I have not met him yet. I pray he could rid me from these esculatingly horrible cataracts.

We arrived at 9:00 for my 9:25 appointment for Cataract surgery. I wasn't taken in until 11:20. I then spent another hour and a half in pre-op being prepped and waiting for surgery. When the doctor finally came in to see me, he did not introduce himself or speak to us and proceeded to look at my eye. My wife asked him if he knew who I was to which he replied, "I'm about to". He then looked at my wristband to see my name. Over concern about my diabetes and the fact that I hadn't eaten in fifteen hours, she asked him for the reason for the delay having been there nearly four hours. He could provide no answer and became nearly belligerent with her. How can a doctor who is about to perform surgery not know the name of the patient he is about to operate on. After another half hour, when completely prepped for surgery, Dr. Huffman returned to inform us that he did not feel comfortable performing the surgery as he was so shaken by our previous discourse. He told us that pre-op staff told him of private conversations my wife and were having, that they overheard. He further stated that if anything went wrong with the surgery he was concerned about a lawsuit. In our lives my wife and I have never even considered a lawsuit for anything. It was highly inappropriate for him to bring up potential lawsuits prior to performing my surgery. In my 77 years I have never dealt with a doctor who was so rude, confrontational and unprofessional. We are also unhappy with LCSS. While the LCSS staff were pleasant and efficient, why are they eavesdropping on private patient conversations and reporting them back to doctors? Neither Dr. Huffman nor anyone from LCSS could provide a reasonable explanation why a 10-minute procedure would take upwards to four hours. Going forward my wife and I will have nothing more to do with Huffman & Huffman nor Lake Cumberland Surgery Center.

Apparently they had about 15 people scheduled for 8:30 am. We had to wait for almost an hour to be seen. Today I had an diabetic appointment for 8:30 am and again the waiting room was standing room only as all the chairs were filled. I was the 9th person to check-in this time. After waiting for over an hour, I asked about how much longer is the wait. She checked and said there are three more people ahead of you. Due to what the Dr needs to do I cannot give an idea of how much longer you will have to wait. I said: "Apparently the doctor doesn't want to see me. Goodbye." Though the doctor is good. Don't go unless you are ready to wait for up to two hours after your appointment time.
