Dr. Sather has been treating my difficulties for a few years now. I started out with a twisted spine and continuous pain. Now my spine has been straightened out, my legs are the same length (my pelvis was tilted before, making one leg seem longer than the other) and I am pain free. What a difference! Dr. Sather really cares about his patients and works diligently to bring you as much relief as possible and put you into as healthy state as possible. I have been to many chiropractors over the past 10 years. I recently moved to the Bellingham area and a local friend recommended Dr. Sather when I told them I was having back pain and headaches. The initial consultation included an extensive discussion about my symptoms and explanation of factors that would contribute to them. Other chiros I have been to in the past had an "assembly line" feel where they did minimal interaction and discussion with their patients and then did 1-2 quick adjustments and then sent you on your way. So, I was impressed with the care and time he devoted to educating me on how to improve my condition and prevent further aggravation. Note: Because of the time it takes, I do not recommend scheduling this extensive first time consultation if you are in a hurry or already have a severe headache. The adjustment portion of my visit is why I selected 5 stars. He did not just do a 1-2 adjustments, but did over 8 adjustments -- to my neck, my back, my hips and even my legs. I'd never had such a thorough adjusting before and never walked out of a chiro with so much relief. During my first visit at a DIFFERENT chiro (that I went to prior to Dr Sather), the chiro cheerfully said "It looks like I am going to be seeing a LOT of you here!" after just a few minutes into our first appointment. I never went back. Who wants to go to a chiro who is content with having you pay for tons of visits with seemingly no concern for the financial and time impact on their patients? So, I was surprised when Dr Sather ended our visit by giving me a printout with diagrams of stretches that I could do at home, as well as a recommendation for a brace that I could wear during my recovery to help reduce future strain and to lessen the amount of future trips I would need to make to a chiro. I've been a lifelong athlete and have endured numerous injuries and accidents over the years that have ultimately left me with chronic back, neck, and hip pain. I have an extremely high pain tolerance and have lived with the alarmingly degenerative pain for years before I finally caved and went in to see Dr. Sather. His office is clean and the receptionist, Jessica is very professional, courteous, and great to deal with. Dr. Sather has exceptional bedside manner and is kind, understanding, educational, and has an in-depth knowledge of the human anatomy. I was impressed with his approach of explaining the physical workings of the spine and body to me so that I had an understanding of the what's and why's of where my pain was stemming from. After the initial exam Dr. Sather adjusted me and to say I felt like a new woman is an understatement. My pain relief was immediate, as was the return of my range of motion in my neck. I still can't believe how much better I feel today. I've been to several chiropracters in my years and I can unequivocally say that Dr. Sather's is by far the best Dr. I've ever been to. I have been to many chiropractor's in my lifetime but Dr.Sather's approach is new to me, which was rather surprising as I thought I have tried them all. Dr. Jeff really knows his stuff. No Chiropractor I know is able to handle my TMJ problems. Dr. Jeff however, always, always, always can sort it out and leave me feeling great for weeks after treatment. Dr.J knows how to adjust. I had a injury and he forgot a diagnostic code, causing a delay of 2 months with my treatment. So I was in pain for 2 months, until treatment got approved and what was wrong with me to begin with. I got a ultra sound and found out I had calcifitic tendonitis. My family doctor, my current occupational doctor and OT therapist said this is what causing the pain in my shoulder. Dr. J does not listen to your patients. This is what cause the pain in my arm. My wife and I had a very bad experience with the Doctor here. She had just recently had a concussion, and her back went out soon afterwards. We found this place online, and went with them because they were near us and could fit us in in the same day. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. I went into the exam room with her, because she was too concussed to be able to explain things properly. He insisted on giving the new patient speech, which involved showing my wife a plastic spine and going over chiropractic information. I explained very clearly to him that she was concussed, being here was already very difficult, being under the bright lights in the room was difficult, and she would not be able to follow what he was saying. Not only not follow, but being spoken to in medical jargon was actually making her feel worse. He insisted that he had to do it, and when she closed her eyes in pain while he waved the plastic spine in front of her face, he told her she had to look. I intervened the best I could, saying he could tell the information to me and I would remember. (Never mind the fact that this was a pre-existing injury, which he knew, and she had had chiropractic care for it many times before, which he also knew). He was unable or unwilling to make modifications for a patient clearly in acute pain and distress. After we finally got through the speech, he then told her he would need to have her stand up and move in different ways, extending arms, etc. She told him she would be too sick to do that and it might make her throw up, but he said she would have to, in order for him to get accurate information. At this point we just left. Hearing that a patient is concussed and will get sick if asked to do the usual exam is important information, and he could have made adjustments for that. We went to a different chiropractor who immediately understood the situation, did not subject her to speeches or standing exams, and instead was able to examine her back while she lay down and make the necessary adjustments. read more
