Local family run business. Owner 'John' is really helpful and definitely knows his stuff. Specialist in foreign satellites. Well priced - will offer you his honest opinion and not try and rip you off like a lot of them will do. read more

He said he couldn't find a fault and he thought the Turntable was suppose to be unstable until the platter got up to speed! It was a Direct Drive Technics 1210! This company is unprofessional, clearly not qualified to attempt to repair or diagnose an obvious and simple fault. Took elsewhere, fault was fixed and repaired the same day! As well as glorious displays of large HD TV's (which I seriously covet!) they often have really funky gadgets and gizmos. Automatic Juke-box, anyone? Or how about a wind-up radio? If you've got the cash to spend there's plenty of interesting ideas to treat your home with. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful - I know from personal experience that they don't try to sell you stuff that isn't suitable for what you want, and will direct you to where you can get what you need. Next to Blockbusters right in the market place, enjoy a smorgasboard of TV heaven!

The proprietor always gives the impression of being dressed in a waistcoat and wearing horn-rimmed spectacles, although to the best of my knowledge neither is ever the case. Although I daresay they transact a few sales every week (I myself have bought one or two minor items from them) their main trade seems to be in the repair of well, pretty much everything! I've seen people lugging everything from televisions to fridge freezers to vacuum cleaners therein. To add to the olde-worlde (not to mention other-worldly) ambience, they write all purchases and repair items down, by hand, in a big ledger. Cracking stuff. The staff are unfailingly courteous and helpful, so if you've got any random item hanging around under the stairs that's too good to throw away and yet doesn't actually work, take it along to RP Jones. You just might be surprised!

For me they're big enough to be able to handle our jobs (they look after our sites as far away as Cornwall and Gloucester) yet small enough that you can speak to the same sales person, service person and often get the same engineer handling the work on site. This continuity allows them to provide a good service that can save time along the way. When dealing with issues on site, unrelated to them I should add, I have even been able to contact senior members of staff on a Saturday on their personal mobiles. Probably not an everyday service but was very valuable in this situation and much appreciated. I think it just shows they go that extra mile.

I asked him what he was doing that he could hurt us and cause an accident, the driver started laughing and shouting 'what you gonna do about it'. After this the driver drove recklessly, undertaking other cars. We contacted the company immediately and raised the issue with a manager in the company. The manager seamed understanding and promised to call us after he had spoken to the engineer. Sadly nobody has ever contacted us. For me this shows that they do not care about their engineers behavior. Personally I used to work in Fire and Security and within the industry trust is essential as engineers know the codes and security systems. If an engineer does not care about other people and behaves aggressively towards the general public how can he possibly do his job in securing their properties and businesses well? How can he care about a client being robbed or his business being lost in flames when he willingly puts other peoples lives in danger and laughs at them? As can be seen by the some of the other reviews about their engineers behavior I would recommend anybody to look elsewhere before hiring these guys.
