tofu, and shaved green onion. The broth is of course what tends to make or break a ramen, and the broth here was excellent: nutty, lightly spicy, complex, without being too heavy. Really authentic tan tan men broth here. Not exceptional, hence the 4-star review, but damn impressive. I'd prefer some better toppings (e.g., replace the tomato with something like menma, kikurage, or something a little more authentic). Very friendly, appreciative Japanese service. Definitely recommended for great vegan/veggie ramen.

Gyoza waren maximal ok. Bleibt beim karaage und takoyaki Ramen technisch auf keinen Fall was scharfes, dann direkt Standard miso ramen.

They have about 10 "small" plates for €6.90 each and 10 "large" plates for €13.90 each. To start, I got the magic rolls, which come with tofu slices and soy sheets wrapped in seaweed, with some greens and edamame in a rich soy sauce-dominant marinade. This was super tasty, even if on the salty side, and came out in about 2 minutes. I got the pho chay for my main, which came out in about 10 minutes (after ordering). Now, I'm absolutely spoiled for top-quality vegan pho here I'm from (Vancouver, Canada), so I wasn't expecting much. Well, it's clear they put a lot of thought into the broth -- it has a nice five spice depth to it. I asked for their homemade chili oil to amp it up, which helped a lot. The pho comes with mixed veggies (broccoli, carrot, mushroom, zucchini, baby corn, and coriander), fried tofu, and medium-width rice nooodles. Not particular authentic but nicely done. Friendly, prompt service, reasonably priced and well-portioned. Definitely worth a stop when in Dusseldorf. I'd give this 3.5 if I could, but will round to 4 since I suspect it's pretty solid Vietnamese for Dusseldorf standards.
