I've been dancing since the middle of 2002 to now, starting On1 for two years and then seeing the only one couple in Orlando dancing On2, that did it for me and I switched styles. Never looked back!
The past 3 weeks I've been going to Santo Rico Dance here in FL to better my dancing. There were no schools here when I was learning so I had NO foundation and NO technique. Personally for me, I found it here! (Every school and student is different in teaching and learning - what may work for you may not work for someone else and it's okay). The 8 week cycles are not what I expected. I was expecting a different shine every week and new turn pattern as well. However, it is not like that at all. One long awesome shine and one turn pattern is repeated throughout the cycle and I have to admit it, I truly enjoy this. Here are my reasons why I like it:
1) Tomas takes the time to break everything down from movement of the body to styling up to your own flare.
2) He gives commendation as well as giving up-building critique to better and challenge yourself. Tomas does not give up on his students, he sees the potential.
3) Repetition, Repetition, Repetition!!! This is one of the things I truly enjoy. I get to be comfortable in what I'm learning and allowing it to mold into my style of dancing socially.
4) LEADING: With just ONE turn pattern throughout the cycle, the guys get to really master their leading, prepping the ladies (it's a gold mine when you dance with someone who gives you proper prepping) and footwork.
5) Lastly, IT'S A LOT OF FUN!!!
It's like they say, you get what you paid for and I know it's worth every single penny, even my 45 min drive. I highly recommend you try Santo Rico you won't regret it!!!
