First off what I will say is; if you are considering this company for internet you are like I was and have no other option. In that case, if you MUST use satellite internet this place has the best speed and functionality. Customer service is terrible, they bent the gutters on my house when the dirt bag showed up install my dish. The final showing of Exede's appreciation of my money for two years; I called a week before I moved to make sure I was taking all the equipment I needed to return. the lady told me all I had to return was the modem and power cables. I specifically asked her if she needed the dish or anything done to the dish before I left. I was told nothing needed to be done to the dish, just leave it there, don't touch it. After I moved 3 hours away and I call back to officially cancel I was informed that I needed to access the dish and remove the transponder, and return it. when I told the service rep about what I was told he just kept repeating himself like I was a toddler. When the supervisor came on he did the same thing, kept reading me there "disclaimer" that stated I had to return the transponder. BS! When I told them they could go get it themselves I was told I would be billed $300.00, which if not paid would go to collections. This company is terrible. zero stars. read more

Exede is a terrible internet service. I never heard of them before but was referred to them by direct tv. My fiancé and I switched to them hoping to save a little money, but we're actually spending more money every month on data overage charges on our cell phones haha. So, jokes on us! We told the lady on the phone how many devices we use and how often and she said we shouldn't have a problem, but she clearly was just saying whatever she needed to in order to get us to sign up with them. I do not recommend this company at all ! We've had them for two months now, and we've tried to cancel, but the cancelling process is so difficult, sitting on hold for two hours without speaking to a representative. So frustrating. PLUS, they want to charge us a $350 fee to cancel. We were told there was no contract, so why do we need to pay a cancellation fee? The internet never works - which is the main purpose of this company. UPDATE: I have finally given in and paid the $350 cancellation fee last month. I check my credit statements today and come to find out they charged me another $320 a couple days ago. When I called to ask them why, they said they never received my equipment back. I SENT THE EQUIPMENT BACK WEEKS AGO AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER. The lady tried looking up my tracking number, the one that THEY gave me, came with the box they sent me to send the equipment back, and she said it was coming up as a duplicate and so she couldn't find the package and I'd have to call back Monday. Huh? This company is such a scam. I've paid them close to $1,000 for two months of internet service. It's ridiculous. SECOND UPDATE (and hopefully the last): They sent me another box so I could send my equipment back. I guess the lady clearly didn't understand when I told her I already sent it a month ago. Anyway... After dealing with this for a couple weeks now, multiple phone calls, things are finally "resolved." My last phone call, was with the rudest employee there I've encountered thus far. It was like pulling teeth. He "couldn't help me at all" in regards to my package. After being on the phone and arguing for 45 minutes, and being placed on hold 5 times so he could "find out information for me" I've had enough. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was once again placed on hold, for him to come back and say they found my package and "everything is good." Why couldn't he tell me that in the beginning? Wasn't until I asked for a manager that I was able to get some answers. Lastly I asked for a reference number for the call just in case they come back in the future saying they didn't receive my equipment. He keeps telling me they don't give reference numbers for the calls, they don't exist. I went on to explain to him that I have 6 reference numbers for each of my previous calls over the past couple weeks. He tried to argue with me, eventually put me on hold for 5 minutes and then came back with a reference number. This company is such a scam. Seriously. Its never taken me two months to cancel services with a company before. Unbelievable. UPDATE 3-2-2017: they sent my information to COLLECTIONS. When I called exede to ask them why I am receiving a letter from collection agencies. They said it was because I never returned my equipment. I told the lady on the phone I have the reference number, the date and time and all of the information for proof that I returned my equipment. THE GUY TOLD ME ON THE PHONE THE DATE AND TIME THEY RECEIVED MY PACKAGE WITH THE EQUIPMENT. Only wish I could give this company negative stars!!! Signed up with a company called Wildblue which is part of the Viasat company. Good speed, but piss poor data package. Ridiculously small. Finally cancelled with them at the end of the 2-year contract. Exede told me I didn't have to return any equipment because it was Wildblue equipment that was out of date. Three months later a whopping bill from them for equipment not returned! Equipment is at the beach house so that means a trip up there to see if we tossed the stuff or not since we were told we didn't need to return it. Exede Internet stay away from this company! What kind of company is this that you only have 1 installer?? We were left waiting twice for installation. Today's appointment was confirmed with you last Friday and still no show. We told you numerous times that we have zero cellphone reception on property and still didn't get that and had us waiting to confirm today's appointment? This is stupid beyond comprehension. Not only that you hung up the phone on me. Very rude, irresponsible and unprofessional. You brag to me that you offer execllent customer service. Exede is the worse provider I've ever had in my life. I work with websites and computers and I never had such a big problem until I changed over to Exede. The customer service is horrible and the cancellation fee is ridiculous. We were never even told that there was a contract. Please do yourself the favor and stay away from Exede. At first I was happy with Excede. The installation was sloppy and the service is not cheap, but customer support seemed professional, courteous, and helpful. They were much more professional than the others I called. Huges was the worst. Huges acted very third world. The Huges rep used religion to try to get me to sign up. During February 2016 I ran out of data and log in my account to add a little more data to get me to the end of the month. I noticed and accepted an offer to upgrade to a faster better service. I installed the new kit exactly as instructed but could never get online. I tried for over a week with the help of different Exede (ViaSat) representatives to figure out why there was no connection with the new Excede liberty but the old plan worked great. I'm not a computer tech but I am a teacher who teaches day and night classes uses technology 9+ hours a day. I know how to follow instructions. Several of their employees went out of their way to try resourceful ways to try to solve the problem including Jeff, Jackie, Raquel and most notably Sandy. Sandy spent almost an entire hour trying to reboot the system to no avail. During these interactions I was told that this upgrade was not made for my system, should not have appeared as an option, and was suffering from multiple bugs. However, it was too late. I was told that once I hit the upgrade button I could never go back to the plan I had. However, the last tech 2 person (Alisha) I spoke with was so shockingly rude and belittling that I decided to terminate my account. They ended up charging me an early termination fee as well as a pro rated fee for the new upgraded Liberty Plan. They are greedy despicable slime bags, but they are all greedy despicable slime bags. Excede might be the best greedy despicable slime bags out there if you live away from typical services. I am now using a cheap hot spot until I find the next best greedy despicable slime bag. Get ready for your internet to shut off at random moments throughout the day if you choose this company. You get very used to seeing the "yellow exclamation triangle" next to your signal on your computer or device, even on the clearest days. Data caps in their "unlimited" data plan are 150GB per month which is great if you only use facebook. But 150GB today is only the size of 2 PlayStation 4 games. So once you get 2 games in one month, your internet gets slowed. CenturyLink can't come to this area soon enough. read more

I am in the 3rd day of my billing cycle and already reached my data limit. I wasn't even home for 2 of the days. I called the customer service rep and she was rude and argumentative. She instructed me that my computer must have been updating itself for 14 hours (I checked my update time, and it was in the free data time slot) and could do nothing about it. I also complained about how slow the connection is and she admitted that it was. I wish I had researched this company first. It would cost me $300 just to get out of my contract and I can not afford that. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They just want your money and could care less about the service they provide. read more

Installer came out and damaged the eaves and facia board and drilled several holes in the stucco. The landlord is now forcing us to pay for all the damage that the intaller caused. I called the company and they denied responsibility. The supervisor at Exede hid behind customer service and refused to provide any assistance. Hi - I created an account just to post this review. My experience with Excede's customer service has been the worst I've experienced in 30+ years. I signed up for satellite Internet service + Voice (phone) in December as our new house did not have cable or any other Internet as an option. The installation tech did not install the phone service as he did not have the correct adapter. He assured me it would arrive in the mail. After two weeks, I called and was informed it would arrive in the mail. It has been over a month and no phone service adapter has arrived. No problem, I think to myself, I will just call again. I contacted Exede's customer service branch for Voice support, this office is located in Las Vegas I was told. I spoke to CJ and later her supervisor, Antoinette. Both employees were extremely rude and unapologetic about the situation. The calltaker (CJ) demanded that I provide additional personal information in order to provide me with the Voice adapter I had never received but had now paid over a month's rate for. I tried to count how many times I was interrupted, talked over and berated by the calltaker, but I lost count. She was condescending, and continually came across as annoyed that I was bothering her with this problem. for 30 minutes she refused to send out an additional Voice adapter to me. I asked if she could cancel the service since it was never connected, and she threatened to charge me early cancellation fees. It took me 35 minutes of talking on the phone to get her to agree to send out a Voice (phone) adapter so that I could have service. I will be cancelling my service as soon as my two year agreement is up, as I cannot afford to pay the fees for early cancellation. Horrible service! So I was never told that they will withdraw money from my account and also I got charged after three days of having them! The customer service is horrible, the lady I spoke with was breathing into the phone and had a very bad attitude! I would not go with this company! Do not even want to give one star. This is the worst company ever. Makes promises for data that gets mysteriously used up with a couple of weeks but blame it on customers. Charged my card for items I didn't approve, then keep promising a refund. Took me months to get it back with customer service telling me they were returning it. Obviously they promise you whatever you want, then don't follow through. Even the supervisor when I cancelled tried to tell me one thing, then changed his story when I called him on it. Paid large fees just to get away from them. Don't take my word for it though. There are reviews for this company that I wish I had seen before getting hooked up with them. Excede internet is hands down the worst internet service I have ever encountered. After having internet through Verizon, Comcast and several other local providers through the years, Exede internet through ViaSat is horrendous. I've never written on online review before so this will be a first. We have cable through DirectTV and signed up with Exede 2 months ago because of the bundling package discount. When discussing plan options with the sales agent, he had asked what we used our internet for. Aside from a very modest amount of internet browsing/email use, my wife and I said we typically watch an hour or so of netflix each night after work. We also use Pandora and Facetime every so often. Without any hesitation the agent happily told me that he had a plan that would easily suit our needs. At no point did he mention that this plan would have a monthly 10GB bandwidth cap limit! So with an HD TV, that equates to about 3-4 hours of netflix streaming and you're already at your limit. And what happens after you reach your cap limit, they slow down your speed so you can't stream any movies or shows on your tv, youtube, etc until the next billing cycle. Low and behold to my surprise after just 5 days we are already at our 10GB limit and no longer able to do anything outside of web browsing for the next 3 weeks. This has to be the most misleading sales agreement I've ever encountered. We pay $50/month for this plan. The next plan upgrade is a whopping $100/month for a meager 18GB limit. That's ludicrous considering other service providers offer upwards of 300GB limits or unlimited bandwidth for what I'm paying now. Exede internet was more than happy to tell me about how great their download speeds were and lock me into a 24-month contract but didn't want to tell me any of these details. Another important point the sales agent could have mentioned is that satellite internet goes out anytime it rains or snows. So during bad weather, when you'd want to be able to watch movies or get work done inside, you can't because your internet is down. I never would have agreed to sign up for such an overpriced, unreliable, and inferior provider had I known these things. The words deceptive and misleading can't be overstated. And, unlike other companies that will typically offer a 30-day no obligation trial before you commit, Exede charges you $15/month for all remaining months to terminate your 2-year contract early. ($300 in our case since we just signed up). I tried contacting customer service who were very quick to tell me that'd I'd be responsbile for the early termination fee in full. I couldn't believe they wouldn't even offer to cut the termination fee in half. It's not like I'm looking for a refund to get my money back, I just want to switch providers without getting penalized for realizing how crappy this company really is. After reading countless other reviews, it seem as though many people have expressed similar displeasure. However, some stated they were able to cancel their service and get their early termination fee waived. I'm wondering why this was not offered in my case. I won't be recommending Exede internet to anyone anytime soon. read more
