I took my mother and my adult daughter on a Wednesday night. We had handicapped seats, which were first come first serve, so I wanted to arrive early and get a good seat. We arrived about an hour early, and were able to park just steps from the entrance. When we walked in, we saw a room full of concessions : soda, popcorn, cotton candy, nachos, and all of the usual circus foods. There were only about four other people inside the big tent, and we were worried that it was going to be an empty house. Little by little it started to fill up and it got to be about half full. The handicapped seats were really good, lower level center, about five or six rows back. Before the show and during intermission they had vendors coming around selling the cotton candy, popcorn, soda, and also chocolate covered apples, chocolate covered, strawberries, and all kinds of light up toys that were catching the eyes of children. There were a few children there, but not too many since it was a Wednesday night. The show started pretty much right on time. There were dancers, jugglers, and acrobats and all kinds of dazzling costumes. They opened up with a big production with many people, and then went into an act with an aerial performer who swung by her arms , her feet, her hair and who also juggled while suspended. There were several different acrobatic acts, men and women in groups completing daring feats of balance and all sorts of gymnastics that included platforms, ladders, and even blindfolds. They also had a modern clown who entertained the crowd between acts. During intermission dancers and acrobats walked around selling novelties and taking photographs that they would try to sell. (I doubt anyone got out of there without spending an extra $15-$10). Overall it was very entertaining and something a little out of the ordinary. I know they had special prices for children....so don't miss it if Cirque Italia comes to your town!

I believed I was using the Cirque Italia website but it turned out to be a secondary seller that tripled the price of tickets. The staff in North Miami is amazing! She started guitar lessons last year with Marcel and loved it! She participated in all their camps this Summer and had a blast learning and making new friends! This School feels like a community! The staff is very warm, welcoming & patient with all the kids. The owner, Nancy, is very sweet & always goes out of her way to make everyone feel important and tended to. We are blessed to have found such a loving community! My daughter starts the Performance Band Program next week, thankfully! She's been missing the staff, since Summer camp ended 2 weeks ago. In terms of her progress, now not only does she sing & play guitar, but is learning bass & piano, & is hoping to learn drums soon! I see her truly motivated, which was hard to see since the start of the pandemic! Not only is she learning and having fun in a safe environment, but she is motivated and happy! Sabina, Teddy, Robert, Dylan & Jasmine are part of the School of Rock family in North Miami and my daughter loves them all! The School goes out of its way to keep everyone safe with their safety precautions. They wear masks, maintain a safe distance, encourage washing & sanitizing hands. We're looking forward to seeing them again next week to continue this Rock & Roll journey!

Found a RuPaul's Drag Race elimination round watch party. And this is how I learned about Villain Theater! From what I gathered, there is quite a variety of programming here like improv and comedy shows A friend and I met up here for the big event. I've been familiar with Little Haiti for decades but admittedly haven't kept up with what's going on since the area started changing. All that to say, I went in totally blind. Well, honey. Villain Theater opened my eyes! Wide open, in a great way. There is a lobby/waiting area with a concession stand and restrooms. The theater inside is dark with low lighting, plenty of seating and a stage that is easily viewable from any seat in the room. On the evening I visited, not only was there the RPDR watch party with amazing hosts, there was even an all-out revue! Now, I wasn't expecting this. Nevertheless, it was certainly an entertaining and tasteful experience with expert performers as well as amateurs. Pro tip is bring plenty of cash ($1s and $5s) - I know for next time. Performers also accept tips via electronic payment. :) Villain Theater felt like an all-inclusive safe space. Everyone was welcomed in and treated with respect. I highly commend the staff and hosts for doing an excellent job in that regard. Major pluses were free parking, cheeeap drinks and they have popcorn!

I didn't get to try the food since we came from dinner. But they offer a selection of drinks. The show did run a little bit longer than expected. What's cool is that there are opportunities for you to take improv classes and also take your company here for team building.

There is something special and old world about going to a live play. There is something even more special about passing on a love of live theatre to your kids. This theatre company specializes in child friendly productions and puts on about four shows a year. Their 330 seat 'home' theatre is a renovated 1946 movie theatre with an authentic art deco lobby. I say 'home'; theatre because the first show I saw by this troupe was in South Beach and it was there I signed up for their annual program which they mail to your home - mine arrived today which sparked this review. This year they are focusing on performing in the Miami Shores theater which suits me fine because you don't have that nightmare of parking like you have in South Beach (took me 45 minutes last time to find parking near the theatre on Lincoln Road) Ticket prices are crazy reasonable...$15 per person. And the shows are just long enough to hold the children's fascination (and believe me...they are fascinated by live theatre - moreso than at the movies) but not that long that the fidgets set in. From the little experience I have had here, go early because the seats fill up fast. This season their new production I intend to go and see is Inanna and the Huluppu Tree. It doesn't start until April 2009 so plenty of time to gather a Yelp possee :) If you have guests coming to visit with kids and you are at a loss for what to do with them this is a brilliant option. Mind opening and fun!
