Well the place is old...I remember it from when I was a kid and even spent a few nights there back in the 80's (not so nice then). Walked into a very clean kitchenette and living room, fully furnished with a couch(side by side recliners, recliner, princess Anne chair, and dinette set. Small stove, refrigerator, 2 bedrooms with l sized beds (yes they were tiny). Kitchen was stocked with any implement I would need to make a dinner. Direct TV. It is right on the bay (Big Bay de Noc) and was filled with people there to fish (not sure which kind of fish they were catching). VERY VERY clean. A Mr Coffee and a perculator are there, even filters for the drip maker. There was cubes in the trays. dishes and silverware, cups plates, bowls etc. Stop in cities either east or west of motel for groceries. Water was The owner is very nice and the best [part is any taxes or extra charges are figured into the fee so it was $72.00 a night. The only downfall I found were the tiny overly bouncy beds, but I will put up them for what I got. WIFI far from good, more like dial-up, but that is what you get in the sticks. There is a fire pit. There is a bit of beachfront but lots of weeds Close to a nice beach and many attractions. I will stay here again! If looking for stuff to do while here, Fayette state park is incredible and is Big Springs state park. A bit further away is the cities of Escanaba, Manistique, Munising, Gladstone, and Marquette. You can stay as busy as you want.

Being a regular at airports, I am used to being at airports 1-2 hours prior to departure. But that is not necessary in Escanaba. I didn't realize that the rental car return desk would be unmanned, and that the security checkpoint doesn't open until 40 minutes before departure. Had I realized that I would be sitting around for an hour before I could go through security, I would have use used that hour to find a last pretty lakeside spot to enjoy on my UP adventure. But rental car keys were turned into the lockbox, and nothing was in walking distance of the airport, so I waited. Props to the airport for good wifi and clean bathrooms. There are no restaurants or snack bars, just vending machines. Delta staff was friendly (they're the only airline at the airport). It seemed like all the people chatting at the gate were locals, and seemed happy to run into each other on their way to wherever the connection to Detroit took them. My only gripe was with the TSA agents. There is no TSA Precheck, and they were gruff sticklers on the new "guideline" to remove all snacks from your bag. Even after pulling out all my goodies, they still flagged a bar in the depths of my suitcase. But boarding the CRJ took about 5 minutes, and we took off before scheduled departure time...no runway traffic at this airport!

I flew in for work and can just tell how small and cute this airport is. One gate, one security…read moreline, one baggage claim (not a belt like usual), one rental car company, no restaurants or shops (just vending machines) It is clean and quick to get thru which are huge perks, flying out of local airports have some positives no doubt, just show up ready to fly and get on your way.

Sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking here. I even spotted a family of deer walk through the yard at dusk! The interior of the house is very comfortable, relaxing, and homey. There is even a new refrigerator! Two bathrooms and two bedrooms are available with a large living, dining, and kitchen area. The house was spotlessly clean as well. I very highly recommend this location to explore the charm of Escanaba!

Chef Joshua Curtis is charming and approachable without ever dominating - so full of culinary insights and clear descriptions of flavors. He prepared a six course meal just for us. We were extra challenging diners as one of us is vegetarian and the other is not. He accomodated us both seamlessly. Our courses were similar in flavor combinations, just slightly altered so as to incorporate either meat or non-meat options. The man is truly an artist. He guided us through the entire dining adventure with his expertise and his warmth. Each plated dish was unique, satisfying, and beautifully presented. We have been lucky enough to travel to some pretty cool places over the years and dine in some pretty special restaurants. We honestly are having trouble thinking of an evening out that was as special as our evening at The Blue Mystique Inn.

The spots are decent sized and I did like they were spaced apart. I don't like vault toilets but this spot was a compromise for a camping trip with my boyfriend. I need showers and actual bathrooms but for a day in a tent this place was actually really good. The toilets didn't smell but definitely take a light with you as there isn't one in there and even in daylight it's a little dark.

Nice quiet "rustic" campground located on the Indian River. Wooded campsites and most you can…read morebarely see your neighbor. I would recommend the campsites on the river, good views of the River and your own spot to launch your water craft. I would recommend site 13. The loop around the site is paved so good for pushing a stroller. We stayed a couple nights in September, colors were great and the kayaking was excellent on the Indian, I would recommend putting in closer to Steuben. We did the stretch from McCormick to the access on bass lake road, awesome water and scenery to float, fishing was poor but end of September was too late, I'm sure action would be good in the summer. Maps located at access points on the River. There is a very friendly convenience store just south on 13 where the lady was glad to let me fill up my camper with potable water and has gas, another one just north that looked nice too. Nice overall campground and area, pure Michigan!
