We had a group of 14 guys participate in the Cypress Forest kayak tour on May 15th. It was my first…read moretime in a kayak, and I had a great time. I had an easier time paddling down the river than I thought. At 73, I decided to do a tandem kayak because I wasn't sure I could paddle by myself, but next time I think I'll choose a single. The scenery going down the Waccamaw River was amazing. We saw birds (an Osprey nest was the highlight), a few alligators on the bank, turtles, thousand-year-old moss-covered Cypress trees, water lilies that had begun to bloom, and all kinds of greenery. The two guides we had were very helpful and knowledgeable, and even shared a few stories about the river's history. The camaraderie with the guys made the trip a great experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in a fun time on the beautiful Waccamaw.
