The sandwich is massive, messy, and very popular in Chile. We went with the steak version and added cheese, tomato, avocado, and green beans. The mayo seems to be the signature sauce, but overall, the sandwich tasted very bland. The meat was also quite chewy, making it difficult to finish most of it. Maybe the pork might have been the better choice. It was still interesting to try, but tbh, it felt a bit overhyped here at Mardoqueo. At least the mango drink was refreshing.

First of all, this is not a 3.5 star restaurant. I had no wifi so I couldn't see all the great…read morereviews of the other location, but this is absolutely just as good. I wandered in here because I wanted to eat South American cuisine once in Chile. A bit of a wait, maybe because I'm not a local and don't know how to communicate, but I started with a fresh mango juice and it tasted like absolute heaven. Seriously, when I die, if you offer me Heaven or Mango Juice I may have to think about it. Good start. Next came bread with two dips. The piquante dip wasn't all that spicy but had a noticeable tang. Delicious and devoured. Order took about 25-30 minutes to arrive at the absolute peak of lunch: 2 PM. Like Argentina, Chile is nightshifted! It was packed but they kept things moving. I had a pollo with mushrooms dish. Delicious, nice portion, nice price. This place is NOT $$$. It's $$ - I spent $US20 total ($17.000 CL) and could easily have done it for $15. Also, it's not just sandwiches. Keep looking at the menu and find their dishes. That's what you really want here. The other table had extraordinary looking salmon on yellow rice. If I liked salmon at all I would have jumped for that right away. Too bad I only had 3 days in Chile and I didn't know about this on day 1 or I could have visited it more than once!

Friendly staff. Tasty food. Pricey for the type of place -more of a "picá" than a restaurant- but…read moreit is in a touristic area. The pisco sour could be sweeter and the lomo saltado less salty, but overall it was a nice surprise. I'd come back to try the sandwiches.
