Super beautiful spot to stop in Ely for a meal and a view. Large menu with a lot to choose from and quick and courteous service! We had the wontons and the walleye along with soups and salad. Ball were full of flavor!

Went here for my wife's Birthday. Excellent place to get away from everything. Very clean and cozy with good service. The on-site restaurant was also very good. With a nice menu selection and also good bar. The one issue I had with this place was the snow-mobiliers coming in out of the snow smelling like oil and gas and filling up the place with fumes. The smell only lasted a little while but was nauseating at the time. The should have a separate "mud room" area for these people to come in through.

They allowed us to check in super early. All of the workers at the front were always super nice & helpful. We ordered food from one of the restaurants & was told it would be ready in 20 minutes and instead it took an hour and a half. Probably the only downfall. Outside our rooms were some chairs to watch the sunset & sunrise, which are absolutely stunning in that area. Only issue we had was the room next to us & their dog who kept attacking others. The pool & hot tub were wonderful as well. I really liked that they had towels down in the pool room so we didn't have to use our room towels.

Very good breakfast we had this morning ! Brittons closed down or temporarily closed so it broke our hearts but found the unique and sweet spot , sat inside having our hot chocolate, breakfast and watch the snow fall! Service was very sweet! Suggestions were shared and the food was really good ! Kids had French roast and the andouille skillet was wonderful!

Great lodge in Ely,MN. This time I did not stay here, but in years past I did. Rooms were just fine. Nice lobby, shop, pool area, I think there is a small game room. But this trip we visited the bar and had dinner. I had the french dip with fries, husband had Hoist burger, they were both good. Also good beer prices. Friendly staff.

Very friendly staff, rooms need updating for a business traveler. Attentive service in bar and friendly check-in service.

Rude MAÎTRE D', marginal wait staff with wrong order, passable food at best. Would not go there again unless there were limited choices.

We arrive, check in saying we have a dog, they moved us from the room we rented to a 10' x 14' room with a double bed, no headboard, theft deterrent devices on the pillows, extremely loud air conditioning in a bright-high traffic area (not good for dogs). Then to top it off they charged us extra for the dog! This being the 4th of July weekend left us no other choice but to endure a sleepless night in a room we grossly overpaid for. After all fees we paid roughly $180 to stay in a cell.

I like to be honest with my reviews, not try to oversell a place I like. That said, let's list some…read moreof Ely Motels' potential shortcomings: This is an old motel. It's exterior looks old and a bit shabby. The rooms are small, there's no getting around that. Much of the decor is also dated. The TVs are small, and the AC unit in our room was noisy. The parking lot is comically small. Now that all that is out of the way... onto the pros: The rooms, though small, are clean. The AC had a noisy fan, but it was modern, efficient, worked well, and even had a remote control. There were plenty of outlets in the room to plug in peripheral gear and devices. The Queen mattress was new and a medium-firmness. The mini fridge was an upright with a little freezer, not a cube. It also appeared to be new, as did the microwave and coffee maker. Also new were the bathroom fixtures, such as toilet, sink and shower head - a note about the shower: The owners are committed to a green motel experience. To that end they have dispensers for soap and shampoo rather than little bottles and bars. And their hot water is supplemented by solar heating. The shower head is amazing! Speaking of the owners, they are new owners of the motel and are very enthusiastic about their business and the town. They had some great recommendations for us, from dining, to day trips. For the amount of money that we paid during peak season (less than half of most other places), this place outshines its shortcomings. But keep in mind, if you're looking for the lap of luxury, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an affordable stay that is a comfortable night's sleep and a hot shower, then this IS the place for you.
