To put in context this is a game day, everyone had been drinking and the man leading my blind friend was a lot more drunk than he was. Not only that but all of the other people were at the same level of intoxication On Friday November 26th at roughly 10:05pm, me and four of my friends attempted to enter your establishment. When we went to enter this establishment I was with a blind man that was immediately discriminated against. There was a few minutes of a verbal altercation before the first bouncer took this blind man to the ground in a choke hold from behind. He essentially body slammed my friend on the ground, from behind, again my friend is blind. Breaking his cane. This was ON THE PUBLIC sidewalk and not within the building. Which would constitute as an assault. He got up and was the verbal altercation continued because now he had just been assaulted when the other gentleman pushed him and made him hit his head. We have multiple photos of the damages done to my friend including injuries to his head, neck, shoulder, chest and knees. The best thing to do for my friend was get him away from these men who were obviously on a power trip. However the injuries that he has resulted from this are absolutely Ludacris. Especially because the one bouncer stated that he works with disabled people for his day job. From my understanding the public sidewalk is not within jurisdiction and these two men assaulted my friend pretty heavily. I would question who you have as a bouncer for your establishment. They discriminate and they are on a power trip. read more

We hit Sandy's a little after 6pm on a saturday night. Stopped in for a drink while waiting for the concert venue next door to open. Large bar. Nice beer selection, package service it appeared. as well as simpsons playing on the televisions and a Kiss pinball machine (sounds great in my book already) Had some good conversation with the bartender. he was very friendly open and had been working there a long time. I am not familiar at all with Lincoln, and he was very helpful educating me. After the concert we stopped back in and it was HAPPENING!! Great activity with the 21-25 age group and a couple of people in their 30's. This was outside of the school year so i am sure it would be a different experience another time. A few bartenders however (and technically you could argue all of them because complicity and give this place a negative 2) were not so cool. We noticed a bunch of giggling and pointing to the bottle in my photo - Absolute Grapefruit. Someone took a black sticker and placed it strategically over the G so the bottle reads Rapefruit. Pretty dece, right about par for a downtown Lincoln bar. Their claim to fame is "Elk Creek Water," this mixed drink they serve in these big ass pitchers. Kind of a dump. Walked in, bouncer was uptight and had no idea what an actual ID looked like. Called the cops and everything only for the bouncer to wrongfully accuse me of having a fake ID. They added couches in the corner for a relaxed vibe. Gets really busy on the weekend and then it's get sticky but it's a college bar so you can't expect much. They have a pool table and a new age jukebox, just make sure the songs you are paying for actually play. Sometimes the bartenders don't like your choices and change it to their xm radio or what have you. read more

I was hanging across the street last night saw a blind man and his friend miss the crosswalk sign (crazy cause hes blind right, he couldnt see the light) and then when his group Called him Back your bouncers singled him out as "too drunk" and when he said "why because I am blind" they said no cause you are slurring your words, but actually this was the first they had heard him speak and when he called them On it, and called Them to the carpet on the fact they were singling him out due soley to his disability, they pushed him, threw him, and beat him down. Then he got really mad (who wouldn't after being picked on and then beaten), and they continued much of the same until his friends took him away to end the situation that your bouncers created. I was able to get one of the friends numbers and found out he was hospitalized for his injuries! I just couldnt believe your bouncers were physically assaulting a handicapped person. Luckily I got a bit of video I will be sending on to their lawyer. Shocked and apalled honestly. read more

I don't know why my friends love this place so much. The decor is about as memorable as the Lincoln skyline. The only defense I've ever heard for Sandy's is the Elk Creek Water. Everyone at Sandy's seems to have a pitcher of Elk Creek Water with them. It's a screw-driver, people. I know some people get all up in arms about it, and start pointing out the ingredients list, but frankly, my darling, I don't give a damn about the ingredients. It tastes like watered down screwdrivers and gets you about as drunk as a Capri Sun. In fact, it tastes sort of like Capri Sun came out with a "screwdriver" flavored juice pack for little kids. Dear god, If i wanted to be assaulted by the Nesting Dolls of the Bro Cult I would have stumbled into a frat house about four blocks away. The mixed drinks are mostly mix and you have to have a pitcher of whatever the orange pitchers are to get anything real accomplished in drinking terms... and that's what you need to do. Drink to forget that you're in this place. The "Elk Creek Water" is drinkable... very drinkable in fact... and that is the only thing going for this place. Which, to their credit, is DEFINITELY a plus. In fact... you get a + + ... but that does not equate another star. I will say, I am most certainly NOT the demographic of this bar. But that in no way should be reflected in how the staff treats me. This is a nice wide-open bar with lots of bar seats and tv's. We stopped in here before a Nebraska football game and enjoyed the pre-game atmosphere and the ability to watch a lot of the other football games going on. The best thing about this place is a special secret-recipe mixed drink they serve called Elk Creek. It's kind of like a watered-down screwdriver - much lighter and very refreshing. Sandys is a bar on the "O" street strip of bars frequently inhabited by colliegans. I wouldn't even give this bar the time of day to review if it isn't for the beloved Elk Creek Water which everyone raves about, its true, it really is amazing. The Drink: full bar, but with so many bars to choose from the signature drink you will want to try here is Elk Creek Water. Its an orange juice and everclear concoction that goes down real smooth. Sometimes this drink comes for 8 bucks a pitcher, and trust me, you only need one pitcher. The place: one large room with McDonald's-esque seating, the decor is somewhat rustic ad dingy with a large elk head on the wall, plenty of lit up beer signs and a bell that is supposedly rang everytime someone drinks the aforementioned drink, but most likley you will only hear the bell once or twice in your stay. The smell is something you must experience too, its like a dirty lemon cleanser used in cheap bathrooms, but atleast it goes with the decor. Oh, and dont bring your favorite shoes unless you want them to stick to the floor for the next few days, the elk creek water seems to impair patrons ability to hold glasses with only one hand. The bathrooms: walk past the bar and down a small even dingier hall and into the bathroom, im not sure if there are even doors. I will leave the bathroom to your imagination based on the rest of the decor. Conclusion: Great drink, it goes down smooth, plus your getting a ton of Vitamin C. But, there are better places to go, so I wouldn't reccommend this to become your "bar of choice". read more

Me and my friends typically love coming to Sandy's, and tonight I had such a bad experience I will not be back. I was in line with my friends and showed the bouncer my ID and then another woman (another bouncer I'm assuming) told her not to let me in because I was over served. I had barely drank and was not stumbling or slurring my words or doing anything that would signal that I was drunk. I was genuinely confused and asked why because I was fully coherent. I wasn't given an answer just that I wasn't allowed inside. I have worked as a bartender and waitress since I was 18 and understand how the service industry works. I was very upset because I come to Sandy's all the time and I've never had any issues. I'm not a person who likes to get drunk and I've never been denied service any where before. I went to 2 more bars that night with no issues about being let in. Every establishment has the right not to serve someone I just wish I knew why I was singled out. read more

Sandy's is pretty much the only bar I go to in downtown Lincoln. It's at a perfect location and always has a great crowd. I have really liked every drink the bartenders have made for me, and they're always willing to surprise me with something new. All the bartenders are friendly and fun to be around.
