It's small, and not fancy at all, but they are good at finding you the book you want, even if it means requesting it from another library.

The library is located inside a shopping mall so it is hard to find. It is also rather old and the building could be in better shape.

Coming here unlocked so many childhood memories of visiting here with my grandparents. My…read moregrandparents lived a few blocks away and we would walk to the library at least twice a week so I could borrow the library maximum because I was such a little bookworm. It's a small neighborhood branch of the library, if you're looking for something larger go to the one in downtown La Mesa. This location is perfect for kids though. They've got events for kids and a nice little kids room. It's pretty much how I remember it being all those years ago. If you're like me you probably don't browse as much as you go online and order what you want for pickup, so this location fills that need well. The holds shelves are located right next to the door and the self checkout kiosks are across from there, so if you're antisocial you can get everything and leave without interacting with a human. I went to the desk because I had a question and the employee was super friendly and helpful. I prefer this location because it's really convenient as far as parking and running in goes. They have two hour street parking in front and a small parking lot in the back, no steps if you've got any mobility problems or a stroller. Hours are posted online, but they are closed Sunday and Monday, something to keep in mind. The book depository is in front to the right of the entrance as well as the drop off ballot box that we use every election.

If they don't have what you're looking for just request it either on the computer or by asking a librarian for help and they will have it sent over from another branch. I'm not crazy about the self checkout system because I prefer to deal with a human being but since all libraries are going to this system there's not much we can do about it. The times when I have needed help the librarians have been cheerful and friendly about helping me find what I'm looking for. The only bad experience I ever remember having was one time when I came in while there was a Zumba class going on in a side conference room. It was extremely difficult to concentrate with all the shouting and stomping going on. Being old school, I felt the library should be a quiet place. But overall I've been extremely happy with this location.

Almost 50 years later it is the same tiny, old, smelly library. Very disappointing.

SDSU UNIVERSITY LIBRARY @ SDSU…read more Parking can be available for purchase for the day pass on parking lots in P3 and P4. As an SDSU student, the Love Library is one of the best places on campus to study, get work done, and collaborate with team members. I really enjoy coming here because it's spacious, organized, and has three different floors that cater to different study needs. The first floor is open 24/7, which is perfect for students who like to work late or pull all-nighters. The second floor offers tech support, you can borrow chargers, check out laptops, and find tons of books and study rooms. My favorite, though, is the third floor. It's a bit tucked away and quieter, with plenty of tables and a calm atmosphere that makes it easy to focus. As an SDSU student, I really appreciate having a place like this on campus, especially during exam season. It's peaceful yet lively, and perfect for studying, doing homework, or just spending time on your laptop. I highly recommend checking out the SDSU Library if you're looking for a productive study spot!

At face value, the outside is WAY prettier than the inside. Once you go inside to the main areas it gives dungeon vibes. There's barely any natural light and the lighting in there is dull with a color scheme of grays. It's not very pretty. This area could definitely be renovated. However, the areas which are nicer with brighter lighting seem very new. The staff are also very friendly at the reception desk and they have chargers, white board markers, and calculators you can rent for free if you're a student! I think SDSU did a good job in structuring the school library but there's nothing special that stands out. I would love to see it renovated! Or at least have more natural light - most of the time in there I can't tell what time of day it is because it's underground.
