I met Jennifer at a Sammamish Business Women's Luncheon, and was impressed both by how clearly she stated the mission of her practice, and by her confidence in her abilities. I had been frustrated with ongoing pain from an old injury to my left big toe. I had dislocated it years ago, and it never properly recovered. It would develop intense, throbbing pain that would wake me up at night on a regular basis. This was the primary issue I hoped to resolve working with Jennifer.
As a writer and editor constantly hunched over my laptop, I also wanted some guidance on how to better my posture, and avoid the "dowager hump" rounded upper back women so often develop with age.
Finally, I was hoping to feel some improvement in the gut area. I've lived with Crohn's disease for 40+ years and, except for being on meds for a year after I was diagnosed, have managed it with diet and lifestyle the entire time. But with the scar tissue that develops with Crohn's my gut often feels heavy and compacted, and I hoped Jennifer could offer some insight into how to alleviate that feeling.
I had an initial session with Jennifer, and loved it. I've always responded well to acupuncture, acupressure, and massage, and Jennifer's bodywork style is almost like "acuplaning" - long, firm, strokes with sustained applied pressure. We worked primarily on my foot problem, and I felt relief immediately. I decided to sign up for the Total Transformation Program - KMI 12-Series.
Since completing the program, I no longer have an issue with pain in my injured big toe waking me up at night, woo-hoo! Seriously - the pain has not recurred once we began our work together. With better posture and stance, better balance throughout my entire body, more even and complete points of contact through my feet as I walk, longer stride, and softer footfall, I've had the sensation of my entire skeleton being "rehung." I feel taller, lighter, with more space between my ribcage and hipbones, and even a longer feeling in my neck. This is a hugely positive sensation, as I am short-proportioned and have always felt compact and stocky.
Because the KMI 12-Series is a journey that pays attention to every section of the body (even nostrils), I feel I've received adjustments, gained knowledge, and developed new habits throughout my entire body so that all my systems work together in greater balance and harmony.
My three primary goals of lessening/eradicating the pain of my toe injury, learning how to avoid dowager hump, and lessening the heavy feeling in my gut were all happily achieved. I feel a greater sense of consciousness and connection throughout my body, and I've realized good physical habits and awareness are not just things to be practiced a few times a week, like a workout. They should and can be incorporated into daily life as a matter of natural fact.
There's a book on de-cluttering and organization that's very popular right now, Marie Kondo's The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. In it, Ms. Kondo establishes her method of sorting through clutter, stating that every item in your life should have a designated home when it can be easily found, thoroughly enjoyed, and then properly replaced where it belongs.
Throughout my work with Jennifer, it dawned on me the same tenet is true for the body: Everything in your body -- muscles, bones, veins, sinews, organs -- has a "home," the correct place where it belongs to function optimally and enrich your life. The KMI 12-Series is a fantastic way to "de-clutter" your body. You find the proper place where things belong, learn techniques to help put and keep them there, and reap the benefit of getting the most out of what you carry around with you every day: your body.
