Stopped by American Museum of Ceramic Art before my kids' class and was pleasantly surprised…read more The museum is actually bigger than I expected and holds over 7,000 ceramic pieces, with thoughtfully curated exhibitions that change regularly. It was really inspiring, especially since I'm planning to take ceramic classes this year. They also offer quite a few ceramic classes and programs, which I didn't realize before visiting. The museum is open to the public Friday-Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM. The surrounding area didn't feel the safest at first, but the museum has a gated parking lot that is spacious, which made it feel more comfortable. If you're in the area and enjoy art or ceramics, it's definitely worth stopping by.

This museum is located in Pomona, CA. Admission ticket is reasonable at $14. They have permanent artist fellows and revolving exhibits. Parking lot is large enough for at least 200 cars. Staff were nice. I came on a late afternoon to check out the China ceramic exhibit. It was interesting. Overall, it's a nice ceramic museum.

An annual free event put up by the church, the Lights display and show is a family friendly, safe…read moreChristmas event on top of a hill where the church resides. Visitors are greeted by colorful and festive lights as soon as they approach the entrance. There's plenty of security, some armed that watch over the crowd. Staff in yellow jackets will direct visitors. Overall, it's pretty well organized and a friendly group. The main attraction is the light show that takes place every 1/2 hour. This year (2019) the story was about Jesus accompanied by music and synchronized light show. It's pretty good. Next to the light show is set up like a little village. One tent allows kids to do crafts. Others have hot cider or cocoa. Members are dressed in biblical characters and offer to tell stories of God. There's also a sign that points to the Cafe. It's essentially a carnival style trailer that sells drinks and snacks with a limited menu. This year, there are also tables set up that sold everything from cupcakes to skewers. We tried their chicken and bbq pork skewers, and they were all good at an amazing price. Sadly, I overheard someone say this is their last year. There are donation boxes placed throughout, as well as garbage bins. So be generous and responsible, make a nice donation and don't litter. There are even staff members that bring photo lights and offer to help you take family pictures. The Lights on Miracle Hill is a great way to spend an evening if you're not driving too far. Need to know: You'll need to park in the surrounding neighborhood. There is no public parking lot. There are no valets. You'll just have to drive around and look for a spot. You may get lucky, or if you aren't lazy, go farther than where others aren't willing to go. Homeowners's driveways are marked by cones. So obey them and don't block anyone's path. Even though they have heat lamps, dress warm See my photos!

FREE FREE! Had this Christmas light show bookmarked for the longest and finally made it out today…read more Winter wonderland is how I would describe it. The show starts 10 minutes from the actual time they announce online. Giving people who are running late, some leeway. The music, songs and the church itself is breathtaking. If you come early enough, you can grab a seat, otherwise your standing but honestly there are no bad seats/standing area. At the end of the show, there are volunteers that will take pics for you & even hold hand held lights up to give you the perfect selfie/pic. It does get packed, so come early to find parking. Also, reserve free tickets online 1st, there were two lines, one with tickets, one without, the one without was long. They also sell food, balloon lights, drinks, hot chocolate and areas for kid activities. Can't wait to come back next year and make this a yearly tradition. P.S. also, a lot of the homes put cones on the sidewalks to block people from parking right in front of their house. They can't do that, its public right of way, so just move the cone and park.

I've gone to Float Fest for the past 2 years and have had a great experience rain or shine! I look…read moreforward to seeing the hard work up close of these floats. The floats are incredible to see up close with all the detail between the grains and the flowers used. You can easily spend a couple hours there and they have merch and food stalls and live music! It's custom to see the staff at each float and get a card and getting all the cards creates like a puzzle. I have not had the patience to do that but would be a fun activity with kids!

Long overdue review for Float Fest, but wanted to add my two cents on this local event…read more I had the opportunity to attend Float Fest with a group of people and was initially surprised by the fact that this was now a ticketed event. Many moons ago, this was a free event for the community. And though there weren't food and drink options as far as I remember, the concept was the same where you could view the floats up close. I consider this to be the major issue with event. $25+ entry and no real value added to the experience for that price. However, the creativity and craftsmanship continues to amaze me. Many volunteers come together each year to create such memorable works of art that are seen across the world. It seems that my float viewing days will be in the past, but for international visitors I can definitely see the appeal of the event.

Asian American Expo was an event that I've bookmarked but finally gave it a try in 2026. This…read morebecame one of my favorite expos in SoCal. For parking, it was an easy process going from the gate and getting funneled to available spots. They take American Express at the gate. Be prepared to remember where your car is parked because it could feel like a maze later. For food, there were a lot of options all around the venue. There were so many options but my girlfriend and I could only try a handful. There was a good variety of items and we specifically got to try the following: matcha latte, pork belly tacos, tiramisu parfait, pizza taiyaki, and ube banana pudding. We saw online that there was a program. But honestly this wasn't something we focused on. Most of our time was spent browsing the different halls that consisted of different vendors, food vendors, kpop, artwork, anime, etc. The only drawback was we were not able to get a full preview of what vendors were attending. However, we were able to get by with some of the ones highlighted on their instagram and discovered by walking around. We spent about 3.5 hours here. A lot of vendors accepted American Express. Looking forward to coming back here again!

The Asian American Expo is a fantastic way to discover new products; especially food products!…read more This was my second time attending the AAE and as amazing as it was, it wasn't as fun as last year's, which had way more brands and samples (as well as deals). Think, buying products at wholesale prices, without having to buy them in bulk. There were a lot of the usual sponsors, like Toyota that had a wonderful set up; selling merch, giving swag, and having a few display vehicles to wow the patrons. There were also a lot of cultural dances to watch if you wanted to just relax in one place, sit down and watch some drummers drumming or dancers dancing. They were all so beautiful with their make up and outfits! Another note, both years I attended, there was also a simultaneous expo next door called anime impulse. You could walk around on that side too which showcased some neat cars, artisans selling crafts and merchandise, and a whole room full of kpop(Kfest), as well as cosplayers walking around. There was definitely a lot going on and it's definitely worth the 30$ entry ticket and 20$ parking. There were also shuttles (like the ones at Disneyland) taking people to and from their vehicles from the giant parking lot to the venue which was very nice and convenient. A lot of people bring suitcases or wagons to shop without having to keep going to and from their vehicles in the parking lot too often, dropping off goods (it gets heavy and hard to walk around!)

Once we got to the inn ... lucky for me, he knew where to go so we did not have to wait in line to go into the lobby so we got into the lobby fairly quick. The outside of the inn is beautiful! I love it so! It was full of lights! It was magical. The lobby was all decorated with trees and Santa's toy shop. On the balconies of the inn, they had decorative animated figures. They look like they were singing Christmas carols. I love coming here but I do not love the parking situation or how crowded it is. I took off one point for the parking situation. I feel there should be more signs directing you to the paid parking lot. I took off one star for this.
