Oh boy, we're in the SOUTH…read more We arrived with a pretty big group on Sunday afternoon and found a presumably post-church line outside the theater before the box office opened for matinee. Let's actually pause and preface this by saying it's my first time visiting these there them parts and aside from sticking out like a sore thumb (people were staring at my shoes!) I've now endured three days of "y'all," "god bless," and names with two syllables being pronounced with only one and alternatively names with one syllable being pronounced with two (Ryan is now rine and Beth is now bay-eth). The actual theater is pretty depressing from the outside especially being so desolate and with such a strange, long line outside. I took a sneaky photo from the "vehicle" as they like to call cars in this area (kind of like how gas is actually called the complete word of gasoline, or really, gas-o-leeen) and will be posting it upon my escape to San Francisco where I will be less likely to be accosted at an exxon gas station (like what happened in Louisiana) by a drunken Texan who started harassing my boyfriend. Inside the theater was pretty decent, nice new stadium seats, decent snack prices and the lot, but the movie we saw was out of focus and even after alerting the staff the problem was not totally fixed..Further, the poor young ladies working behind the snack stand were burning the dim light and I had trouble getting even one of the three of them away from the credit card machine which they were having trouble with. But, I guess it's the only choice for a movie theater within about 60 miles.

Joseph who works at the concession bar needs to wake up or something. When I step out during the movie to buy something Im trying get back in as quick as possible because I'm literally missing the movie. Joseph wants to do everything as slow as absolutely possible standing there with his mouth open. I pay and then have to literally ask for him to get each item afterwards or else he just stands there catching flies. Since Ive already paid for a popcorn I shouldn't have to say, "can you make my popcorn?" Cmon man get with it already

It was difficult to see the details of people'a faces in lit up scenes, and in dark scenes it was almost impossible to tell what was happening. Additionally, the volume was very low, but we could hear the theatre next door's audio in our own theater. The only good thing about the experience was the reclining seats and food / drink tray. For the price we paid, I expected better quality. We could have paid less and gone to a nicer theatre, but we chose a more local option and paid the price. They play second run movies for only $3, matinees and Tuesdays $1. Popcorn and drinks are downright cheap and you won't have to take out a second mortgage to have a snack to enjoy with the movie. Seats, sound, and projection are all top notch and updated. The theater is now owned by the city and provides an affordable and enjoyable service to the community. I hope everyone in Searcy will support The Rialto and get out there and enjoy a night out at the movies that won't break the bank. Movies a special in this kind of environment and not in some nondescript cineplex.

I barely had enough time to get to know this courteous and down to earth people. The confederate flag waving across the street was a bit appalling to see waving in 2019, but what kind of American would I be if I didn't let my love of historic theater restoration and movies themselves and get to know these people and share the commonality that we do have. Hey, they might not be down with the statue of the confederate general too. That's their antiquated past. However, the young gentleman with the beard and cap behind the concession stand suggested a great cafe in its own right for a comfy sit down. And as I walked through this small town's serene streets back to the theater, I fantasized of how profoundly cool it would be to see my favorite cult classic movies on a summer night with a refreshing soda and warm, golden popcorn. But I had to keep to the road and the $10 shirt that I baught to help raise money to restore the seats was well with it.
