You can tell by the new chairs and picnic tables! Natural spring fed lake with just about everything you can think of for a fun day in the sun (summer... fall... and winter...) Let's start with summer... pontoon sun deck with diving board, dock with diving board, water slide... Plenty of room to lay out. Just about anything under the sun can be rented for maximum enjoyment.. paddle boards, boats, paddle boats, floats, rafts etc etc. all reasonable prices. Here with family? A roped off sandy beach area with a couple floats for the kids to enjoy. Also- ADA water toys to help those that need help getting into the water. A nice touch! Did I mention an ice cream cart that drives around?! Or if you don't want to wait... a snack bar with all the options... water/pop/gaterade and snacks... including ice-cream. Want to host a party? There is a barn. Or a pavilion and plenty of upgrades to make the day fun including grills to rent or comfortable lounge chairs. Rentals are endless.... Anything and everything to make the day great. Wouldn't be surprised if you could purchase a bathing suit at this place. Not into water? Plenty of fun activities on land. Volleyball nets, orbeez gun obstacle to go all tactical with your buddies, horse shoe, disc golf. Sounds like camping is now included. And plenty of fire pits to rent for a fall gathering. It is all still there and even better because with the hustle and bustle of life..Simple pleasures may fall to wayside. Recently, I went boating with friends. The word perfect comes to mind! So beautiful, relaxing and calming. The boat launch is very nice and there are places around the lake to stop, get a snack and use the facilities. The park is clean, super well-maintained and the staff were also nice. I will make it a point to come back a few times this summer! We are fortunate to have such a gem in our midst.

Yet another beautiful free Michigan park!…read more This is connected to Furstenberg Park by a short trail that is mostly boarded by wood and has some small bridges. I like to bird watch and saw a cool Wood Ducks in the water, a tree swallow, and a swan! You can also stop by the water (very close to the shore) in the short hike at least 3 times and see some turtles. And there are many chipmunks and some other birds along the path. And there are a lot of people canoeing or kayaking on the water.

Great park for distance running - when I was training for a half marathon, I would come here for anywhere from 3-8 mile runs. I actually typically like parking at the boat launch entrance off Geddes, but there is plenty of parking at the main entrance as well. It's just a little bit of a quieter entrance to the park. Over the last couple of years, they've had some fantastic art displays there as well. Very dog friendly, kid friendly, bike friendly, all of the above! Tends to be one of the busier parks, but for good reason.

They were resurfaced about 3 years ago and still look brand new. But, that is because they are completely unplayable. Whoever resurfaced those courts left air pockets that substantially effect play on all four courts. If you are a 3.0 player or above I would recommend finding another place to play. The problem for us GP Park residents is that they converted the Patterson Park courts to Pickleball courts leaving us without a playable tennis court in all of GPP. It is crying shame that those managing a park system like ours cannot find a solution to this problem.

I still remember as a kid swimming around the adult pool when it wasn't adult time and watching this bigger guy we all lovingly called Boblo boat swim around the perimeter of the pool by using his hands as wheel to pedal around the pool and do his laps. It was also the first time I saw the fool horror of the red Speedo from the slicked backer tall guy that would walk around proudly by the pool, only taking a dip to cool off some. This is where I took my tennis lessons as a kid. This is where I learned to fish over by the harbor piers. They have improved the community center and it's now a nice Tompkin's center and a great communal spot to watch movies. It's great for renting for parties and gatherings. I don't live in GPP any more but I have many friends that still do and thus I still am able to visit this wonderful park that holds so many fond childhood memories for me.
