I walked in without an appointment for a foot massage. I was greeted by a kind woman who got me situated. I was sweating and hot from the walking, but they took care of me. Gave me water to drink and put the fan on me to cool me down. It was a very quiet environment and they had a television for you to watch and relax in the common area. They also have several private rooms for body massages. I enjoyed my time there and will be back in the future. read more

Love this place! Did a last minute appointment. The 1 hour body massage for $50 was heaven. Tammy did such a thorough and wonderful job on me. She really nailed my problem areas which are shoulder and back. Man, is she strong too. I enjoyed that she walked on me. Been looking and needed that. Very talented. Will be back! read more

A GEM After dining nearby, our group of four women wanted to get foot massages. One of us is fluent in Chinese, so she called the place we went to once. Unfortunately, they were booked. I searched Yelp and found this spot, which was literally down the street from where we ate. When we called, they said they would accommodate us, so we headed their immediately. Yes, it looks cheesy from the outside, but that's the way they are. When we arrived, there was a bit of confusion, but after I mentioned we had just spoken to someone on the phone, they led us into the inner sanctum where we each chose a bed for our 15 minute Shoulder + Back + 45 minute Foot Massage ($40). Speaking Chinese probably helped. The room was low lit, which made it very relaxing, but the glow from the muted TV on the wall bothered me enough to put a blanket over my eye lids. Next time, I'll bring an eye mask. Soft music enhanced the ambience. I wish I had asked my masseuse what his name was because he was amazing! He made my feet feel awesome. The shoulder and back massage touched on some painful points, but I could tell my chi was flowing. We each tipped $10 and paid for our treatments when they were done. I'm not sure if they accept credit cards since I used cash. I thought I was the only one who wanted to cry out a few times when he worked on my back, but my friends laughed when we were in the car and said they did, too. Still, we all agreed this was great. Now, we are determined to make this affordable jewel a regular wellness ritual. read more

Horrible experience. The massage therapist went out several times during the session but didn't count for the time she didn't work on massage. We gave 20% tips but they wouldn't let us leave unless we leave at least 30% tips. Beware! read more

I initially learned of this spa on a bridal shower weekend 15 years ago. After a great meal in Monrovia we went to have foot massages with brand new flip flops in tow. What a great massage it was! And I've been coming ever since. I've brought several people young & elderly to experience their professional work. I haven't received the hot tea afterwards in a long time like it use to be. But who knows, maybe it will return that was a nice treat after a relaxing massage. The staff is really nice and courteous. I will be a continued customer as long as the quality stays the same. read more

Sapphire Spa - Very clean - Massage Therapy Near Me - San Gabriel, California

This was my second time going to this spa but I'm not coming back again. The first time I tried this place was okay, so I gave the benefit of the doubt. However, this is my second try and they did not give me good service. I had called earlier for an appointment, and upon my arrival they were saying that they didn't had that appointment scheduled. Their demeanor was like if they didn't want to give me service at the actual appointment time I had requested, so I told them I would go somewhere else then-immediately they said ok we're going to treat you. Also, they charged me upfront first before starting the foot massage, which was strange to me because the first time I came they charged me after the service. Anyhow, even though I did get my foot massage, it was not that good either. So I'm not planning to come here again. I like to support small businesses, but with this type of service, it does not help them either. read more

They have very good massage therapists. I go there at least once a month and enjoy hot stone massages there.

2 stars cause I used to like it here enough to come back few times a year. Otherwise this would definately be 1 star. Today's visit made me mad enough to actually not come back anymore. I made a phone appointment to come in at 3:45pm, Tina calls me back and asks me to come earlier in which I replied I cannot as I'm not off work yet. Then she asks me to come after 4:20 in which I said I still can't cause I have other obligations around 5pm so I literally only can come in somewhere between 3:45-4pm for a 60 minute massage. So at that point she could have told me sorry we don't have time. But she didn't, she told me to come anyways, so I went. I get there at my appointment time to hear her calling on the phone looking for people to help me. I wanted to ask her if there's anyone, if not then I'll just leave. Then she ends up deciding to help me herself which I thought was weird cause she said she had someone coming at 4.... so what ends up happening is she massages me for 5 minutes and then tells me her appt is here and the next person will help me in another "5" minutes. At that point I can't say no... so if coarse I said ok. 15 minutes later the next lady finally comes in and it was already 4:20... exactly the time when Tina called me back initially to ask me to come in timeframe. Now I look at the new lady and ask how are you guys going to charge as I got massaged for 5 minutes, then waited another 15 minutes before you got here. Next lady was nice enough to return my waiting time to me but in general the whole massage was very upsetting as I felt like I was tricked to come in and now had 2 masseuse, was in an awkward situation, layed there for 15 minutesin between just waiting around for nothing, and have to rush to my next destination after the massage to not be late. When the massage finished, I paid, tipped, and rushed to leave. But that was such an uncomfortable and unrelaxing massage from all the mental stress and waiting around, it was not worth. I rushed to the next place and somehow ended up pulling a neck muscle when I got there definately due to an uncomfortable massage and stress. (I honestly think it was from me lying on my belly for about 1 hour total waiting for massage and then getting the massage... and due to the awkward timing and different people of the massage, I never even got a neck or head massage, the transition was also horrible) Overall, I feel that they could have been honest and said they didn't have time. (Doesn't make sense to switch masseuse) people understand if you're booked...... But I felt that they tricked me to come in even though they didn't have time, had me wait regardless, and left me in such an uncomfortable and awkward position and mindset that I did not enjoy my massage one bit. That defeats the purpose of going to a massage. Now I have pulled neck muscle for $60 (60 min massage plus tip) Their unprofessional employee caused them to lose a client read more

Jenny was my masseuse and she was really amazing! Me and bf did the 60mins full body massage in a single room together and had the besssttt time. The hot oil is the best part and the hot stones!! It was $40 for a whole hour not that bad at all! And they give you hot tea afterwards hehe. They ask you throughout the massage to see if you're okay which is really nice! Will be back read more

A few of us came here because they had a lot of last minute openings available. Foot massage was nothing to write home about, and when they tried to massage my head, it was really hard and it hurt. They demanded a 40% tip when we paid, were very aggressive about it, and made us all feel extremely uncomfortable. We ended up giving it to them because it was a very awkward situation and we did not want to be confrontational. We felt like we were being extorted. Not sure if this is normal for these types of places, but we've never encountered anything like that before. That is not professional, and you should not be doing that if you want long term or returning customers. So, of course we won't be coming back, and def would not recommend to anyone else. That was a really unpleasant and weird experience. read more

Sapphire Spa - This is the best massage parlor I've ever been to，Clean and comfortable - Massage Therapy Near Me - San Gabriel, California

My boyfriend and I had been here once before and came away with a great experience, so we thought it could become our regular massage place. We called in for any available appointments and were told to come around 8pm. Upon our arrival, we chose to get 90-minute foot and body combo massages and were taken in immediately for our foot massages, which turned out to be good overall. However, I noticed that my boyfriend's therapist seemed new and inexperienced, since she kept asking questions to my therapist in Mandarin. When we switched into a private room for our body massages, it got even more unprofessional. She kept asking about the time they could clock out, whether she should have cooled down the hot stones with water first, and generally what to do during the massage like how many strokes to use and when to add massage oil. For this part of the massage, my own therapist felt like she was just repeating movements on my back because she was trying to kill time and didn't do much to my legs, and we didn't get any massage to the front of our body like we did last time. On top of that, the transition to finishing was horrible and my boyfriend's therapist ended it by asking "we're off soon right? but I haven't done xyz yet." My therapist responded with, "do it quickly...you're so troublesome." I later asked my boyfriend how the massage ended for him, since he doesn't understand Mandarin, and he said it felt really random. If you and your staff are not prepared to provide an adequate and professional experience, then don't accept our appointments! It just makes it uncomfortable and unpleasant for both sides. I thought it was generous to leave a 23% tip for a rotten experience from unprofessional staff, but my therapist seemed unhappy when she rung me up and as we were leaving, she called us back and demanded that we tip at least 30% for giving us 90 minute massages. I'm embarrassed and angry to say that I ended up giving it to them, because what I actually should've done was tell them what I heard throughout the 90 minutes they thought I didn't understand Mandarin. I hope this review helps others to avoid getting extorted similarly. Suffice to say, this is our last time coming here. read more

First time trying this massage spa! Greeted by a nice lady, told me the price right off the bat $45 for full body massage 60 min which include oil & hot rocks! Multiple full body massage rooms! Clean, relaxing music & the workers were not loud! It seems they have alot of female workers. I was very comfortable, no weird vibes & will be going back again! 10/10 recommend! read more

I had the most unprofessional masseuse at this place. I ordered a 70 minute combo massage and got 60 minutes instead, so the masseuse ended 10 minutes early. The massage itself wasn't the greatest. Afterwards, I gave my masseuse a 10% tip (which I thought was already generous for a mediocre massage and less time that was agreed upon) and the lady literally laughed in my face and said that I must be new. Then she demanded a 30-40% tip. I felt so uncomfortable/awkward and was shocked that they would demand tips. Isn't it up to the customer instead of being entitled to it? I ended up giving her a little more, but will definitely not be coming back here. I should have read the other reviews on this. read more

Jenny and her other friend [i forgot her name, sorry!] did the couples massage for me and my lady, and they crushed it. They did the full body massage from head to toe, including the warm oil and hot stones [1 hour for $40, but worth every penny]. The rooms were dimly lit and carried a nice ambience. Everyone here were always smiling and super friendly. Our new favorite place! read more

Amazing staff they took me in as a walk in last minute. Ive never had a massage and didn't know what to expect. They asked if I wanted a male or female masseuse to ensure I was comfortable but I guess some people already had appts and they ended up giving me the first available female (no complaints) the entire time she kept making sure I was relaxed and that the pressure was okay. Got rocks and oil felt amazing definitely coming back read more

Sapphire Spa - Updated pricing July 2021 - Massage Therapy Near Me - San Gabriel, California

This is one of the best spas I've ever been to. It is impeccably clean, the rooms are lovely and the massage tables have very comfortable mattresses. Best of all are the masseuses: I have had both Jenny and Amy , both of whom were extremely professional and really helped me with my shoulder and back problems. My Korean wife also comes with me and she loves the whole experience: the people, the massage, the hot rocks, the music and the very reasonable pricing. We are going back tomorrow! read more

I came to this spa under the current new membership. The new owner, Jenny is very approachable and willing to help. She keeps the spa very nice with great and relaxing ambience. I noticed that the facility is very clean and all of the rooms have clean towels. I had Linda for massage. She is really wonderful. She'd listen to what I told her about my knots and problem areas. Her strokes are firm and after her massage, all my aches and pain are melted away. I also tried Jenny's massage at one occasion as Linda was busy. Jenny's massage is also exceptional. She's able to feel all my knots and her pressure and strokes are just right to ease all the pain. If the knots are particularly stubborn, she applies Bengay to relax the muscle. Every time I had a massage, I slept so well afterwards. I encourage anybody to wants a decent massage to go to Sapphire. You won't be disappointed with their service. read more

I came here a few times and got my massages from Linda, who is amazing and I tipped her well because the service was great... The last two experiences were horrible. Linda wasn't available so I got a male masseuse and he had cracked rough fingers .. yes cracked fingers that scratched my face and skin when getting the massage. gross! it was mostly foot so I didn't say anything. I went back to get a foot massage from someone else, because Linda wasn't available again. The massage was ok (not amazing) and when I was paying, I tipped 20% for an hour foot massage. The lady demanded I pay her over 30%! Isn't tipping up to the customer and how much the CUSTOMER wish to tip?? unbelievable... left such a bad taste, definitely NOT going back. giving a extra star for Linda! read more

I asked for strong and it was pretty weak. If you like softer massage then come here. But I like it strong and I want them to work out knots and do pressure points. This one didn't focus on anything. It was very much a Swedish, relaxing type of massage. Not what I like or am used to but it wasn't horrible. It just wasn't what I wanted read more

I had a super wonderful experience with Mr.Lu in Sapphire spa. I have been to several spas both in US and China. Lu is the most and the only massager I would give SIX Star for him! He is super professional, he knows all the places you don't feel good or comfortable. After one session with him, my lower back and neck were completed recovered. My entire body and muscle were totally relax!! It's a magic! He is even better than my chiropractor!! If you go there, please have an appointment with Mr. Lu!! You won't regret it. read more

Not the strongest massage. I will always give the benefit of the doubt, when the answer is they are strong. Since it is very subjective. I forget the persons name who massaged me, but it seemed effortless to her. Did not ask if I was doing okay or needed any particular region addressed, nor to increase or decrease strength. read more

Not bad at all (as in kinda like this place). They have 60mins massage for $35 and 90 mins for $50. They charge a buck if you use credit card. Pay up front, but tip at the end. My only dilemma is: don't know how much to tip. Anyways, the receptionist-business owner lady was rather easy to talk to. I've inquired on several things and she answered and explained to me with patience. The venue. The place overall seemed pretty clean for a small, local, mom n pop massage parlor. The main hall is dimly lit for a more relaxed ambience I take it. The body massage treatments take place in the individual rooms, which is exactly what I wanted/was looking for. Not down for one of those rooms separated by curtains with people walking by all the time. My masseuse was fairly good imo. I liked her, but didn't get her name. She's the one that looked kinda chunky, but friendly. We didn't really talk during the massage session except when she asked me if the pressure is too much or light and to flip over, etc. Overall, a keeper for a non fancy, but simply, clean and convenient massage place with reasonable prices. read more

My mom went in for her massage and she asked for a specific areas but they said the time and type of massage wasn't going to cut it so they strong handed her into doing a longer one. She said the service was fine, but when she went to pay the lady asked her to tip more. Her service was $40 and she was going to give a $6 type, but they insisted she give $10 because "no one gives that little of a tip". I think someone should be able to tip whatever they want. Regardless, this has happened to my siblings on different occasions so beware. Just don't give in to people no matter how much they try to guilt trip you! read more

I stumbled across this place when it was previously owned but decided to give the new spot a chance. Great massage place! Very clean and quiet. Great place to relax and wind down. Amazing massages! I always come back.

Okay, mixed review coming! They booked us same day, which was great. Of course, whatever you find in this neighborhood is probably comparable in terms of service, quality, price, etc. My massage person was SO STRONG. Oh my word, the strongest massage I've ever had in my life. It hurt but it felt amazing. Everything I would want in a massage! But the next few days I had quite a bit of muscle soreness, so honestly it was probably too much, and I kind of regretted it after. My husband was there with me and his massage person was much much weaker. He had pain in his lower back pretty much right after the massage and for the rest of the day. I've had enough massages in my life to know that pain is not normal, so definitely something to consider.. The workers don't speak too much English. It was a little awkward walking in and not really knowing what I was supposed to do, but that's fine, and to be expected really. It's SG after all, and I'm no newbie around here. Anyway, my massage was amazing so I can't really complain too much read more
