What a great rescue! Hubby and I only recently discovered the rescue through a very sad event. But…read morewere pleasantly surprised when we showed up to drop off a donation, the staff was friendly and helpful- of course, they accepted the gifts in kind with open arms and expressed gratitude. We asked if they minded if we looked around, so we popped in the back to see the dogs. The place was exceptionally clean and the place just looked beautiful, you can tell the staff really cares for all of the animals! Please consider adopting a dog before buying a purebred- these wonderful little babies need homes too!

We have had experience with two other animal rescue businesses and can tell you that PAR takes outstanding care of their rescues. The environment in which they live until they find their forever home is loving and they are individually and collectively very well cared for and loved. We couldn't be happier with Rocky, who was considered a special needs cat. He is shy but has really become attached to my wife and he is warming up to me too. Rocky has been with us a little over two months and has become a part of our family. He gets along very well with our Siamese female rescue Coco. They are nearly the same age (Rocky will be five in June/Coco will be five in August). So, if you've been thinking about adopting a rescue, please check out PAR in Lapeer, MI. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

A storm came through that night and his fence was damaged, allowing Zoey to escape. Although I was two hours away, I posted my dog's mug all over The Love of Louie Facebook page and countless other shelters' pages, while my father-in-law scoured the entire Troy area for any signs of my dog. We had a couple sightings miles away but no one could scoop her up. Luckily for us, that's where OCAC came in. Their animal control officers were able to capture Zoey six miles from the house in Troy on Monday. Because I'd posted her picture on their official Facebook page over the weekend, they instantly recognized her and called me. What a relief! After verifying her microchip ID, we determined it was my pup. I was able to retrieve Zoey with proof of her rabies shot and her Dearborn dog license. The people in the office were friendly and non-judgmental. They answered all our questions without hesitation. It was a truly pleasant experience. I saw them getting a couple dogs ready for adoption and they were so nice and helpful. It's obvious the people working the front counter loves animals AND people (a rarity if you ask me).

This place is great for what it is, and the animals are well taken care of. I'd give 1 star…read moreotherwise. The staff there is a bit rough, feels like they want to make you uncomfortable. I noticed some of the handlers try to pull at your heart strings while meeting a new furry friend. This guilt trip more or less could push someone into an adoption that may not be right for the animal or human. I can understand the need for space, funding, and all the babies need a home. However, that sort of behavior could cause a bad cycle.
