Some things I don't expect, like being told at check in that the reservation has been moved to 2100, only to be made to feel like a naughty boy later on as the reservation is in the system for 1830.... communication issue here.
Tables and decor were nice, gave a good Brasserie feeling, relaxed and friendly service, other than from the Maitre'D. Order was taken promptly, and wine advice was fine - a decent bottle of Cotes Du Rhone for under £30, can't complain when eating in such a salubrious Hotel.
Starters were pretty good, lovely Lobster Bisque and my Crayfish Salad was good also.
The downfall was the Main Course, Leg of Lamb Steak, relatively well priced at £15.95 (I think) was incredibly fatty, much more than I would have expected, and a £25 Sirloin was dry and tasteless.
No check back and we had to ask for condiments - twice. Nobody poured our wine, and when we commented about the dishes we were only told that they would pass our comments to the chef. Maitre'D never came over to apologise or at least acknowledge that we had not finished our mains.
They didn't charge us for our coffee, but that was a paltry gesture considering the main element of the meal fell far from the mark. Paid the bill and left, thankfully the Duty Manager in the morning seemed to care a bit more about our experience.... read more
