That being said, we went up for a two night stay to check out the UP and Lake Superior. After looking for someplace to stay, we came across Hiawatha Motel on Yelp. After reading the reviews, we decided to book the king size room. When we arrived, I still had speculations on our decision. I checked in at the little lobby and the lady (owner) was so nice and hospitable. She was kind and even provided a few suggestions for local restaurants that "are the best in the UP". After checking in, we went to the room. It was recently renovated and was very clean. The bathroom area was sanitized. The bed was made nicely and extremely comfortable. It had a couple chairs and little table. The fridge and microwave was nice and clean. I even watched a little TV (all via Roku). You can tell that the family that owns this property takes great care in ensuring their guests are comfortable, provide a welcoming experience and surprise even the pickiest of guests like me. I definitely recommend it. The price, location, hospitality and cleanliness are well worth it.

Bathrooms are a little dingy and the water pressure is low in the toilets, which I nearly plugged. The facility does have a pool and hot tub, and a non working sauna. The staff is decent and easy to communicate with. If you plan on using vending machines, bring change with, as the front desk never has change. Good continental breakfast and enormous parking lot. The price is a bit high for the overall quality in return.

The room had a bigger sized refrigerator with a freezer compartment which was welcomed and the only one with a freezer in the five hotels we stayed at during this road trip. The only gripe was the room on our second stay had a water saving faucet that was pretty worthless - funny the first room was different. To make our experience even worst, the shower drainage did not work. Water was up to ankles the whole time while showering. As for breakfast, a place that offers free breakfast, sure wasn't prepared for all of their guests. There was a 15-20 minutes wait to refill the trays. This was our second time here at this place but will never return again. It was so disappointing. I also hope the rooms get cleaned up!
