It's been many years since I've had to search for a new apartment, and I was a little nervous about…read morehow the whole apartment-hunting game had changed since my last time around. So I decided to look into using an apartment broker, to take some of the burden off myself and let a professional handle things instead... After looking at a few different firms online, I got good vibes from The Rental Girl (TRG), a boutique real estate agency here in Los Angeles, that also handles apartment searches. I liked the fact that the company is on the smaller side (around 20 or so employees, I believe), so that you really get their full attention. And for me personally, it was also a big plus to support a women-owned business. For apartment searches, they offer a couple of options: 1) You can sign up on their website to access listings on your own. or... 2) They also offer a concierge service, where they take inventory of your specific needs and wants and then do a customized search for you, which includes setting up walk-thrus, handling paperwork, and basically taking charge of all the less-fun aspects of looking for a new apartment. Their concierge service is made up of a team of people who each cover a different area of Los Angeles. For the area I was looking in, I was assigned a terrific, friendly dynamo named Itza Campos. She took great care of me every step of the way, serving as a sounding board (and even a therapist at times, lol) as we considered various apartments, before landing on just the right one. It was a true pleasure working with her and I really can't thank her enough for all the help she gave me! TRG concierge service isn't inexpensive -- it's equal to the price of one month's rent on your new apartment -- but I have to say that I consider it money VERY well-spent. Itza made the whole process fun and basically painless. I would recommend The Rental Girl without hesitation for anyone who wants help in finding the perfect place to live. Thanks again to the great team at TRG, especially Itza!

Absolutely stellar!…read more What sets Scott apart is his warmth, care, professionalism, and responsiveness. We've worked with other agents, but Scott is truly head and shoulders above the rest, and we found our perfect home because of him. He guided us through every step of the process, taught us what to look for, and helped us with all the paperwork and procedures. At first we felt overwhelmed. The market was tough, and we couldn't find a house that met our needs within our budget. Every week Scott picked out the best options for us, and he met with us every weekend. He's smart and very attentive. He took notes on all our comments and preferences and remembered every detail. He's also completely honest, never afraid to point out problems, and always ready to fight for us. By the end, we knew we could trust him fully. During the negotiations he fought hard to get us what we asked for. He put together a detailed list of repairs, worked with the inspectors and other professionals, and followed up on several items the seller hadn't delivered. He has a great network and was able to recommend a specialist for every issue. In the end, even under pressure to close on schedule, he secured the credit we needed to add vents to the crawl space and extend the gutters. When our house hunt was over, we had found not only our perfect home but also a new friend in Scott.
