I finally came inside this shop after eyeing it every time I went into the Walmart, or every time I got my brows threaded. Pretty much this place carries most of everything I love. Custom local jewelry with minerals in them. PLANTS and plant accessories. Fun clothing options and perfumes. Also the decor in this place is just so nice! It's all really well put together! I love their selection of house plants. They have some really lovely looking pieces that I would have gagged at if I didn't already have them. They have your silver swords and pink princess philodendrons. I'm pretty happy to have this near our neck of the woods! I plan to come back and see what else they have in store! This store is the absolute cutest! Walked in with my fiancé on Christmas Eve, and found the most hilarious candle! It was a middle finger, and our Pop just recently had his middle finger removed, so naturally we HAD to give him a hard time! It was handmade and beautifully packaged, the owner also packed it in a cute gift bag with tissue paper. This gift brought the family tons of laughter, and I am so thankful, as we recently lost a huge part of our family. If you have ever watched the show Schitt's Creek (If you haven't I recommend), this store definitely gave me the Rose Apothecary vibe in real life. Their website is also extremely detailed, and gives history on the story behind Sandstone Goods & Trading. I will be a returning customer for sure! 10/10 HIGHLY RECCOMEND. read more

Apparently writing an honest review upsets the owner who called me a liar, yet also admitted what I said was true. If they are so concerned they are more than free to check their items to ensure they are all clearly priced, and they should. I will not support a business, local, small or big box that is so rude to potential customers. Nothing that did actually have a price tag was reasonably priced. read more

That being said - many of our products are produced in small batches to maintain the highest quality of ingredients and craftsmanship, and we work directly with vendors to keep things new and exclusive. Some of our products will stick around as long as you continue to love them, and some will come and go as the seasons change.

History

Established in 2020.

Sandstone Goods was established during the height of the pandemic as a fully online specialty retail shop. We attended many pop-up vendor events around Kern County as our community began to re-open for in-person shopping and we are thrilled to have our first flagship storefront open as of June 2, 2022!

Meet the Business Owner: Rik S.

I am constantly awe inspired by the creativity and vision of so many makers here in California, across the country, and around the world - and my goal is to highlight and introduce you to many of them. While our shop aesthetic is ever changing and evolves as we discover new things, we tend to gravitate toward modern lines, earthy layered tones, and subtle textures. I started this company out of my own desire for quality handcrafted goods, a love of houseplants, and from a lack of availability to support more local, homegrown small businesses. After more than twenty years of working in corporate retail, I decided it was time for a change - time to start from scratch and develop my own little specialty shop. With much time and effort spent connecting with our community, sourcing uniquely crafted products, and with a massive amount of support from family and friends, Sandstone was born.

It was located in the back of a shopping center but it was a nice hidden gem. I was greeted by the owner Julie who offered her help. I browsed the store and saw so many items I personally loved. I purchased a cool Cocktail book of recipes from around the world. I also purchased some really cute marble heart coasters. My friend was very happy with her gift. The customer service was great and my gift was even bagged beautifully and ready to give to my friend. I will definitely be returning to The French Quarter.

This Nordstrom Rack has plenty of inventory it just happens to be average, overpriced items that can be found at the TJ Maxx right next door or somewhere between Marshalls and Kohls. Today was probably one of the few times that I actually was looking for a pair of shoes and they happen to be some hocus I don't believe Nordstrom Rack does price matching when they add their stickers to their products but a lot of their products are overpriced whether something is on sale or not is debatable. Today I was looking for On clouds or Hokas for my upcoming trip. The Nordstrom Rack usually has comparable prices to online at the on store or even the Hoka store but after researching several items including the one in the pictures below there's no reason to shop at Nordstrom Rack anymore, instead shop online and save 10 to 20%. I really do understand sales price meaning Hoka can run better sales in most cases as the manufacturer but most items are overpriced in Nordstrom Rack. Ralph Lauren polo shirts two to three years old are still running $70 even more expensive than the outlet price, basically Nordstrom Rack is overpriced in my opinion and this one in Bakersfield has given me reason to continue to go.

Some even requested just underwear that fit. Their needs were simple, and with the community donating wonderful items Bargain Box was able to make it happen. They are run by volunteers, and every penny goes to clothes for children in need. Everyone that works there is friendly and welcoming. It's so clean and inviting. This is how you run a thrift store, unlike the ones we recently went to in Lancaster, charging outrageous amounts for used things they got for free.
