Nice beach with a large water slide and floating dock to swim out to. Tons of kayaks and toys to play with in the water. A large game room with air hockey and ping pong along with arcade games and a loft space to gather above it. We stay in the cabins 2-5 that are close to the beach and playground. Fun activities for the kids - especially this year! We did the tie-dye as we do every year, but also created a stepping stone with the kids and sign painting for adults. Craig & Angie have managed the resort for a few years and are making small/positive changes each year. Recently added was bags sets and a 9 square court (I guess it's cross between volleyball and 4 square). These are in addition to the volleyball/basketball/horseshoe and fire pit. Breakfasts were good and the place was really quiet at night. It also has a really nice, good-sized indoor pool. It's located just on the outskirts of the town so there's plenty of shopping and lake access in a very short walking/driving distance. Best of all, loons in the lake! Cons: The rooms, or at least the one we had, are a bit dated. Everything certainly looked clean, but definitely a bit worn down. One special note, for those getting the 'economy' room (307?); the bathroom needs some rework. The shower could fit 4 people easily, but the toilet is unbelievably low and is jammed into a corner, making the 'sit down' experience a bit of an adventure. I'm 5' 8" and 225 lbs., and it was definitely an 'issue.' If you're bigger than me, avoid this room until they redo the bathroom. Definitely not enough to take a star off, but something you and they should be aware of.

Rude staff that took no responsibility for the many things that went wrong during our week stay. My family and I rented 3 cabins 10 months in advance with Lakeside views. However, one of the cabins rented was tore down last fall. So instead of a 2 bedroom on the lake they gave us a one bedroom furthest from the Lake. So we were no longer all together. No apology, and no discount on the cabin. The owner(Tammy), just said, "it's not my fault." She tried to blame it on the fact that they are waiting for "State" to come out and approve the new cabin being built in its place. The new cabin wasn't even finished and we all had to listen to saws and construction the entire week. Basically it was just a huge lie. Day 2, our plumbing in Oak and Balsam was backing up into the sinks. We informed staff of the situation and it took several hours before someone came to take a look at it. Turns out the plumbing has been an issue for several weeks and they had to get an excavator in to fix a busted pipe. We went without sewer and water for 1.5 days. Once again we were given no apology. When asked if we would get a discount Tammy's response was, "No, it's not my fault this happened." The cabins were filthy. Floors were not even cleaned. Mouse poop in the bathtub, cobwebs everywhere, doors don't shut, windows do not stay open and soooooo many dead bugs everywhere. Cabin Little Moose was infested with ants. For a whole week's stay we were given one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, and 2 trash bags. Everyday I had to go down to the office to get more toilet paper and trash bags. Not to mention there is no one in the office to help you ever. You have to search to grounds to find them. We were told to place our trash outside the cabin and staff will pick it up during the day. So as you would assume I woke up several mornings with trash everywhere from the animals and rodents getting into it. A barrel would probably be appropriate to prevent this from happening. On our last day Tammy came over to our cabin and told us our boat was in the wrong spot and made us move it for someone else. The boat was in the same spot all week and it was in a spot they assigned to us the first day. When we checked out Tammy accused our group of going into another cabin when our plumbing was out to shower. To which we never did and find that to be so bazaar. Very unprofessional, poor customer service, rude, and clearly don't care about their guests. PLEASE, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT STAY HERE.

These owners are super nice people and beyond fair in their dealings. Free K-cup coffee and popcorn in the office, they actually bring popcorn to you most evenings as you sit around the campfire. Free donuts, juice, and coffee by the lake your first morning there. A fun "holey-board" tourney is a highlight. The only complaints about this place I have ever heard are by entitled folks who don't believe in parking boat trailers in the provided parking area and are otherwise rude rule-breakers in general! Rules are there to protect both the owner and you. The owners are NOT sticklers and will work with you. We rented a window A/C and they didn't charge us because it ended up being a cool week and we only ran it a couple days. The grounds are well-maintained. The driveway and area around the office are paved, so my granddaughter had a blast riding her scooter. Cabins are quite nice, spacious, and comfortable with nice kitchens... no slackers here. Newer cabins are VERY nice, and some have central air. Volleyball, playground, and a very large lawn for games. They have boats available, including pontoons. There are several docks and a swimming beach with lots of water toys. The lake isn't really big, so that means you don't wake up in the morning to jet-skis! Very quiet place, and they even have nesting bald eagles. Very close to Nevis and a nice drive to Park Rapids for shopping or to Walker for shopping and the casino. This is infinitely better than our previous resort home, both in ownership and in overall amenities.
