We followed the Yelp reviews to this community hub, it's full of good local flavor, with lots of…read moreregulars. I can see why the locals enjoy it. It's in a very small town. They offer cod, perch, and walleye dinners, w your choice of dry or wet batter. The walleye was delicious, with 2 nice pieces, and piping hot. At our 4-top table, the two 6-piece perch fillet dinners were on the cool side, temp wise. My husband was seated when it was served and he says as soon as he tasted it he could tell it had sat a while. I saw the dinners sitting out on the kitchen counter when we went past to the restroom. Being that the pieces of lake perch are much smaller than walleye, it might have contributed to how they cooled quickly, but I would have enjoyed the perch so much more if it would have been piping hot like the walleye. For fried fish, hot is a requirement. That being said, they were not over cooked. The shrimp in the basket my daughter got were quite tasty (and hot) for 6.75. Recommend. The clam chowder tasted homemade and also was excellent. The mashed potatoes were real, fries were better than average, and the baked was delicious. It comes with about a tablespoon of sour cream. They also had a good beef gravy for the mashed. Sadly, the cole slaw was past its prime, and my little cup was even effervescent, a sure sign it's been on the shelf a while. Our water was light on ice and rather tepid to drink. Oddly, we weren't given an itemized bill. Rather after waiting for quite a while for our total, we were given a verbal quote. When our sever brought back our card slip, she stood there and held our card while waiting and watching for the tip to be signed! That's not ok and terribly rude. I say this with experience as a server and a former resident of a very small town. If it wasn't table service, she shouldn't have taken our order at the table from the get go. Or she could have asked us to bring up the bill to pay after it was dropped off, if it had ever been dropped off. We still tipped 20 %, but that's not normal no matter how small the town is. The dining room was pretty full and you could tell things kept moving. There is also a lively takeout business and a table outside. She was working alone until the end of our visit. So, this isn't a bad plaice, but I'm not sure it's the diamond in the rough that other reviewers found it to be. If it's full, you will prob up waiting for service. For paying nearly $60 out the door for dinner, I think we could have done better.

We've been here before but always make a stop when we're out this way. A bit cold for ice cream,…read morebut it's sooo good (and they have a wood stove heating things up)! One caveat: the tips are designated for an affiliated church unless you specifically want to tip your server. A Raspberry Rendezvous for me and a caramel 'sea turtle', and we're a couple of happy customers! You will be, too, when you stop at the Milkhouse Cafe.

We were in area for Mothers Day and my crew wanted ice cream. Found this place on yelp. Super fun…read moreshop. Imagine they are crazy busy on weekends and summer. Line moved quick. Nice signage to explain menu choices. You order at ice cream counter and then move to coffee counter where you can order drinks or just pay. Indoor and outdoor seating. Seems connected to a church. Bathrooms beautiful and many places to sit from high tops to couches to tables inside to picnic tables outside. They are known for their life cream tacos so we tried 2 which were ig enough to split. We ordered the Dirt Road and Coffee Toffee Crunch. Apparently they are $7 on taco Tuesdays ;). Super delicious and high quality ice cream. We also ordered a pour over with cream. They forgot the cream but with ice cream I decided I didn't need it. Pour overs take a bit but then even longer bc they were so busy. So the timing of it with ice cream was off and I wish I hadn't ordered it. No way to get seating and then be called back so I just stood there while my family dug into tacos. Glad they saved some for me! Highly recommend and definitely would go back.

I always see a huge line in the summer so I was intimidated to go for many years but this summer I…read morefinally saw a short line and decided to give it a try. There were only two people ordering ahead of us and two people behind us but it took about 20-30 minutes by the time we paid and got our one scoop of ice-cream in a cup. There was only one girl working at the time but I still think it took too long to get three orders of ice cream ready. The ice-cream itself was below average for a parlour. It tasted like old ice-cream that you left in the fridge for too long with bits of ice particles and uneven texture. The only nice thing about this place is the outside garden where we could eat and enjoy a beautiful day. Overall, not worth the hype and time spent in line.

Nothing to write home about, overpriced for what it is. The doughy puffy thingy on the bottom was hard to eat with the plastic spoon they provide, they should of gave me a plastic knife to cut it into edible pieces, instead I made a mess trying to cut the hard doughy puff ball with the spoon. When I arrived they had a line of people and only one employee working, but she called for help and someone showed up shortly after, to help with the line of customers. The vanilla ice cream wasn't anything special, I've had better at lesser places. The outside atmosphere was really nice with the landscaping and places to sit at.
