I came through the Cape Cod Canal on July 26th, 2018 and needing diesel fuel I had to stop at Sandwich Marina, I wouldn't have made it to the next fueling marina. I filled my tank with diesel, and about 3 hours later my engine started powering down. Check the water separator and the fuel in there looked like mud. I mean it looked like it was filled with mud. I had to buy my engine three new fuel filters, the RACOR, the lifting pump filter and the final filter element the the tune of about $80 altogether for filter elements and other parts you are advised to replace when you change filters. I generally avoid buying fuel from marinas over-all when I can, and this is why, but this fuel was worse than any I have ever seen. If you are able and you don't need so much fuel, buy diesel from a roadside gas station where its probably cheaper, higher quality and a faster turnover rate. (i.e. not old and dirty). It was a busy marina so you'd think mid season the fuel would have been used and replaced already, but I guess not the diesel, or maybe they buy cheap diesel the distributor is trying hard to get rid of before eating it. read more
