I had done a ton of reading on things it could be (I have a masters degree so I know how to do my research). I was told the clinic took my insurance (First Choice). I had my appointment and the MD spent maybe 15min at most with me, telling me things I already knew, only did a quick (15sec) look at my scalp, and said it's probably androgenic alopecia and offers a prescription to oral minoxidil and finasteride. Nothing special was done. I left the office and asked if there was anything I needed to pay and they said no. A month later I get a bill for $211! I call insurance and they tell me that since the MD billed under the diagnostic code for androgenic alopecia it wasn't a covered visit so instead of a $35 co pay I had to pay it all. They told me the billing code was for "moderate diagnostic methods at least 40min" which I do not agree was done. I feel this clinic should have communicated that such a common billing diagnosis wouldn't be covered by my common insurance. I understand that ultimately I should have checked with my insurance first, but I didn't know what diagnosis they would bill under. I will not be returning to this clinic.

I was supposed to have an appointment today but realized this morning that I hadn't gotten any confirmation from them, so I called to make sure I was still on the schedule before heading over. They told me "my" doctor, a person I had not met before, had left the practice and they would not have the capacity to reschedule me. They offered to give me the number of another clinic that they're offloading patients to. They claimed I should have received a letter and a text that my appointment was cancelled. I never got a letter, and when I went back and looked, the text I received did not actually indicate to me that the person leaving the practice was my doctor. It just said that a doctor was leaving the practice and IF you happened to have an upcoming appointment with that doctor, you should call to reschedule. Needless to say, the writing has been on the wall for awhile that this is not a clinic with a future for the kind of derms patient I am (maybe, as another review surmises, they are going 100% cosmetic which means less annoyance with insurance and more money per visit), and I guess I'm glad to have had them force me out as a patient so I can find a doctor who I will actually recognize from year to year. But man, what an unprofessional way to go about it with a pretty long term patient.

Over covid she expanded to telehealth visits which have been great for small concerns although I still generally go to the office. There is an in-house lab making routine stuff really easy. This is the kind of family care I want. She knows me and my family, makes recommendations and sees trends from regular care vs transactional appointments in walk in clinics. And when I want a referral, and I prefer a female provider, she always has someone to suggest that is a quality provider. Cheryl, her ARNP has relocated for family, and I haven't met the new provider but expect her to carry the same values and care to her clients. I've been seeing Dr. G. for 15 years now, and she's always been super-responsive to me, as has the P.A. who works with her, Cheryl Allen. In fact, although I wouldn't call myself a hypochondriac, I AM super-proactive about health issues, due to some crappy genes in the ol' gene pool. So I call the office and visit whenever a pesky issue arises (for fear it's NOT really just a "pesky" issue). Dr. G. and Cheryl have always been very accessible to me (and my husband, who is also a patient). They've always returned my calls, taken the time to answer my questions, and taken my concerns seriously. I don't know the receptionist well, but she's always been pleasant to me. The nurse I've seen there has always been SUPER nice to me. Are we speaking of the same practice??? Yes, I know Dr. G. is into providing cosmetic procedures (something I will never be into, personally), but she's never even mentioned that stuff to me. She is very into sports, fitness and nutrition, and weight loss, and she's very knowlegeable about these issues (which DO interest me). Years ago, she's referred me to the most awesome OB/GYN, and other specialists, all of whom were terrific. I'll always be grateful for these references. I genuinely feel like she wants me to be living my best life and can give me practical ways to get there. I struggle with anxiety and depression and after we tried a few medication strategies, she referred me to a psychiatrist. I really appreciated that she was willing to try a few things on me, but wasn't too proud to refer me to a specialist once things weren't working as planned. I have also had a few anxiety-related symptoms and felt like she handled them delicately and in a way that could help relieve this anxiety. I also really like the online portal. When something small comes up that I am concerned about, I am always able to get a quick answer- whether it's advice, prescriptions, or a visit scheduled. I also like being able to see our appointment notes easily. I definitely feel like she is my advocate. If something makes me uncomfortable or anxious she always has another suggestion or a way to make things better. With my physical exams, I feel really at ease. She is gentle and continues to check in with me and provide me with information. I like how she provides suggestions as we go and lets me know areas that I am healthy and areas to watch. I feel like we never miss anything and that I can be very honest with her about my physical and mental health.
