My husband and I took several classes at Village Birth leading up the birth of our baby, and I found my amazing lactation consultant, Hideko, after taking a very informative breastfeeding class with Yvonne. Hideko was an invaluable resource to me after the baby was born and continued to be for many months afterward. There was no way I would be able to breastfeed as long as I have if it weren't for her. Separately, I worked with prenatal chiropractor Dr. Jenny Stofer as well, who is also part of the Village Birth group now. I had experienced quite a bit of discomfort in my back during my pregnancy and she always made me feel at ease, listened to my concerns, and took care of any issues I had quickly and gently. I always left my sessions with her feeling energized, supported and like my baby had more room in there! It was incredible. Village Birth is made up of such a thoughtful, supportive and kind group of individuals who are talented and passionate about their work. If you're nearby and having a baby, it is the best place for top notch care and information!

She's is a wonderful speaker and extremely eloquent but her involvement and skill set unfortunately ends there. Keely abandoned me and my husband during an emergency c section. I have a long list of reasons I regret hiring Keely but all I think that really matters is that I'm certain my birth experience was made considerably worse as a direct result of her involvement. I highly recommend a doula, just not this one. Good luck mamas!!!

I cannot say enough about Emilee Benner. Nine months ago, I had never even heard the word "doula"…read moremuch less knew what it meant. Today, as my wife and I are proud parents of a beautiful three-week-old girl, I couldn't imagine either of us getting through it without her. She was enthusiastic, supportive, nurturing, responsive, and 100 percent committed to shepherding us through the final, difficult months of pregnancy, and beyond. She guided us through a 26-hour labor and was by our side and actively assisting for the last 10 hours. She advised us when to go to the hospital, and was our advocate the entire time we were at the hospital. We wanted a natural birth, and if it wasn't for Emilee we wouldn't have known how to navigate around the hospital's standard operating procedure (IVs, Pitocin, pain medications, epidurals) in order to have the birth that we wanted. For guys who are reading this, the biggest question you will have is "is my wife in labor." Unless you've been through it, you have no idea what a "real" contraction is versus a Braxton-Hicks contraction, especially toward the end when the Braxton-Hicks start coming more often and more intensely. Also, there are other things that can happen toward the end that are a bit scary and even if you've taken all the classes (which we did) you will not know what is normal and what is not. I ended up texting and calling Emilee way more than my wife did, and to her great credit she always responded within minutes. The other big question is "when should we go to the hospital." There is no way that we would have been comfortable doing most of the labor at home if Emilee was not there with us. We would have gone immediately after labor started and our experience would have been much different. But a good doula will "know" when it's time. Emilee also didn't stop helping us after my wife gave birth. She has helped immensely with putting us in touch with milk donors and has checked in on us multiple times. She shows her passion with everything she does. We were lucky to have her.

We interviewed more than 10 doulas before meeting Emilee. The moment she walked into our apartment,…read morewe knew she was the one. She has a great down-to-earth energy, but is also very frank. She was the only doula who actually asked us more questions than we asked her. She seemed genuinely interested in our birth and we were as excited to work with her as she with us. Emilee is very knowledgeable. I consider myself a bit of a research junky, but I always learn something new after a meeting with Emilee. Her meetings with us before and after the birth were very informative and helpful. During the birth, she followed our lead beautifully and added bits of her own that really made our day run smoothly. From aromatherapy to massage to different positions and breathing, I always felt like Emilee would have 5 more ideas if something wasn't working. In the end I had a very short (10 hour) first labor and I know Emilee was a big part of that. She helped give me the confidence to let my body and my baby do what they needed to do. Thank you Emilee. You're amazing!

She was also a valuable resource for myself and my husband for questions, support and general education and information. Her capsules and tincture packaging were very high quality and came with detailed and valuable instructions. I can't stress enough how grateful we were!! I personally really enjoyed taking her yoga classes at Golden Sol in Los Feliz, she has an extensive array of knowledge - from pregnancy to birth and the journey onward into motherhood. I felt supported and empowered by the information Sada supplied me with. My husband and I also took private childbirth ed classes with her. Sada seemed to be especially passionate about home-birth, but when I would see her interact with women having hospital births she had SO MUCH information to share with them about the hospitals and doctors they'd be working with. It was amazing really, and part of the reason I was so drawn to working with her. My labor was about 33.5 hours total, and at the first sign of labor (my labor started hard and fast) Sada came over and sat with me so my husband could get some rest since we had a big day ahead. When she came back the next afternoon, I was still laboring, and completely exhausted. She helped me (and my team) stay focused, and was the strong energy I needed to get through my slow labor. Leading up to my labor Sada was a continuous support system for my husband and I. She checked in with me, counseled me, hugged me when I needed a hug and really took the time to dive in deep so that she could help me have the experience I wanted. After my baby was born, we had a lovely visit a few days later sharing fruit, gawking at all the hair on my sweet babes head, and discussed the happenings of my birth. : ) I ended up making smoothies with my placenta, so i did not need to utilize LABK's placenta medicine services, but Emiliee did teach me how to make a tincture just incase I wanted to make one with any left over placenta (which I ended up doing). Sada was lovely to work with, and I just wish she did postpartum classes because I miss her! :)

The second half starts with a video and spends more time additional breathing techniques and what to expect/do to prep for labor. This is a great class for first time parents. After registering, I had a question about the class schedule, and it took almost 2 weeks and multiple emails/phone calls again to get any kind of a response. This whole process has made me nervous as I'm giving birth at Huntington in a few months and hope this experience is not a reflection on the whole department!

I come from a family with two doctors as…read moreparents, so a lot of my understanding of pregnancy and birth had always been shaped through that lens. Looking back now, I honestly cannot imagine going through this experience without Rebecca. From the beginning, she brought this calm, grounding presence into a season of life that can feel so unknown and emotional. She answered countless questions, checked in often, and somehow always knew how to make me feel more steady when my mind was spinning. I never felt judged by her. I felt supported, heard, cared for, and genuinely safe. We originally planned for a home birth, but our plans changed and we ultimately ended up at the hospital. In a moment that could have felt scary and lonely, Rebecca helped make the experience feel held. I still remember looking around the hospital room thinking how different this all was from what I had imagined, and feeling so grateful that she was there beside me. Her presence felt like an anchor in the middle of a storm. Doula support is not just about birth itself. It starts long before labor and continues long after the baby arrives. Rebecca spent so much time preparing me emotionally and practically for what was ahead, and after birth she continued to show up in ways that mattered deeply to me. She helped with lactation, helped my baby latch, answered late-night questions, and reminded me that I did not have to figure everything out alone. In those blurry, emotional first days of motherhood, having someone there with experience, gentleness, and real compassion made all the difference. Rebecca supported me through the entire transformation into becoming a mother. That is what I will always value most. She is truly incredible. When the time comes for baby number two, there will not be a second thought about calling her again.

By the end, our eyes had been opened to just how much more comprehensive Rebecca's offerings are. As first time parents, there were questions we were getting caught up on and others we didn't know to ask. She supported both of us, not only in the moments of labor and labor prep, but beyond the birth of our baby and getting set up for the marathon ahead. Rebecca knew just when to offer help and ideas, and made sure we felt heard and confident in every decision. We loved Los Angeles Birth so much that we didn't think twice about using her for our second baby as well.

Would I recommend Brandi Jordan as a sleep consultant? Not unless you're a celebrity or have…read morethousands of dollars to waste. For the average parent, you'll likely spend thousands of dollars only to end up back where you started--with vague, generic advice you could easily find online and some added reassurance. Brandi's approach offers little to no long-term guidance. She works on a day-by-day basis without providing written materials or a structured plan to follow, which makes it nearly impossible to build consistency once the sessions end. It feels like being handed a toolkit for a toy bike when you're trying to fix a kitchen sink, completely mismatched and ultimately unhelpful. Throughout our experience, she asked for detailed information about our child's sleep schedule, feeding patterns, and behaviors, which was time-consuming to document. Yet, those details seemed disregarded, as the feedback almost always boiled down to a generic "you'll have to let the baby cry," delivered in a reassuring but repetitive way. Months later, we're still struggling to get our child to sleep independently. We received no follow-up documents, no lasting framework, and no practical tools to help us move forward. After spending over $1,000, we were left feeling misled, frustrated, and uncertain about what to do next. If you're considering hiring Brandi, I urge you to think carefully. Save your time, energy, and resources. Look for a consultant who offers structured support, written guidance, and consistent follow-through; not someone whose attention is divided elsewhere. Parents deserve more than being treated like another number in the queue. Updated response to Brandi... I actually worked with you in April 2025, and communication stopped soon after the contract period ended. We followed your instructions exactly as outlined. Not every child responds the same way, and sometimes a more individualized approach is necessary, but it became clear you didn't have the time or availability to provide that level of support.

TW: postpartum depression, prematurity, self-harm…read more There's a reason there are very few reviews more recent than 2021, and they are negative. We contracted Brandi Jordan as a sleep consultant in June 2025 when we were in a truly desperate situation; I was hallucinating from sleep deprivation and suffering terrible postpartum depression. In hindsight, I figure that's how we fell for this. We paid over $1500 and here's what we got: a single one hour Zoom, a single 30 minute phone call about a week later (for which she was 20 minutes late), and 30-40 days of "text support," though there were several instances where she did not respond for three days despite our texts. I felt "left on read." To be fair to her, it was in our contract that this is what we could get: a one hour zoom, up to 3 follow-up calls and 30 days of text support. When I signed the contract, I did think this was sort of minimal, but I was desperate and figured "hey, maybe she can work magic." At our initial Zoom call, she said she had "never met a baby that couldn't sleep through the night after 2-3 weeks, max," so we were thrilled and hopeful! Now I know why this is true; she doesn't actually *meet* the babies- It's all virtual! She absolutely cannot work magic; please don't fall for this marketing that preys on desperate parents like we did. I feel stupid for having believed her. As other reviews have said, there is no individual tailoring, and the method she uses is essentially soft Ferberizing: letting the baby cry and cry with intermittent check-ins that get progressively longer. This was torture for all of us. Our baby was born extremely prematurely at 26 weeks and spent nearly 3 months in the NICU before coming home on oxygen. We did this contract when she was about 9 months old (6 months adjusted). We were obviously all still traumatized, and she had a lot of difficulty self-soothing at all. There was no troubleshooting about what how her and our individual situation might be contributing to sleep issues. Listening to her cry for 90 minutes in the middle of the night resulted in my self-harming several times (again, I had bad PPD). We did it though, because Brandi told us to. How it would work is that every morning we would text Brandi how the night went, and she would maybe respond that day saying something like "okay let's do that again" or "let's push this feed back 15 minutes" or something. A lot of the time she just wouldn't respond. I gave two stars because after the 30-40 days, our baby was sleeping a bit better than at the beginning (only 2-4 wakeups a night instead of 10). Additionally, this is way too expensive for such minimal support. You can find all this information online (Ferber with intermittent check-ins and dream feeds). Maybe if you have a normal or semi-easy baby this would work, but otherwise only time will help. Our baby is now 1 and wakes up about once a night every other night; only time got us here.
