Now, normally we would have never done this, since professional photographers and us don't seem to click, or should I say, they make us nervous, since neither of us are what I'd call "relaxed" in front of the lens and we always look a little "off" in photos of us taken together. But this wasn't about us...it was about Charlotte, and, like any proud parent, we think she's gorgeous on film. So, we decided, what the hell. The overall experience was hilarious. Maybe I should have mentioned that while Charlotte's extremely photogenic *ughm* in our eyes, we recognize that she lacks the *skillset* to cooperate on a proper photoshoot...she's more like an "action model". So, the studio setting was a bit of a challenge. But Patrick was extremely patient and had assured us he had "seen it all"; very reassuring words...even if he may have been thinking that we have no control over our dog, he never let on. he took the photos quickly and engaged her well. hubby and i had tears rolling down our eyes, the scene was so hilarious and we were having so much fun. afterwards, we were treated to a screening of the best shots in a comfortable room with a nice projection screen and comfortable couches. we made some decision on the shots and are looking forward to seeing the "retouched" version in a couple of weeks. I'd have to say my favorite photos is the one where charlotte's long tongue is wrapping around my chin and up to my opposite cheek. nice action shot indeed.

There's so much to love, but here are a few highlights: 1. The space is CLEAN! The staff work extremely hard to keep the space clean and sanitary. 2. Dogs can access the outdoors. This is a huge plus for us! It's so nice that Frank can go in and out and get some fresh air/ outside play time. Additionally, it's nice that he uses the bathroom outside so he doesn't learn bad habits. 3. The staff are on it! They watch dogs play constantly and are extremely proactive in managing play. Things don't fall through the cracks with this team! It's comforting knowing Frank is in good hands and having safe play. 4. I utilize the extra services offered all the time for nail trims, ear cleaning, and grooming needs. It's an efficient way to get these things done at the same time he's at daycare. 5. We have boarded Frank over night here and felt extremely comfortable with this. They allow you to bring items from home to put into the sleeping space - we brought a blanket, bed, and toys for Frank which was a great bonus. Made him feel a little more at home! The staff take great care of all the dogs staying overnight! 6. A bonus! We don't use this service, but transportation is available for dogs to get to/from daycare. What a great idea! 7. The staff are beyond nice! Every person there wants to be there. They are friendly, engaging, and extremely accommodating. The best team! If you're looking for a place for your dog - look no further! You aren't going to find some fly-by-night breeders there who aren't really invested in what they do because they require paperwork from everyone. Great breeders and vendors; they always have food trucks and Goth Girl Gourmet has her bakery treats and lots of people have stuff for kids, so they have fun too. They have a great facebook page where they post all the vendors and you can see who will be there and message them etc. They sell tickets for each event or you can get an annual pass and they also offer VIP entry earlier than the crowd so you can get the choice picks of any animals. This is an impressive Twin Cities reptile show - 4 stars…read more I've been out of the reptile hobby for several years. But apparently, I'm now out-of-touch! Reptiles and amphibians have gone big time in Minnesota. You no longer need to travel to Chicago or Florida to attend a big reptile show. Cold Blooded Expos puts on The Minnesota Reptile Show every few months at the Double Tree Hotel in Bloomington. Do a Google search to find the latest show dates. I brought along a young friend who loves reptiles and is somewhat obsessed with large snakes. She's definitely a budding young herpetologist! We had a blast. The show is huge and the crowds are impressive. The expo fills 2 HUGE conference centers on the second floor of the hotel. For some reason, the majority of the vendors had Ball Pythons of every size and color. I have to admit, after an hour I got a little tired of seeing, literally, hundreds of Ball Pythons. There were also a sizeable number of vendors with Geckos. Those two kinds of reptiles were the majority of specimens on offer. There were a few other interesting animals. I saw a couple of large chameleons, a few tortoises, a couple of box turtles (I didn't see any aquatic turtles), and a wonderful vendor that breeds Axolotls from St. Paul. There were a few vendors with invertebrates like spiders and centipedes. Finally, I saw at least 2 vendors with feeder insects, 1 selling habitats, a very talented wildlife artist, and a HUGE wall of bling like mugs, t-shirt, hoodies, bags, etc. My only minor gripe is the narrow selection of reptile species. Still...it was fun and worth the trip. If you have any interest in Herpetology whatsoever, I highly recommend visiting one of these shows. Also, if you're a reptile person, I suggest visiting the "Twin Cities Reptiles" pet shop in St. Paul. And if you're even more serious, The Minnesota Herpetology Society meets on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota once a month in Borlaug Hall. Thumbs up! -Maxx
