I been taking privates for a little bit. Off/on. I went to a beginners 2 class with I think his name is Amar. And he is a great instructor, however he was a little bit too judgmental. I did not like he handle stuff. we are adults and you should call ppl out and embarrass them as he did me. If we are doing something wrong b nice and correct us. Dont call us out in front of the class. At the end of the day we are paying for you to teach not to humiliate or embarrass us. I met my wife while line dancing. Several years after we moved to Orlando, she wanted to take Salsa dance lessons so we started at Salsa Heat East Orlando. We have had some great instructors and lately have had Michie and Sam. They know how to break down the dances which makes them easy to learn. Sam as an instructor must know the girls part and he shows off some of the styling moves. Makes it interesting. Michie is easy to dance with and takes time to step out the moves when I can't get them right away. We all have a good time at Saturday's lessons. Y'all come. read more

I found out about Salsa Heat via Groupon. There was an offering of 10 classes for $49 so I decided to purchase lesson for me and my guy -- part of a Valentine's Day Gift. It took us a few months to finally get our act together and start attending classes in June. From the very first day, everyone -- the young lady at the front desk, all of the instructors and all of the regular students made me (us) feel welcomed. I like how the curriculum is designed in levels that break down the steps and build upon each other as you move up. Each student must test out of the current level by going through a quick dance test with an instructor to demonstrate that you know the moves of the level well enough. The Instructors are patient and knowledgeable; they really make learning to dance simple and fun. I was able to get to Beginner II in just a few lessons and have decided to continue on with them. I am hoping to test into Intermediate I very soon and start attending the Friday Night Dance socials. The Salsa Socials are offered 3 Fridays of each month and a Saturday. They are free to students attending class on that day and about $12 otherwise. I am looking forward to being able to practice (that is, feel comfortable) what I'm learning at a Social. The also have a Ballroom Dance Social one Sunday/month for a small fee; you can get a 1 hour lesson before the Social begins. They also have children's lessons on Saturday mornings for about $40/month. Overall, I'm having a great time here and I am looking forward to being a continuing student here. read more

The dancing and instruction were top notch. The regulars ( students) looked very competent. My wife and I are salseeos from the DC area. We chose not to dance with anyone else. i guess the rules for masks and social distancing are not as strict in FL as they are in VA or DC . Only 20 % wore masks and dance partners were being rotated continuously with no hand sanitizer stations in sight. Despite, that we had a great time dancing salsa and bachata. Definitely will return especially to social dance after the pandemic is over. read more

I had a very negative experience on Wednesday, April 12. I went to a 7 pm beginner class. I paid for the class and started dancing only to find out that the staff put me in a more advance class. They did not bother to ask me at the beginning how much experience I had. Turned out that night I was the only beginner so instead offering me to have a separate class, they asked me to leave. What a waist of time! Such a poor management of school. So unprofessional! Don't waist your time and money going there. Please find another school. read more

As far as the Salsa goes, this studio is fantastic. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable, and they can and do work with anyone at any skill level, even if you're starting from zero. The structure is very good too, because there's a specific set of patterns to learn for each level, and the instructors practice those specific patterns at each level. Beginners I seems to be the easiest because you run through all of the patterns for that level in almost every session. It changes at higher levels, because there's too many patterns to teach in an hour. When it comes to Bachata, though, I have one minor complaint: it's not structured as well. Sometimes they separate people into Beginners and Intermediate or advanced, but sometimes they mix beginners and intermediate. As a result, there's not a consistency in what you learn from class to class. It tends to change quite often. Further complicating matters is the fact that there's multiple variations of the same moves in Bachata, and depending on the instructor, they may choose a different variation. I guess I can't blame them too much for that one, but since that happens to be inconsistent, it makes it harder to master the moves. The instruction itself is spot on. They're great at teaching you the moves in class. The problem is that the moves change sometimes if they mix the classes, or if they do a variation of a move that's different from another class. They're a fantastic dance studio overall, and I still recommend them for both Salsa and Bachata. I just wished that the latter course was a little more consistent. read more

My boyfriend and I just started back up at Salsa Heat again. We fell off the bandwagon last year but we are ready to jump back into it! Of course, we are starting at beginners and the instructor is pretty awesome. He'll definitely make you laugh while you dance! The location I visited was in Maitland (civic center). I have not been to any other locations for dance lessons, so things might be different elsewhere. So I reserve the right to change my review. I had wanted to learn Salsa for quite a while and when I found out about the dance classes near my home I decided to sign up. The were inexpensive and the times were convenient. The mix of the classes were good. They had a system of matching up girls and guys but if they were short they would get a stand-in to pair up with the odd person out. So you never were left standing doing nothing. You always danced. The paces of the lessons were quick and they really didn't fool around too much. Yes they kept the lessons light. The instructors were always joking around and made you feel at ease. However this is where my fondness for the classes ended. I took four weeks of the classes and then quit because the instructor I had only wanted to pick up beautiful women. There was this one woman I was paired up with in the beginners group and the instructor kept cutting in and working with her. He moved me to another student which he had been working with and stayed with the young beautiful woman. This happened the first visit and I blew it off. While I noticed his actions for what they were, I didn't want to let one session as being a defining moment for the entire class. However this routine continued with each visit and with different girls. The older women, while treated friendly, where shunned as this one instructor was all about the hot women. Each week, when a girl arrived who was attractive, it was all he could do to squeeze in and work directly with them. The other instructor wasn't so much about the women. I definitely noticed a difference between their level of personality. One was very professional and the other was just all about getting the women. If it weren't for this one instructor I'd give four stars. I wanted to give one star but I think it is unfair to the owners even though they can't be completely ignorant of this situation. read more

Salsa Heat is a local Latin dance studio in the Orlando area. They have six locations where they teach lessons in addition to two locations where they hold dance socials. I take classes in Maitland and have attended several socials at their East Colonial location. I took a Salsa and Latin dance class at UCF while I was a student and really enjoyed it, so when I saw a Groupon for Salsa Heat I bought it immediately. The Groupon they run is 10 classes for $39 by the way, which makes trying it fun and relatively inexpensive. One class is $10 normally. Anyways, I enjoy taking lessons with them. The instructors in Maitland are all good and you will find your favorite, just like anywhere else, but I haven't taken a lesson yet where I couldn't figure out anything. The lessons are organized into different levels and you progress through the levels as you improve and learn the steps. If you pick up on dancing and rhythm well you can easily make it through Beginner 1 and 2 within the ten week mark, which you'll want to do because it gets much more fun in Intermediate 1. Overall there are five levels, Beginner 1 and 2, Intermediate 1 and 2, and Advanced. They also teach Bachata (check the website), which is normally divided into two levels. The socials are also very fun to try, though I recommend going if you're somewhat confident you can follow steps. I started going to socials once I got to Intermediate 1, and while I have my off nights, I've learned a lot from dancing with people of all levels. It's easier being female since I just need to follow the male's lead, but I think it's good practice for everyone. At the socials they play a mix of salsa, bachata, merengue, and cha cha. Depending on when you go, the socials can be pretty cheap ($5 on Friday or free if you take a class beforehand) and are a good way to improve your skills. You don't have to be taking lessons to go to the socials either. Overall I'm enjoying my time at Salsa Heat. I have fun, goof off, and haven't yet been made fun of too much when I elbow people in the face... yes, it happens. read more

I grew up dancing salsa from parties and learning from family members but never had anybody break down the basics like they did. You can learn a whole lot from rewinding and relearning. Salsa heat can direct you through the proper technique and instruction. The whole class starts off by doing the basic step then progressing to making turns which they call "exhibe" here. Everyone that attends class will dance with each other since you rotate and switch partners. This class lasts about an hour and halfway through they will put on music which heat things up because you do your moves and combine it with rhythm. The instructor Ivan makes class very fun and at the same time makes sure nobody loses their focus. I plan on coming back here because they can evaluate your dancing skills and move you up to intermediate or advance. This place speaks progression in volumes. Or perhaps you are looking for a bachata class? Yes they have this here too, every 3rd and 4th Saturday of the month they have a $15 bachata workshop. They also have Salsa Heat socials where students can meet up 3 times a month to practice and party. Either 1 class for $10 or 10 classes for $69, no contracts needed. Better than Match dot com! Lol! All I can say, it is very easy and fun to learn method. Even people with two left legs can learn how to dance comparing with other dancing schools. Social wise is a place were diversity people finally get along! It's all about dancing! Although, at least I know 4 couples that got engaged from this place. I was visiting family in Central Florida and was looking for a place to practice my dance steps. Thanks to the great reviews on Yelp, I decided upon Salsa Heat. I took the Tuesday Night Cha Cha Class with David Ortiz. Very good instructor, step by step instruction and evaluation. Geared the class to the experience of the students that attended the class, gave individual attention to all students. Very good experience and we came away with a very creative dance pattern. I also attended the Wednesday night Social prior to Thanksgiving Day. I was very satisfied with the great crowd, everyone was very friendly and there to dance. Overall very positive experience I highly recommend this school to anyone that is a novice or seasoned dancer. They are all about the dance. I decided on a whim to come out and take a dance lesson! I enjoyed myself! The location was easy to find, I had no problem locating it. If using apple maps, Siri will tell you to turn down Murdock but won't tell you to make the right turn into the strip mall. It was $12 for a Bachata lesson which was affordable and the lady at the entrance was courteous and friendly. Austin was my teacher and he was helpful and thorough! He allowed for questions, he explained moves and broke down turns. By the end of the class we all were pretty happy with our lesson! The atmosphere was welcoming and everyone was there to dance and have a good time. If you've paid for a lesson the social portion is free which was pretty cool! This ballroom is a gorgeous looking studio. It has nice floors nice lighting and good bathrooms. It doesn't look as big as it is on the inside from the outside. They do have a shoe store inside and an area for a DJ booth where they sell beer and wine during the socials. Not only do they have multiple colored LED lights they have a chandelier and several high efficiency fans. This makes the studio freezing cold so I always bring a jacket. read more

This review is for the Zumba classes offered here. Leslie is a beast! She is so amazing. The songs she has, which are a lot, are awesome and the steps are designed to give you an incredible workout within an hour. I've taken a few girlfriends to her classes and they all agree that her classes are the best they have been to. I am so, so happy I found her. The studio is beautiful. They expanded and renovated it and it's huge. Beautiful ceilings, wood floor, mirrors everywhere. It is super comfortable for these type of classes. They obviously focus on ballroom classes (salsa, bachata, styling) but I haven't tried them in a while. I took salsa classes here about 6 years ago and they were great and I'm sure they still are. I've seen the bachata classes start as I finish my zumba and they look fun too. Zumba classes are $10 and if you buy a card you get 10 classes for $70 ($7 per class). Leslie teaches every Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm and every Saturday mornings at 8-9:30 am. Saturday classes are awesome. She does 45-60 minutes Zumba and the rest of the time is bootcamp where we work legs, butt and abs. She also does morning classes during the week. Check their website for the schedule. Guys, Salsa Heat is THE REAL DEAL!! Mike is the owner and does an awesome job getting people dancing quickly, even if you have never danced, seen or even heard Salsa music (me). Levels are broken up into Beginning I, Beginner II, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, Advanced I, and Advanced II. Each level has set moves that are taught during class, and as soon as you are ready for the next level you test into it, and there you go.
