i called this salon around 12 pm, booking a same day appointment for 1:30 pm, and upon my arrival,…read moreonly waited around 5 minutes before getting seated in one of their chairs. prior to my haircut, my hair was waist length, and afterwards, is now chest length. i asked Dina, who cut my hair, to cut off roughly 3 inches, requesting her to focus on removing dead hair/split ends. i specifically informed her that i enjoy keeping my hair long. in spite of this, a whopping minimum 6 inches was cut off. if you're someone like me who enjoys keeping their hair long, i would highly recommend getting your hair cut somewhere else. the pricing for a women's haircut is $35 before tip, which is more affordable than other salons, but this price point may come with certain sacrifices, such as not having your specific hairstyle requests fulfilled.

Which is why I reached out again when I wanted to do something fun with my hair for my 40th birthday. Since this is in an outdoor shopping center, there is free parking right in front. Although I no longer live in LA, I spoke with Kristie and she was just so over the top helpful in fitting me in into Ken's busy schedule. She was already in Taiwan for additional hair training and would respond to me, going back and forth between me and Ken. And mind you, this is before Lunar New Year, when most people would get their haircut! My day started right at opening time (10am) with a haircut. I gave him an idea of what I wanted and he just went with it. I will say this honestly: I've never liked my haircut this much. Why did it take me 40 years??? Anyway, we then had my hair washed and started with the first round of bleach around 11am, and then touch up. By 1pm, I decided to eat my lunch. I came prepared this time! Quick story: 9 years ago, I had no idea this type of hair procedure would take all day, and therefore did not bring lunch. Ken and Kristie fed me lunch! They are the best people, I swear. Anyway, after a rinse, we did another round of bleach with touch ups. I made it more difficult for Ken because I had dyed my hair a darker shade to cover my greys. I'm so sorry Ken! By 4pm it was no COLORING TIME! Ken started with the purple roots, then added the silver to the rest, with rounds of touching up. 5:30pm is when we did our last round of wash, then blow dry and a bit of styling. After a quick photo session, I was out by 6pm! I really appreciate them both for making this work, especially when I took up an entire day. Ken and Kristie are the best, and I will travel back to LA the next time I'd like my hair done again. Thank you SO much again Ken and Kristie!

Pro's: they definitely know what they're doing! I like that they think about what's best for your hair instead of just taking the money. I originally wanted to get an ombré in a very light shade. Instead of frying my hair they guided me into doing it gradually once I grow the box dye color out. They even did a test and put bleach in a thin chunk of my hair to see how fast it could lighten but it didn't. I had also asked for a textured cut like an inspo photo I showed, and they did an amazing job! I definitely see why they have great reviews. Con's: I took away one star only because each time I've come here with a 10 am appointment which is the first of the day they're already busy. They end up taking way too many clients at the same time so it really makes your appointment go by even slower. The last time I went just for a root touch up I was there from 10 am - 3 pm. They were going between clients so much that it was becoming frustrating just sitting there waiting to get your hair washed for almost one hour. I also took away one star because I feel like paying over a hundred dollars for shoulder length hair root touch up that took 5 hours is a lot. They also don't speak English very fluently so unless you speak their dialect language is definitely a barrier here. It's by appointment only. Would I come back?
