I am visiting California and I am blown away by how many family friendly events there are to do in the LA area. Just amazing. I think these drive through events are great. The entire family can hop in a car wearing their jammies, grab some snacks, have Christmas music playing and just enjoy each others company! We decided to go here very last minute but got tickets right away, late Saturday night. We actually did not hit any lines or traffic getting there, it was great! Got right in and enjoyed the show! There were quite a lot of stuff to see, it did not dissapoint.

This place put a good amount of effort into the light structures! There was a lot to look at and my kid was having tons of fun. We came 2 years ago during COVID, so we were excited to be able to walk around this time. If it wasn't so cold we would've stayed longer!!

Christmas light show from 12/1/2022 to 01/01/2023. 3-story ornaments. Dinner, snacks & drinks (libations & famous hot chocolates & coffee....much more. They had an area where you could make your own s'mores. A 4-story rocking horse Santa. The cutest thing.....race car reindeer stables. An 11-story Christmas tree. Pictures with Santa. A 35ft teddy bear of lights. 3 amazing light tunnels that the trams drive you through. Also a hayride experience was available. It's an experience to spend time with family or couples.

This place is so cute! There's so many beautiful display and it's such a hidden gem. Not busy at all during the weekday that we came. I loved our experience here.

We attended this event last night, on a whim. We arrived around 5:25pm for a 5:45pm reservation. For a first year attempt, it was okay. Our boys were happy to do something that brought them a bit of normalcy, so that made the trip worth it. If you're a local, bored, and have nothing to do, it's something to do at a reasonable price (compared to other similar events,) and that keeps you in your own car, socially distanced. Bu,t set your expectations low. If you're driving more than 30 minutes to get there, it's not worth the trip, nor expense. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation time and by the time we were scanned in and merged into the actual event line, it was exactly our entry time. However, by the time we finished the event and left, which was around 6:30pm, the line was HUGE, at least half a mile onto the freeway off ramp. So take lots of patience with you. Use the restrooms before the event and take snacks because, again, the lines are long and move very slow to get in, and to go through the loop. Because of the lines, we avoided buying from the event's concessions stand. There's really not that many light arrangements to see. It's pretty much just basic string lights around the entire speedway with clustered fixtures/arrangements. The highlight for us was towards the beginning (tunnel,) and the end (Reindeer Stables.) When you scan in, they give you a card for a scavenger hunt. We didn't do it, it's too dark to be doing that while trying to drive and actually look at the arrangements, while also rearing children. Because it's a loop, at one point it becomes redundant because you're stuck seeing the same arrangement twice. Because reservation slots are In 15 minute intervals, you're stuck in a gridlock of cars, so if you have an emergency and have to exit, there is no way out. 15 minutes between reservations is way too short of a time frame. The slots need to be at minimum in 30 minute intervals. Maybe next year they'll add more/better light arrangements, maybe have snack stockings, available to purchase online as add-ons, and made available for pick up at the entrance when scanning in. Also, maybe make it interactive. Possibly make the scavenger hunt card, digital so it can be done via mobile. Just small suggestions that could improve the event.

This is the third holiday drive thru experience I had the opportunity to attend and could have been better in my opinion. Went on Christmas Day, and it took about 30 minutes to get to the main entrance due to the traffic. They offer 3-D glasses for about $3 to "enhance" your experience, but we declined. They also gave us cards for a scavenger hunt. Some of the displays were cute, but I think that the available space could've been utilized for more lights, photo ops. Speakers were posted throughout the route, but if you had your radio on the station they say to set it to, you would hear an echo/delay playing the same music. I noticed that kids were standing or hanging out of vehicle windows and sunroofs, which was definitely a no-no, as we heard PA announcements saying not to do so. However, employees posted along the route did not enforce this as we saw the same children continue to literally hang out of their cars. One of my favorite parts was the "stable" area where "snow" fell, but unfortunately there wasn't much snow and we quickly drove by & almost missed it. Concession stand and restroom were at the end of the drive thru.

Currently 10:40 for a 9:00pm slot

ALL THE LIGHTS WERE RED! SO DUMB. Oh wait, we haven't gotten in because they oversold the event and we've been waiting almost 2 hours. Anyway here's my view EDIT: once we got in it was quite pleasant. Pictures added.

This is such a fun event to brighten up this unusual holiday season! We got tickets for 5:30pm on a Saturday evening and we had no problem entering the venue. When you check in, they tell you to tune into an AM radio station that plays fun holiday music. There is also a scavenger hunt that you can do while driving through the speedway which my four year old niece really liked. Overall this was a fun and unique event that was fun for the entire family! Tickets are $59 per car and we probably were there for about an hour. If you go, I would recommend trying to get tickets for the earlier entry times since there was a lot of traffic on the streets when we left.

Christmas 2022 it's a park and walk around experience. It was a great time. I have to say that the helpfulness and politeness of every single staff member I interacted with really jumped out at me, great job! Kids loved the light displays, s'mores and snow sledding.

We went on Wednesday night 12/16. We did not have any trouble getting to the site, and it was a very brief wait to get inside. Our tickets were for 6 PM. We all enjoyed it, especially my four-year-old granddaughter. Santa Claus said "hello" to her at the end, and she was very excited. The tunnel of light was amazing! It was well done and worth the money. The first reviews posted here scared me, because of the long waits people reported to get to the venue. I definitely think weekdays are better, and it looks like the venue has made an effort to limit ticket sales. It was a lot of fun to drive on the speedway! There is a radio station you tune to when you get to hear Christmas songs as you go around. You get to go around twice. It took about 35 minutes to go through.

Went there after google searched for Christmas lighting. Didn't do much more research and popped in, paid ticket at the entrance at 6pm, no waiting at all luckily for us this year. Went through the whole drive thru experience in about 45 mins. Very nice lighting and good experience overall for us as a first timer. $75 worths the price in my opinion considering we didn't have to wait in line as others said.

The only real drawback this time was traffic. It took nearly an hour just to exit. Although 2 exit lanes were added, the traffic light created a major bottleneck. Entry was also slower because several access points were closed. I understand how busy it gets, but the traffic flow definitely needs improvement. Overall, I still love this place and can't wait to come back next year!

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this event. Some of the staff wears a mask. All…read morevisitors are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. There are some hand sanitizers available for visitors to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between visitors. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This event currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was here several months ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their event UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty massive. When you enter the grounds, turn left. There you will be directed to pay for parking ($15 for regular cars - general parking, $30 for VIP parking, $23 for RVs and limos, and $38 for buses) and where to park. As mentioned by my excellent buddy, Justin, parking for handicapped individuals freaking suck. Whoever organized this event sucks. Handicapped parking is in lot 3, which is hella far away from the event. You would think it would be much closer to the event, but noooooo. Some idiot organized it to be like this. Why?!?! Please make the entrance closer to the handicapped parking lot in the future. That would make a lot of sense. They take cash and credit cards. Event: The festival offers immersive 14 - 17 century Elizabethan-era entertainment, jousting tournaments, artisanal shopping, and medieval food like turkey legs. The event itself was very fun and entertaining. I had a great time with my close friend. I highly encourage anyone who attends to dress up. If you don't, you will stick out like a very sore and ugly thumb. If you do dress up, costume weapons must be sheathed and peace tied. Also, wear comfy shoes. There is soooooo much walking. It's also hella dusty at this event, which is lowkey on point with ye - old England. To add on, when Justin and I attended this event in mid May, the weather was soooo on point because it was gloomy and overcast. This is exactly how I imagined old timey England during the renaissance. You can absolutely bring food and drinks into the event, but they cannot be picnic food, food that requires heating or refrigeration, alcohol, anything in glass containers, and coolers. You can bring water, but it cannot be opened yet. Or you can bring an empty reusable water bottle for it to be filled up at the event. There are plenty of bathrooms (porta potties and hand washing stations) at this event. Note: While at the event, we didn't see any refillable water bottle stations. Where were they hiding? Food: My bestie and I got the tri tip sandwich and french fries. Honestly, coming into this event, I already knew that the food was gonna be mid. Lmao I had low expectations for the food because I wasn't really there for the food. Plus, I guess this was also kinda lowkey on point with the renaissance era in England because food in that time period was also mid. Lol I was primarily there for the medieval vibes and jousting, which delivered in spades. I would honestly go every year just for the medieval vibes and jousting. Screw the food there. Anyways, the tri tip sandwich was overly priced with a meager amount of meat in the sandwich in a sad ass hot dog bun. It was more of a sad- wich. This is why I removed one star. Flavor wise, it was okay. My friend knows that I'm not the biggest fan of anything BBQ, but I'll eat it anyways. The fries that we got were plentiful for the price point and it was very crunchy. I was disappointed when it wasn't really salted, which made it taste bland TBH. I should also note that the tri tip sandwich and fries were cold by the time we sat down and ate them because we spent like 10 - 15 minutes walking around and finding a place to eat. Don't be like us. Eat your food while it's hot. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. Still, cash is king at this event. Many vendors only take cash, so bring at least $100 per person.

The people…read morewho were out there on the track were all so much fun to watch groove together, and the intricate designs of their costumes were really impressive. Also, you should know before you go that it can be challenging to find the correct entrance to the event depending on what exit you take off the freeway. But the directions on the website for Electric Mile are actually really helpful if you follow them thoroughly. The drive went by so quickly -- one minute you're pulling in, and the next you're sailing through the final tunnel of lights. It was 45 minutes long, which is definitely a decent amount of time but it just felt short because you were distracted by all the action! If you can, I would recommend buying a VIP ticket just because it let us skip the line, and we definitely would have missed our time slot (it was a busy Friday night) since we weren't expecting the line to be so long! We also got a fun goodie box with fun items like diffraction glasses and candy. Also, I appreciate an impressive DJ, but I went to this event with my friends who are total Insomniac junkies -- seriously, they've attended every EDC, countdown, Escape -- any Insomniac event they can get tickets to -- and they LOVED this drive-thru, which proves that it's a worthwhile experience ;) I think it was definitely worth it for the price if you have 4-5 people in the car with you to split the cost. It's not something that takes up your entire evening, but it is a fun way to spend a night with some good music and a great light show performance. If I HAD to pick a favorite land, I'd have to say Beyond Wonderland or Escape, just because I really loved the lights and detail in the decorations in these lands. But it was fun to end the drive-thru experience by "driving through EDC," because it felt fitting.

With the pandemic still very much so at large, we are very limited to these types of experiences, but Insomniac was able to pull this off, while still keeping everyone safe. The only downfall (and quite big IMO), was the wait time to enter the first weekend. We waited over an hour to enter GA, and eventually was asked if we wanted to upgrade to VIP for $50. I wish we were asked this in the beginning, but I wonder if they've been able to fix this problem since then. Also, if anyone has attended this and knows the link to the official playlist on Spotify, please send it my way! I'd love to bookmark this entire playlist to listen in my car.

It seemed pretty crowded compared to the last time I came, but they also had a ton of new vendors. Everything felt more spread out, so even with all the people, the lines weren't super crazy. I ended up coming back again on Sunday for the last day. It was crowded too, but nothing unbearable. We waited in line for some squid and a few other things, and I think the longest we waited was around 20 minutes, which honestly isn't too bad for the 626 Night Market. It is peak summer where you are able to be out in a comfortable summer night and browse what feels like any and all food there is. I thought this year was especially great with the DJ and the location. Previous years they always had the DJ tucked away all the way in the back but having them front and center of the event was a great call. Always have that awesome music in the background added a lot to my experience. Some of the standout thing we got was Japadog which is a wagyu hotdog that will make you rethink what a hotdog can be. We got a truffle katsu sandwich there too which is as fabulous as it sounds. Also had salt bread which was especially exciting considering I have been craving them ever since visiting Korea. Lastly, I got a fried Reece's cup which I have been in the hunt for some time since they seem pretty rare, so of course that hit the spot. What else can I add to what Grace C. has already extolled about this event? :)…read more It was my first time to A Taste of Old Town Monrovia, after hearing my boyfriend rave about all the deliciousness of years past. Thus, expectations duly raised, I went into the event with high hopes and an empty stomach. I was not disappointed. There were fifty booths this year, representing many a palate. From hotel cuisine to soul food, there was a stand to satisfy one's appetite. Did I go back to Paradis Gelato's stands twice? Maaaaaybe. ;) Thanks to this event, I had the opportunity to sample foods from many different eateries. Jake's Roadhouse, Sena on Myrtle, and Bottega della Sera were particular faves for me. There are many other places that I look forward to visiting. The live music was wonderful, everyone was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was just lovely. I really like the palette-like trays they gave us (there's a slot for holding your wine glass, too!). The Kiwanis Club did an excellent job organizing this wonderful event! Totally brings me back to my days of volunteering with Key Club in high school :) Thank you again! I look forward to returning next year.

I've been meaning to…read moreattend one of these Taste of Old Town Monrovia events ever since I moved to Monrovia 3 years ago, but something always came up during my October weekends and I would have to skip out. Finally, this year, everything fell into place and at 5 pm on Sunday, with my pre-bought ticket in hand (you save $10 not buying at the door!), I was ready to taste and drink my way through the main street on Monrovia on Myrtle Ave with the over 50+ vendors from Monrovia and the surrounding areas. The entire street of Myrtle is blocked off from Lime to Colorado. Upon check-in (and checking your ID to make sure you're over 21), you're handed a reusable tote bag with a wine glass and reusable food tray (with handy slot to house your wine glass). The tote bag is great in holding coupons and menus and business cards handed out by the various vendors. Some vendors have storefronts right here on Myrtle while others are in nearby cities (like Duarte, Azusa or Pasadena) or can provide catering and private orders! You definitely will not go home hungry! A tip learned from this trip is that it may be worthwhile to do a walk through first to see what's out there and pick what piques your interest. Otherwise you'll be full before you hit the halfway point! Plenty of food and availability to go back for seconds on your favorites! The lines were very reasonable, with the max being maybe 4 people ahead of you in line. The BF and I tried plenty of sweets (cupcakes, bundt cakes, ice cream!), BBQ foods, Mexican food, comfort food, and so much more! Plenty of alcohol flowing here too! I love that everything is included in the ticket price so you don't even have to bring your wallet if you don't plan to bar hop afterwards! Other than the food, there's a live band (Time Bomb) providing some great tunes through out the night, in front of an area set up for dancing to work off the food. A photo booth was nearby as well to capture your picture pre or post food coma. I have to give major props to the Kiwanis Club of Monrovia for such a well run event. Tickets could be purchased online (with a small convenience fee) or at a couple of different Monrovia merchants in person (cash or check only). The day of the event, checking in ran super smooth and the Kiwanians were all over the event -- making sure trash cans weren't overflowing, providing bottled water at their booths, and making sure everyone was having a great time! If I wasn't already a member of another Kiwanis club, this event would motivate me to join their club! And of course, the proceeds of the tickets all go towards benefiting the youth programs they organize in the community. What a win-win situation -- the kids supported by Kiwanis wins and my tummy wins in trying out so much variety of food! Of course, I have to comment that I had no problems finding parking as well. There are plenty of street parking and spots at the various free public parking lots next to Myrtle Avenue. Just turn on one of the side streets one or two blocks before you hit Line or Colorado to avoid the buildup of traffic from the blocked off streets. As I was heading out, stuffed to the brim at 7:30 pm, I saw a sign saving the date for the event next year - October 15, 2017. You can bet it will be on my calendar and it should be on yours too, especially for any first timers!

This park isn't always crowded it's usually pretty empty except for some weekends when they have games. So there's no reason for you to sit in front of a person with your car running being a lookaloo. Do you see my problem? With all these sketchy things that I see going on here you have really other better things to do than to sit in front of me. You should be harassing people who are on foot and on bike scouting the parking lot for an opportunity to steal something else. Or how about when they're harassing someone. Twice I've had an issue here with those people on foot and on bikes trying to steal. Where were you then? Where were you when my phone was stolen out of the front seat of my car? Where were you when the guy on the bike tried to steal my stroller? Where were you when someone tried to solicit me? My point is, if your trying to catch someone committing a crime, go do it. You don't need to be watching me watch a webinar, you're sure not protecting me from anything or anyone. What you can do is try and fix that water fountain that's been on for weeks. I still see the cones around it and tape but the water still running and it hasn't been fixed it's been running all summer. Probably either before then.

I love the thunder fest in Covina. The atmosphere is amazing. It's like your back in the 1940s or…read more50s. They have great food lots of cars, crafts and boots and let's not forget about the bands come and enjoy hanging out.

My wife and I were looking for something to do this weekend. My daughter suggested that we go to…read moreThunderfest with her and her husband, Our son-in-law always looks forward to this event, Since it is only a few miles from our house, Thunderfest would make a nice evening out. This takes place in downtown Covina. The main street (Citrus) and a number of side streets are blocked off. All of the classic cars are lined up along both sides of Citrus. Various vendors are located along the side streets, Beer and food is located in Heritage Park. We passed all the signs that announced preferred parking for $10. We found free parking on a street a few blocks away. The walk over was not too bad. Walking down Citrus you pass by all these amazing cars. It is mindboggling how many are here, My son-in-law has been to many car shows like this in Southern California. He says Thunderfest is the best show he has been to. It is absolutely amazing, There were a lot of people on the street but it did not hinder us from walking along and looking at the cars. Everybody seemed to be enjoying the day. There were no people behaving badly. There were a good number of families with small children here. We walked down one of the side streets and looked at some of the vendor booths. They had a stage set up on one of the streets, A band was playing classic Led Zepplin. It sounded pretty good. We went to Heritage Park and got something to drink. They had a number of vendors selling craft beer, They were also selling snacks and carnival type foods. We were here about three hours. We really enjoyed our time here. There was no admission charge. It only costs you if you buy food, drinks or whatever else is being sold.. This is great event and I will definitely go back.

Everyone was so happy and welcoming. I recommend to get there earliest so you can get a good spot so you can overlook the water The music could have been a little bit louder because it was hard to hear But the live performers were awesome I wish there was more interactive activities. I feel like everyone was just sitting around, waiting to launch their lanterns, but it was still a beautiful experience. I will most definitely go again next year

The best part of the Water Lantern Festival was spending quality time with my wife and…read morestepdaughter. Decorating our lanterns, enjoying the atmosphere, and watching the lanterns on the water together made for a great family memory. That part was awesome. But everything else? Not so much. Parking was excruciatingly bad. There were only about three people directing cars at the entrance, so it took forever just to get in and park. If you arrive early, you end up parking farthest away from the actual event and have a long walk. Getting out after the event was even worse. With basically one exit, traffic barely moved. We were stuck about an hour just to get out. RIDICULOUS. My advice: park outside the park if possible and walk in. The food situation wasn't much better. They had plenty of food trucks, but everything was overly expensive, the lines were long, and you're looking at around a 30-minute wait for food. Another tip: bring your own food and drinks. You'll save money and a lot of time. Overall, the lantern experience itself and the quality time with my family were memorable. I'm glad we experienced it together. But the parking situation, traffic control, expensive food, and long waits really brought the overall experience down.
