This is my story into how Ashraf helped me purchase my brand new Janome MB7 embroidery machine. I've been a customer of Ashraf's for about 1.5 years now. He's been servicing my 2 beginner 1-needle machines. a PE800 and PE900. They tend to have tension problems every few months so it's helpful that Ashraf and his shop are fairly close by to where I live. I began to get frustrated because I make a lot of detailed patches that sometimes have 25 thread changes and it's very time consuming. I needed to increase my production so this is when Ashraf told me about a great embroidery machine made by Janome! It was during the holidays so many sales were going on at the time and he gave me a great deal on the MB7 which is the 7-needle machine. It took me about a week to learn most of the ins and outs of the machine and now I'm going to start learning how to use the Janome software called Artistic Digitizer. I would like to teach people who purchase this machine how to use it properly so they don't get frustrated like I did. There is some help on YouTube in the Janome groups but sometimes problems arise that you cannot find help for. Today my wife was in the middle of a project and her Viking Topaz motor failed. This project was needed to be completed before we visited our extended family in the very near future. We brought the machine to Sarah Sewing Machine and met Ashraf. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He immediately stopped what he was doing to look at it. He diagnosed the problem and replaced the defective parts. He then cleaned the machine and got my wife's "Baby" working in good order. I appreciate Ashraf's candor, and earnest attention to fix this while we waited. He could have easily given us the "leave it here and I will get back to you in three days"! But he didn't. Took my serger in to see if it could be repaired on October 7, 2024. Here it is October 15,2025 and he has my 100.00 deposit and my machine. I have called made appointments to come in and gone in on separate occasions with members of my family and on each call and each visit Ashraf has promised it would be repaired in 2 weeks. The last time I went in to just get it without repair, he had it spread out in many pieces and said he had the motor he thought would work and would mail it to me at no extra mailing cost or bring it to my home. I'm disabled and can't keep running back and forth. Just to have a promise of a repair and him trying to sell me a machine I don't want or to listen to stories about other machines he's worked on. I'm now in other process of getting legal assistance JUST TO GET MY MACHINE BACK IN ONE PIECE WITH ALL THE PIECES IT WENT INTO HIS SHOP WITH.... I found Sarah Sewing Machine through the ELNA website, as they are authorized to sell & service machines as well as Singer & other well-known brands. I had not been using my machines much, as I had a tension issue with the Elna & my Singer featherweight & Elna machines needed a tune-up. Mr. Ashraf looked at my machines as soon as I brought them in and identified some obvious problems, like a dry cracked belt & need for new motor on the vintage Singer machine. I knew I was leaving them in expert hands, and they are now running smoothly. All of a sudden, my Janome sewing machine was not stitching a zigzag stitch properly. I Googled an authorized Janome repair dealer and the name Sarah Sewing Machine Sales and Service in Columbia, MD appeared. The reviews were terrific so I gave them a call. The owner, Ashraf, was easy to talk with and boy, did he know his way around my Janome! My machine is now creating decorative stitches as if it was brand new just out of the box. Every aspect of my machine was checked out and cleaned. My Janome is five years old and always has been a workhorse. His shop is quite a distance from my home (117 miles) but it was worth the trip! All the other reviews are dead on. My new to me Vintage Singer Rocketeer was fully serviced within a few days and the job was done well. It's nice to have someone work on your stuff with such a clear passion for it. Even got a little lesson on how to thread it since it is unlike any of my past machines! I would give a zero if possible! Very disappointing experience. I took the machine for repair because the belt was slipping. What I experienced was a hour and a half of spraying lube all over the machine and us! He then put an incorrect belt on it so we could use it. We didn't need to use it and asked to leave it until the belt was replaced correctly. He insisted we take it and he would order the new belt. $150 later and the belt was never ordered and after several excuses and lack of a return call, I gave up and got the belt myself. I was shocked when I installed the new belt to find the other belt he installed was incorrectly installed and several screws were missing. The bobbin wheel he locked and can't be loosened, so I have no idea what he did to that! read more

I got ready to sew 5 pair of pajamas for my grand-kids for Christmas when my sewing machine quit working. I found Ashraf on yelp. He answered right away. He told me he would have my machine fixed in 3 days or less. Other places I had called said weeks. So I decided to give him a try. He was a man of his word. It was fixed in two days. I thought the price was very reasonable and was exactly what we agreed on when I dropped it off. He was polite, helpful, and sincere. He is more worried about giving good service that trying to over charge or sell more services. When I picked up my machine he let me try it to see if it was working to my satisfaction. He also gave me pointers on how to maintain the machine. His business practices may be different from how we are used to doing business, but I would not hesitate to take my machine to him again. He did everything he said he would, exactly when he said he would. I do not hesitate to recommend that if you need your sewing machine fixed, give him a try. Very happy nana! read more
