On our first night at the Lake District we needed to get some food, we hadn't realised how popular it was to eat at Grasmere, but were fortunate that Sara's Bistro could fit us in.
If we had been much later, they would have struggled as it was obviously a popular place to eat.
The staff were very good and knowledgeable and friendly. The decor is pleasant and the atmosphere is inviting.
Run by a husband and wife, the foo was exquisite. I had a smoked salmon and mackeral pot on a bed of cucumber spaghetti for my starter and it was simply divine.
My mine was a fillet of Seabass on pesto linguini and everything about it was lovely.
To finish I had a lovely sticky toffee pudding, with vanilla icecream.
It's certainly not the cheapest of places to eat, but in my mind you definitely get what you paid for.
They have a good seletion of wine on offer at reasonable prices too.
Highly recommended. read more
