Sardi has made it into my top five FAVOURITE MELBOURNE CAFES! I know, big call. One I'm absolutely prepared to stand behind.
I walked in one rainy Melbourne morning and was unexpectedly treated to one of the best breakfasts I've ever tasted!! I bravely ventured beyond my usual poached eggs, salmon and avo, and ordered the Superfood Breakfast Bowl - asparagus, kale, avocado, buckhinis, chives, lemon, parsley with poached eggs & almond dukkah. Wow! I ordered their house-made paleo bread on the side. Along with a perfectly made almond milk latte (Almond Milk Co of course), my senses were in heaven. One very happy and satisfied girl was I!! On top of it all, the staff were actually genuinely lovely (sadly rare for a cafe, especially mid week)!
Seating is very limited, so I wouldn't go for brunch on a weekend, but takeaways would be fine. My tip would be to go mid week, as I did, when it's still busy enough to create a buzzy vibe, but not so overcrowded that you're waiting in a forty-person deep line outside (which I've seen these Hawthorn Sardi fans doing)!!
If you're a lover of Melbourne street art, you have to go to Sardi just to check out their graffiti side wall, if for nothing else!
Thanks Sardi, you've ticked all my boxes :) read more
