Honestly - look elsewhere for your children. I have been here several times with my children and somehow always feel like I am inconveniencing them by being there. Their waiting room is terrible, zero toys, a few plastic chairs - it is not a good environment for children to start out when they are nervous for the dentist. I went recently with my 2.5 and decided it would be my last visit with them - During the exam I was told by one of the female dentists (who was very rushy and unfriendly) that my 2.5 year old son had 4 cavities total, two of which required pulpectomys and that he should be fully sedated for his fillings. I was extremely uncomfortable with putting my young kid to sleep so I decided to consult a different dental office. The other dentist was patient and kind, he looked throughly at my son's teeth. He informed me that he only has 2 cavities and that they could be taken care of easily (no pulpectomy needed). I asked him if he needed to be sedated and he said, "absolutely not." He said he would never want to sedate a young kid for only 2 cavities, when they can easily be done in the office with laughing gas. I honestly feel like the dentist here was just trying to make extra money off me. Why sedate my child and do a full pulpectomy when he didn't need it?!? Do you research before you come here because you may be paying way more for unnecessary treatments. read more

Both my kids had their first dentist appointments here recently, and it went well! My son will be 2 next month, he has stranger danger but the whole appointment was less than 10 mins. He cried most of the time, but the dentist and assistant were so patient and kind. My daughter just turned 3 and she had a good first experience. They took her x-rays, which I was not prepared for so I didn't prep her for it, but she did so well! The assistant was kind and the dentist was great. Honestly, they just cleaned and counted my kids teeth and told me everything looked good. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because my 3 year old had to wait about 20 mins before she was taken back (we got their on time), so she was getting really antsy and everyone who got their after us was being called back so she kept saying "my turn my turn." read more

My son has been going to Santee Childrens Dentistry since he first got his teeth. The staff is so friendly and patient. The office is clean and comfortable and Dr Hope is awesome. They have televisions on the ceiling so the kiddos can watch a movie while lying on the exam chair. I would definitely recommend this office. read more

As everyone here says, Dr Hope was fantastic. At first I was so scared of bringing my baby there for his first dental appointment but Dr Hope and her team were so friendly and awesome. He kept crying most of the time but they were so patient and did the best to calm him down by showing him toys. Today she actually told me she didnt have time for me after refusing to see my son when he coughed ONCE while waiting for his appointment. I would like to say my kids have been going to see Dr. Hope since the first day Santee Children's Dentistry has been open. So probably 10 to 11 years now. I could not imagine taking them anywhere else. Dr. Hope and her staff have always been friendly. I like how they research your insurance so there are no surprises. The dentist's are always upfront on what they can and cannot do. When we had to be referred out it has always been to good office. All our kids went through braces and there have been times when Dr Hope had spotted some things that needed to be changed in there ortho plan and she was spot on and saved us a lot of time and money on the corrections. My kids love the open atmosphere and that they can play video games and the youngest always gets a kick out being asked to pick a show to watch. Love this office and would highly recommend anyone. read more

I was disturbed with this dental clinic. We switched. I was told my son had 4 cavities and my daughter had 1 cavity which was shocking to me as we take good care of our kids teeth. They did NOT show me the cavities on the radiographs. (I have come to find out this is a no-no in the dental community, makes sense) They tried to schedule my children for $1000+ of dental work, using general anesthesia on my 3 year old for her ONE small cavity, and nitrous oxide on my 4 year old for his "4 cavities". I had the radiographs sent to the dentist my mother in law works for who looked them over as a favor and informed me that she could only see 1 cavity for my son and the rest of the photos were too poor quality to even see anything definitively. Dr. Hope was very pleasant, but my overall perception is that this office took poor quality photos, made exaggerated diagnoses, and offered only the most "expensive for ME, convenient for THEM" procedure options. I switched to Dr. Ana Cluff in Lakeside about 6-9 months later. New radiographs were taken, they showed me every photo, and I was able to make appointments for the following week to handle every issue for less than 1/3 of the cost quoted to me by Santee Childrens Dentistry. Much happier with Dr. Ana Cluff and associates. Deeply disturbed and indignant towards Santee Children's Dentistry. read more

The care and compassion Dr. Hope provides at the dentist is incredible. She is so understanding to my oldest son, who is on the spectrum, always offering a walk to help calm him down when he gets too overwhelmed. My oldest smashed his mouth on the bathtub and messed up his teeth, somehow she was able to get him to let her file his teeth, our pediatrician has a hard time even checking his ear. My youngest son too, she is just wonderful with kids! She is the very best! So grateful we found her! There's not one thing wrong with this place, all of their employees are so helpful and always smiling. We have gone to this dental office for several years and then today we had to cancel our appointment after we had already showed up because I had a second child with me. If siblings are not allowed at the office due to COVID restrictions then it would help if the appointment reminder had this noted. My husband is active duty military and away and I do not have another option but to bring my youngest to his brother's appointment. I was very disappointed when we were told at the door that my 9 year old would need to go in unaccompanied to his appointment because of that. I was told that I could wait in my car with my other child and that a stranger would walk my other child into the office for his appointment and then bring him out after it was finished. Absolutely not! That is unacceptable and I can't imagine any parent being comfortable with that. We will need to find another dental office. read more

Favorite children's dental office! I have a very strong Willed sassy two year old daughter! She doesn't do well with strangers especially when they approach her. Her first dental visit went way better than i thought it would. By the end of her appointment she was trying to give everyone kisses goodbye even dr. Andrew! The office is super cute and kid friendly my daughter loved pointing at all the fish and sea animals on the Back wall! The assistant was extremely patient with her and let my daughter warm up and the same with dr Andrew. He was super fun and silly with her and she was not scared at all! Very disappointed with this office. Came in for my daughters dental visit. Pam made us wait outside for 10 to 15 minutes when only one person was in the lobby. Mind you it was overly hot that day. Today we came in and as we're checking in a parent and kids walk in she tells them to go outside and brings them in almost immediately after. Not too happy with the experience here she provided. Pam is especially helpful with insurance questions, scheduling, etc. she went above and beyond in helping me get through the confusion of medi-cal issues ... so very, very helpful and knowledgeable. Overall they have a very nice staff, my only concern is they don't allow parents to go In with your child during treatment, literally makes no sense, the lady said it was "Policy" so when I asked her to show me the "policy" on paper she had no response, like many parents I'm not comfortable with my kid being treated without me there, I would like to think that at a children's dentist this would be allowed but unfortunately that's not the case here. Today was my sons first appointment at this practice. We walked in, and the waiting room seemed to be very kid friendly. However my first interaction with the staff was not amazing. I was checked in by a young girl at the front desk. To say she was unfriendly would be an understatement. Her people skills and professional manner were definitely lacking. The front office staff sets the tone for the office and new patients make their first impression off the quality of customer service and hospitality received. Maybe put a more lighthearted less aggressive staff member in the greeter/ initial check in position. After being called back the dental assistant began my sons cleaning, which lasted all of 7 minutes. Yes, I did time the cleaning. The cleaning itself was not thorough. What was even more off putting to me was the 16 year old boy in the adjacent chair getting his teeth cleaned just as quickly. When a child is over the age of 9, and in some cases even younger, they should really seen for hygiene care by a dental hygienist. Dental Assistants are not legally allowed to scale with dental instruments, and completely remove all hard and soft deposits both above and below the gum tissue. This office felt a bit like riding on a Conveyor belt. The dentist who examined my son, did a decent exam, but seemed a little less then 100 percent genuine. Being a dental professional myself, I was underwhelmed with the quality of care. read more

I have been taking my 9 years old son and 6 year old daughter there for the past 3 years and every time we go is a great experience. All staff is extremely friendly and the receptionist they had before WAS rude and would call grown women sweetie (so unprofessional) so I'm glad she has been replaced. They are always on time with seeing their patients and I NEVER wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room EVER! My kids love the video games in the back, wearing the sun glasses and watching the TV as they get their teeth cleaned. I would recommend this place to everyone. Beware! These reviews are fake. I had been coming here for years. Overall I absolutely love Dr Hope! However they HAVE to start properly training their staff. I wrote an honest, polite four star review and when I went in to my children's appointment, I was asked to change it to a five star. I can't stand dishonesty. They are a bit pushy and aggressive with procedures and lack patience with their patients. Again I'm not talking about DR Hope (who is outstanding) I am talking about her staff. My daughter has been going to Santee Children's Dentistry since she was 10 months old. I wanted to make sure I was doing everything as a parent, including that first visit before the first birthday. My daughter always looks forward to her visits with Dr. Hope and Dr. Cheryl. Everyone is always so happy, good at explaining what is happening, and answering questions from me and my daughter. I see how they interact with everyone from preschool age to teenagers and parents, and they are always able to relate, which makes everyone feel more at ease. Overall I think we have had quality work done here. My kids teeth look really good. The Dr. is pleasant and most of the time the lady at the front desk is too. From what I have seen and experienced they sedate just about every kid who needs work, perhaps they need it, I'm no expert but when I have to pay out of pocket an extra $80+ every time a kid needs a filling, it kind of hurts the pocket book. They also tend to overbook so I'm usually there for a couple hours. Payment wise they won't work with you so be prepared to pay for service before you walk out the door. read more

This plsce is amazing and I cannot say it enough!!!! My 8 year old daughter and I just left this morning , she had 2 teeth pulled due to crowding . Maria was fantastic with my daughter from start to finish . She spoke to my daughter the whole time and made her feel more at ease . My son had a unique dental situation and referred here. He had work done over several appointments. I was so unhappy with my overall experience here. -The front desk person was always very rude and arrogant. (I believe she has since been replaced) - I HATE their policy that parents can't go back with their children, but at the time I had no other choice. (insurance reasons) If you are thinking of using this dentist please know that is their policy and if you are as uncomfortable with that as I am find another pediatric dentist. -They said my son had done so well for his first two appointments he would not need the oral sedation for his final visit. When we arrived for his last appointment they said that even though Dr. Hope said he wouldn't need it they decided he had to have it. I honestly feel like they were just trying to get the $ for out of pocket expenses. -They were planning on installing space maintainers for the teeth that were removed. His teeth were removed because adult eye teeth were coming in under his baby molars. I got TWO second opinions and had primary braces but on my sons teeth within a month of our final visit. If I had gone with the space maintainers my son would have had serious problems with his adult teeth coming in down the line. read more

I brought my son here after a failed attempt of conscious sedation at a different location. This other office told me that since conscious sedation was unsuccessful, in order for my son to get proper dental care due to his fear of the dentist, it would require him to be put under full IV sedation. The only place they would recommended to do an IV sedation for a child his age was two and a half hours away. I could not wrap my head around driving two and a half hours for a dental procedure so after much research I found the Santee childrens dentist and decided to make an appointment. The first appointment went great but the true trust was going to be the next appointment when they would get started on the work. The Dr. And staff recommended to start off by trying conscious sedation again and told me that they weren't sure what kind of medication he received at the other office, and that he could react differently to this medication so trying it again wouldn't be a bad idea. I was hesitant but Pam assured me that things could go differently this time and boy was she right! m My son who is usually terrified of the dentist completed a tooth extraction, sealants, and 3 silver caps (in 2( 2) hour appointments) with no problems. Doctor Hope is a child whisperer and the rest of the staff make the children feel comfortable. Yes I was worried that this office doesn't allow parents to come in with your child during the procedure but I feel like it helped my son be less anxious and made less of a big deal about it. Pam did let me peek in the room during the procedure to make sure everything was okay which as a worry wart I greatly appreciated. My son is a lot less afraid of the dentist because of every one here. Thank you so very much! read more

When I was looking for a dentist for my kids, we went through multiple dentist offices. Either bad service/reception or bad communication from the dentist was becoming the norm. When I found Dr. Andrew at Santee Children's Dentistry I was very pleased with his communication. He was open and honest and explained things in a way that was easily understood by myself as well as my 5 year old son. At my son's first scheduled appointment, my son was very ill and yet we still came in to reschedule. Dr Andrew came out to check his temperature and provide me some general I formation for his fever. His appointment was rescheduled without penalty fees. It's not just the dentist that makes up a good office, it's the office staff too. I find this office to be exceptionally friendly as well as professional. They go out of their way to provide comfort to the kids as well as patience and understanding. read more

This is the best dentistry office in Santee the front office staff are very professional and are always extremely helpful. If you need help anyone of them is always ready to assist, i spoke to Reiko and she is the best, very very knowledgeable and will help you in any situation you have.
