We always love coming here and struggling with what candy to get, they have so much variety to choose from. I found a new favorite, Malted Milk Balls. They are so much bigger than the kind found in a movie theater box. My old favorite, Milk Chocolate Cherry Cordials, turned out to be one of granddaughter's faves too. I should have bought more, much more. She tried a Mud Ball for the first time and loved it. Of course we had to pick up some milk chocolate and dark chocolate caramels as well. Martinsville Candy Kitchen is a popular destination when in the downtown area. Right now you can watch the new addition being built onto the old courthouse and see the renovations taking place. The entire city block is undergoing a dramatic change from what it used to be right across the street from the Candy Kitchen.

They opened in May of 2022 and I just now saw it even though there are a couple of tables on the sidewalk. I ordered the Turkey Club on the Croissant because it was a hot sandwich. The sandwich consisted of thin sliced turkey, crisp bacon, Swiss cheese, honey mustard, mayo, lettuce and tomato served on a flaky croissant. It was a very good sandwich except there was too much mayo for me. It was dripping off and making for a messy eating. No worries, I will hold the mayo next time. The sandwich came with "house" chips which were plain kettle potato chips. Now for the truly great find, desserts. Their desserts are not listed on the menu and some are by the pay counter, some in a little refrigerator and some in a "jewelry" case. I ordered the Chocolate Caramel Hole Cake out of the refrigerator. A "hole" cake has holes in it with, in this case, caramel poured into the holes. Absolutely the bomb! PLUS, I was served two pieces because the server thought the portions were small and got the bosses' permission to serve me two. Many thanks!

I had the breakfast platter with a bowl of gravy on the side and ended up ordering extra biscuits - worth every carb! Room for groups of 4-10. We will add this to our places to return in this area.

The interior is not as upscale as the Lizton location. They have a small dining area and workspace and a craft/project room. I came in late, by noon, but after the donut hours. The cases had a varied selection of cookies, donuts and pastries. The clerk told me that their most popular donut was the Apple Cinnamon Donut, but they didn't have any. The clerk said, "I'll make you one!" In ten minutes, she came out with my donut. And it was fresh, soft and delicious. Lots of crispy cinnamon sugar, it melted in my mouth. Great service! Great donut. So good. Plenty of parking. I'll come back. Earlier next time.

While not my favorite donuts in Indiana (Rise n Roll still wins #1 in my heart), the glazed yeast are the winners here.

Their cute little restaurant is across from the post office. I wanted a sandwich to go and they had $13 lunch specials that included a selection of sandwiches, a side and drink. I selected the brisket sandwich with spicy bbq sauce, cole slaw and I grabbed a unsweetened ice tea. The clerk was friendly and I had a short wait. The dining room is neat and tidy with old photos of Martinsville and subtle pig decor. Outside is a really nice covered patio where pets are welcome. My food came out quickly in a paper bag with my name on it. The BBQ brisket was phenomenal. The sandwich had several generous slices of thick brisket with slightly burnt ends, but moist and tender inside. The meat melted into the bun, which was soft and fresh. This was the best bbq sandwich I'd had in a long time. The spicy sauce, came on the side, was really delicious, too. The cole slaw is prepared in-house, finely chopped with a sweet vinegar dressing. It was crunchy and good, and a I've portion. Easy 5 star lunch. Free street parking. I'd stop by every time I'd mail a letter if I lived here. And I'd mail a lot of letters.

I didn't care for the taste, and I'm not sure if I made a bad selection or if the taste was off. The foam on top was an odd consistency and the bottom of the drink was gritty with coffee grinds. The concept is interesting, as they have a play area for kids with several tables nearby. Then they have a room with sliding doors to the side that is a quiet space. The space was wide open and nicely done, however it is so loud and all you can hear are the kids using the play space. The service wasn't particularly welcoming and I thought the pricing was high for the area. My medium drink was over $8. I can appreciate what they are trying to do, but I don't see myself returning.
