I absolutely LOVE this little shop!!! The store is a bright spot on the edge of downtown and has a noticeable pink storefront with a black and white striped awning. Staff are so friendly and the cakes, cupcakes, and other goodies are decadent! I make a stop in every other week or so to get myself a little treat. I've seen the specialty cakes they make and they are STUNNING!!! The care put into each cake is visible in the end. And they are LGBTQ friendly. A big bonus in my book. Every time I order from Sassie Cakes I get so excited. I don't like giving them specifics because I love watching them use their own expertise. I always eagerly await the baked goods I've ordered..........and they always surpass whatever I've hoped for. I also can't believe how reasonable the pricing is for the quality, visuals, and the taste! I honestly think they should charge more. The cakes are the absolute BEST! Easy to order online if you want a basic version within 2 days, or a little longer lead time for custom. I've done both several times and our guests always rave about them. I love the Illinois Rd location! I do wish they were open earlier for coffee but I'll keep coming back! Don't pass on the chocolate covered s'mores if they have them - they are amazing! My kids love all the games and the decor is adorable. read more

The process to order is ridiculous. You can't go into the store front or order on the phone only through an online portal which needs work. I had to keep emailing to see if she was going to actually make my cake. The delivered cake was okay in its appearance but not what I was expecting. The cake itself was over baked with the edges being inedible. I am capable of making a cake myself better than what I paid $160 for. read more

Edible cookie dough, need I say more!? You can find this adorable cake shop located on Broadway not far off Jefferson. The interior is adorable with a bright blue accent wall and cake pans used as decorative pieces. There are a few tables for seating, but it isn't a large space. They have limited hours (for now at least), so be sure to check those before stopping in! The owner greeted us with a smile as soon as walked in. I have heard about this infamous cookie dough, but I was tempted by all of the other sweets to choose from. Cookies, brownies, cupcakes...I had to get the cookie dough! I got a scoop of the peanut butter, which had reeces pieces in it. SO good! The shop also specializes in special occasion cakes and other treats. We were excited to try this local cakery when we heard they sold edible cookie dough by the cup. I called for the days flavors and they told me Four different ones that sound yummy. The location is downtown immediately off Broadway from Washington. Warning traffic can be a tad hairy during the busier times of day downtown so there was a line for me to turn left at the lights but I found street parking in front of the store. There is an alley slightly south of the store you can park in also. Street parking may have been a mistake as the card driving by get so close to you and the traffic was constant making it hard to get out of my car after I parked. The store front is painted and kept up and inside you'll see a cute window display of fake cakes that she has done and different sizes as well as kitschy Knick knacks that are in desperate need of a good dusting. It is visible from the few tables there are in the small area in front of the counter. Displayed are a few cupcakes, brownies and whatever they have available for the day. And hiding is the cookie dough. $3.50 for a cup which includes a small ice cream scoop x 2. It equaled about 1/2' measuring cup. You can choose different flavors if you fancy but you cannot taste them. Need some water that's $1. Restroom: they don't have one available to the public. Which oltge young lady helping me, very nice, was going to take me back to use theirs but the owner hacked that down with her nasty look and shaking of the head a big fat no! She was also on the phone with a client who was having issues with their receipt being sent to them. That's right, you can hear their entire conversations in the store. So I got to hear about their personal lives while trying to eat this cookie dough. The edible concoction was extremely sweet and for the price and serving size I would have been just as happy making it at home. The atmosphere Was meh but the experience of finding a new place locally with my lil one was priceless. We both agreed while one time was fun and something to do after school we wouldn't return. This review is based just on the cookie dough and nothing else that the owner does. Maybe go and check it out. For us though it was a one and done. read more

Communication with the owner days before my daughters wedding was bad. Never replied to emails in a timely matter and was made to feel like I was bothering her. I wanted the dessert holders to be gold per my email and her husband showed up with an eye sore white cupcake tower and mismatched glass plates.
