They sent a text to "confirm the confirmation" and sent it to the right phone number, wrong area code, so of course we didn't get it. After finally admitting to their mistake the guy said he'd fix up a room for us four of guys and not charge us. They did put in two roll up beds. But the room was trash, tv had been removed, coffee maker had been removed, door knob fell off the bathroom door. What a mess. To top if off, the next morning the guys wife or sister said she was going to charge us anyway because they needed the money. AVOID! After a half dozen stays, we stay there no more.

Access is through a separate door into the building and up the stairs on the inside and then you go outside to access your room door. The carpet in this area and up the stairs is absolutely filthy - huge stains and wear. When we checked in, the door to the back lane was blocked by garbage. If you are staying in Rooms 210, 211 or 218 and 219, if there is a fire at the access door, you would have to jump down one floor onto the ground. There is no other exit. Is this acceptable re: fire codes? Interestingly, the clerk did NOT ask for my ID as happens in other places. The beds were comfortable - no tub, only a shower.

I had found their website online while on my trip - and noticed that they allowed pets without a problem. Since I was travelling with 3 cats, and I was very concerned about finding a place that would allow them, I aimed for this motel on my 2nd day of driving. Ignace is a pretty small town in the middle of no where - so I guess I can't complain about the lack of options. The Trading Post Motel was average. The signs outside the motel indicated it had recently been bought by new owners and they were changing the way they ran the motel - including doing some renovations. I didn't make a reservation, but was able to get a room when I walked in. Unfortunately I asked for a single room and none were available - so they gave e a double for the same price. However, they told me I wasn't allowed to use the 2nd bed. I'm not exactly sure what that means! It would be physically impossible for me to sleep in 2 beds anyway ... but I did use the pillows from the 2nd bed. And some of the cats did sleep on the 2nd bed. But I kept the blankets pulled up. What concerns me about this request (don't use the 2nd bed) is that I'm not sure if they simply didn't want extra people to spend the night in the room without paying. Or if this meant that they didn't change the sheets of the 2nd bed - assuming no one used it. Does that mean it's possible I was sleeping in a bed that was someone else's "2nd bed" and they spent the night in there and no one changed the sheets before I used it? Anyway ... the room itself was quite a good size. It had a computer desk, 2 queen beds, a sitting area, fridge and microwave. It had no closet - just a hanging bar attached to one of the walls. The bathroom looked recently renovated - but in a cheap way. And the vents were absolutely filthy. They also had a set of lights in-between the beds (attached to the wall) that weren't plugged in. There was no outlet anywhere near them - so they were actually useless. Not sure who planned that - but it was pretty bad. The room was fairly clean - but could have been cleaner. I would recommend the motel only because there aren't a lot of options in the area and at least I have experience with this place. But they could improve a few things.

We really appreciated the rollaway bed during our stay. The pool area was fun. The restaurant was good. The view from our room was beautiful. I was worried about pet or snowmobile noise but we had no issues. Most notably we left things behind in the room. Our fault but the staff was very helpful in getting it back to us. This may have been the first time a hotel has confirmed our forgotten items and facilitated their return.

Dropping and picking up canoe for the afternoon with directions, map and lifevest. I Enjoyed an afternoon canoeing with my dog. The Inn was clean and conveniently located downtown Ely and walkable to all the shops, restaurants and park. My stay included complimentary coffee and bakery item at Northern Grounds coffee and wine bar a block away. Both the coffee and muffin/scones were pretty amazing! There was a common kitchen with refrigerator, sitting room with fireplace. Coffee and tea available 24/7. I really appreciated them making me and my little dog feel so welcome and taken care of. My room was spotlessly clean with plenty of towels and a handmade soap. No need to bring much all the toiletries were there including a hairdryer. Outside seating was available on the deck. The other guests were friendly and pretty respectful of quiet hours so I slept well. Should I return to ELY, MN again I will stay at THE STAY INN and will recommend to anyone headed to the area.

They were more than accommodating, helpful, friendly and full of knowledge about Pelican Lake and the surrounding areas. I came with my boyfriends family who have been fishing for 30+ years. These past four years I fish regularly and really like it...but now I get it-and I love it. The Lake will make you a fisherman. The sun is up at 5a and doesn't set until almost 10p on some nights. When it's too hot try out the putting (it's pretty challenging and well maintained) They have Frisbee Golf, a bike boat, canoes and some great places to sit, relax and enjoy the view and sounds of Orr, MN. I was very comfortable and felt very safe. If you need anything town is just 15 minutes away. Each cabin has a BBQ and some come with a dock (we were lucky ours had one) I wish I had more time than a week. I just went into the lodge for the first time right before we left and it was amazing.
