If you love coffee, then you HAVE to come here! This place sells vinyl, coffee, and pastries. The interior is cool and has a slight hipster ambiance. There's even a listening room where you can try out their record players and listen to some music. I ended up ordering the Milk-Based Cold Brew. Milk-Based Cold Brew: they make their cold brew in-house and use whole milk as the base. It is so thick and creamy. I've tried so many cold brews, and I could confidently say that this is one of the best cold brews I've ever had! The coffee is strong, full of flavor, and so soothing. I highly recommend this drink if you love cold brews. Overall, their coffee is amazing and the place has a great, chill vibe. I would definitely come back again if I'm in the Philippines and stock up on their coffee. I would probably come back everyday! read more

You can't be going here on a rush, this is a place to unwind with vinyls and coffee. It is a brilliant idea to mix (hipster) music and coffee in one place. Although people have their own iPods now, nothing is as smooth and classy as vinyl records. I've posted some of their vinyls in the photos. I wish they have a wider selection though but it will do. I hope they expand to other places. And as for coffee, I had the latte, which I found good with just the right blend of coffee and milk. I think it is moderately priced and is definitely not a Starbucks kind of coffee. Only that it took them a while to serve my coffee hence they lost a star. Also maybe a little more improvement on their menu? Overall, had a nice time (plus a cute guy sitting next to me lol). Definitely coming back with music-lover friends. read more

This is prolly by far the hipster-est store on SM Megamall. What could be more hipster than vinyl and coffee put together? What's also cool about this place is that they have a listening room so that you can have a glorious lone time moment with their Motorino (or the vinyl player) and enjoy that scratchy vintage tunes. You could play it via speakers or headphones. If only I could stay here forever so that I could reach hipstervana (yes, Nirvana to hipsters that I just invented). I'm sure the Duke of Hipstertopia Matt Smith would agree and declare this store a good representation of Hipstertopia. I was also surprised to know that apart from their uber awesome vinyl collections, they also do sell Motorinos. I never thought that albums from latest artists would be available in vinyl; even more a vinyl player. I thought everything vinyl just got extinct due ever since the commencement of digital age. I guess I stayed too long living under the rock. Hello, vintage civilization in the modern age. It's confusing, I know. A friend of mine invited me to check out this place, because just like me, we are both coffee fans and semi-obsessed with artisanal coffee shop hunting. What a pleasure it was when we got there, because it was also a pseudo-record shop at the same time. I was like a little kid when I got there because it was a shop with two of my favourite things in one place! I especially liked their "Listening Room" It was a private room, with a Motorino and a handful of record selections to listen to. That definitely almost convinced me to actually get my own Motorino. I wanted to try their take on my usual flat white, and yes it did not disappoint. Ever since, we frequented this place and even became friends with the barista, a.k.a. The Coffee Scientist, which we simply call her for fun. When you go there, you should look for her, her name is Maine. It's always a relaxing time whenever I visit the place to get a coffee fix, we would simply hang-out in the high chairs and read the interesting books they have on display--which they also sell, by the way. read more

I'm a sucker for vintage stuff and everything "old". I love the craftsmanship of the artists in the early days when things weren't served on a silver platter. If you love these things too, then you must visit Satchmi Cafe at the 2nd floor of the Mega Fashion Hall at SM Mega Mall. Satchmi Cafe is a coffee and music place where you can listen to vinyl style music records while drinking a good cup o' joe. Vinyl records does not just mean the music of the 1990's, however. At Satchmi, they have vinyls of new contemporary artists. What caught my eye are their selection of indie records such as Death cab for Cutie. Don't have a vinyl player? No problem. Satchmi sells Motorino vinyl record players in different colors at different specifications. You can have their talented artists design your Motorino player's case. You know that they have talented artists based on the murals painted on their walls. Satchmi also carries the brand Happy Socks. These are Sweden made, hipster-ish socks that make your feet attractive for footsie time. Another vintage-inspired gizmos they have are cameras and films. Check out my pictures for their film menu! Satchmi Cafe proves that modern can harmoniously mix with the old, and that old does not mean dull and colorless. Must visit if you're into vintage inspired stuff like me! How ironic that the best coffee in SM Megamall can be found inside a record shop. Then again, snobby coffee and vinyls are as hipster as you can get, and Satchmi has them both. As I am not into collecting vinyl just yet, I am reviewing Satchmi based on their coffee. And what damned fine coffee they have! If you're into third wave, or at least into coffee that tastes like third wave (aminin, may ganito, alam nyo yan), Satchmi is really your only option in Megamall. Good, full-bodied coffee that hits all the right tasting notes, nothing beats sinking into a cheery flat white while soaking up the vibes of the place. It's the best. read more

Vinyl was never dead, and it's always been here underneath all the MTV and walkmans and CDs and iPods that walked the Earth since. Locally, vinyls have made their homes in small, obscure thrift stores, a few online stores here and there, and mostly eBay. Fast forward to the year 2015 when vinyls are now being sold at an actual store. In a mall. In Megamall. It sounds really strange and unheard of, but it exists. This is Satchmi. Without batting an eyelash, the word "hipster" comes into mind. For starters, they've got a good selection of titles here. There's something for those into mainstream pop music, something for hipsters into *insert band name with an animal here*, something for the oldies, and something for weirdo shoegazers like me. I do commend them for thinking of every music lover here, and how everything is well curated, from the titles to the presentation and how the store is designed. However, this is just me, but since I'm a cheapskate and this place is a bit pricey, I would rather hunt for my vinyls through eBay or order them directly abroad where I know I can get a better deal. And, personally there's actually something rewarding about purchasing a vinyl from finding them from a pile in an ukay-ukay or garage sale rather than a shiny store in a mall. But it's still great to know that there's a good place like Satchmi that's dedicated to making sure that vinyls stay alive. Also, before I forget, they have a small coffee shop/counter thing going on inside their store, which is something I do need to check out again for myself. It smells amazing inside! read more

I fell in love with the aesthetic of this place in a heartbeat. It felt like I was no longer in the mall when I started doing my work on my laptop. During my visit, I got an iced Americano that was served in a small (about 6 oz) glass mug and ube lava cake that tasted too sweet for my tongue (both good and bad). As for their wifi the barista will provide a voucher code that has no limit. When I connected however, the wifi speed was too slow to browse so I connected with Go Wi-fi instead and was able to finish a great amount of work on the computer while enjoying a comforting atmosphere and iced Americano. read more

I love finding good speciality stores and Satchmi in SM Fashion Mall was like finding a gem! Walls and walls of vinyl records of all genres filled the store. They had music my parents listened to and music I just heard on the radio. There are 2 listening rooms if you'd like to check them out on the spot. They also sell film which is really hard to come by these days. Extra points for having a really cute coffee shop in the middle of the store! If you're into the analog world (which seems to be making a come back) and even if you're not, a trip to Satchmi will make you see things in a different light! Satchmi is well known as a distributor of the Motorino-- a record player for all your vinyls. It's stylish, compact, modern-- but also very pricey. A Motorino can cost around 7k+, but if you're a vinyl fanatic, it's well worth it to invest in a record player like the Motorino. The Satchmi store also sells a lot of hard to find vinyls in great condition ... But also more expensive than if you'd go look around hunting records at vintage/antique stores. What I like about this place is that they have a listening room where you can pop in some records and listen to how much we're missing out on, in terms of sound quality. It's very... hipstery. In a nice way, I guess? But it's a bit too much, for me. Though it's nice. Satchmi also serves all sorts of coffee, and it's cute cause they also give you a leather coaster for your coffee (so you don't stain the wood). The coffee is from the same guys at EDSA BDG. But the lady barista needs to work on her flat white latte art skills. Stick to selling records. read more

During one of my visits to the new Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall, I chanced upon Satchmi's brick and mortar store. I first heard about the brand from a friend who loves vinyl records and I would then see them in bazaars from time to time. Eventually, they came out with an online shop and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have grown big enough to put up a physical store. A look inside the store and one word comes to mind: hipsterrific! They've got tons of vinyl record selections, mostly of the contemporary kind. There's also listening booths for anyone's aural pleasure. When you're done listening to the records, you can even hit up their in-house cafe for a steaming cup of joe. All in all, it's quite a cool place to hang out in. And you're sure the music they play is always good. read more

If you've always liked vinyl records either because they're pretty and look good in a photograph, or because you're one of those people who think only vinyl records give you the ultimate experience, then this is the place to be. Especially for beginners who don't know their way around the antique shops and popups that sell similar stuff. Here you can find various records of different genres. Satchmi does not just sell vinyl records though. They have turntables and record players available. See? I'd been there a couple of times already before I wrote this review, mainly to browse titles that are pretty much nonexistent in CD form. In our country at least. What I kinda didn't notice was that there's actually a bar in that branch! I only found out during BP Valenzuela's MAD Fest stage. The emcee actually pointed out that she's one of the Satchmi baristas. They don't have a wide array of stuff in their menu. Just your usual cold or hot coffee, chocolate and tea. I got a glass of iced chocolate and although I liked it, I remember wishing it was a little sweeter. read more

Who said that old school can't be cool? I personally think that it's nice to bring back the old days once in a while and fuse it with what's new. I think Satchmi is a perfect example of this. Don't you just miss the time when everyone listened to music through a gramophone? I just really think it's so cool. This vinyl shop sells records of old music down to the very recent 21st century hits. They've also revolutionized these vinyl players by being able to copy tracks from the vinyl record to your computer or USB. They even made their own brand called the Motorino and sell it alongside other brands. This very suave vinyl record store also sells really interesting books and funky socks. they even have a coffee shop in the middle. Our friend, Maine, makes excellent coffee there. I met her through my friends who regularly go there for her coffee making expertise. They specifically wanted her to make it and that's how they met. She uses great tasting beans such as Dark Matter Theory and Winds of Winter. She was also telling me about beans from Benguet? I don't know much like she does but I definitely love caffeine! I really like how you could sit there and hang out with friends or just be by yourself and read a book. The ambiance is set by the records they play and so far I've like everything they've played there every time I go. I always love being there! read more

Located along Mega Mall's brand spanking new Fashion Hall, Satchmi is a recently opened vinyl store and cafe. As the premier local record distribution and manufacturing company, they have a great and eclectic collection of records, ranging from classic rock to modern electropop. If there's something you're looking for that's not in their collection, you could talk to one of the managers and request to have it shipped, too. It's great that they allow you to browse through their collections and try the records out before buying (on their Motorino record player, of course!) While I'm not too sold on the Motorino as a vinyl player, and the headphones they have in the store for testing records out aren't too great, everything else is totally top notch. They even recently started a series of acoustic gigs inside their store. Overall a nice place to spend a Sunday browsing for music, new and old. read more

To be honest I never really saw the appeal of vinyls. I'm sure they were great back in the day when they were still a novelty, but I find that downloading my music from the internet (ahem, *legally* of course) is way more convenient and decidedly less pricey. However, I must admit that stepping into Satchmi made me want to buy all the records they had. The music sounded so great on the Motorinos - I can understand why some people feel that the music sounds way better when played by one, but I never realized until I stepped into the store. It did sound very whole and organic, and if it wasn't for the whopping P2k per record price I would have gone and bought some. The Motorinos aren't cheap either - they're around P7k give or take. They do sound great though, and the whole place gave off the whole hipster-esque vibe. I'd definitely go there again, and you should too - if not for the vinyls, then at least for the coffee! read more
