I'm so glad I found this shop. These guys are total professionals; their skill and attention to detail are what set them apart. There are many in the area for a guy to get a haircut but this is a true barber shop. They do much more than the assembly line cuts that the other places sometimes offer. They take the time to get the style right, instead of just trying to get you out of their chair and moving on to the next cut. Yesterday I arrived at the shop about 10 minutes before they closed. This was the only place I found that was open on a Sunday! We had very minimal wait and their attention to detail during the haircut was phenomenal. The only downfall was the price. Yelp had it listed as $ and honestly this is not what i consider to be $ prices it's more like $$ or $$$ compared to other shops prices. This is the only reason why I knocked off a star. I really wanted to make it a point to give this place five stars on yelp after my last haircut. I just moved to the neighborhood and needed a new great barber in the area to do my hair. After going to a few places with good reviews in the area, I landed on Sandro's. THANK GOD. These guys are legit af. Just a few guys and the same guys every time you visit. I love that. I get the sense that not just anyone can cut at Sandro's. The owner seems to be there all the time which I also love. Besides that, their professionalism is on point. Its easy to take for granted great barbers. Ive been going for a long time but i stopped going since i moved. Ive tried many others on my new area which has numerous barbershops and its never the same. In moving to the Dunning neighborhood from renting in Lincoln Square for some years, I found it difficult in finding a barbershop/barber that knows how to cut hair. Cash only, no credit or debit cards accepted. $18 for a cut. We called ahead to make sure they would cut a woman's hair (though I have a men's style cut). They assured me that they would, and said I could bring a picture of a cut that I wanted. I was apprehensive about being a woman and walking into a barber shop. Sandro might have sensed my apprehension and he was very welcoming and comforting. It was a Saturday afternoon and there were four men seated and waiting. I expected to wait an hour for a cut, but they immediately sat me in one of the barber's chairs and a woman cut my hair. Apparently the line of seated men was waiting for Sandro. She asked for instruction and I wasn't very good at explaining what I wanted. She was not flustered by my lack of direction, and she said, "we will take little steps along the way". She checked with me at four different opportunities to insure that she was removing the correct amount, and that I was receiving they type of cut that I wanted. I appreciated her patience and putting me at ease in this enviroment. She was able to cut my hair with just scissors and a comb; other places I have been have always had to use a clippers on the sides of my head. She textured it very well which resulted in a very soft feeling cut. As for the speed, I think I was done within 15 minutes. Simple decor and straight forward environment. I loved seeing the man next to me get a straight razor shave. That is a dying craft and I am glad to see this barber shop is keeping it alive. read more

I walked in this afternoon, no appointment made, the barbers acknowledged me right away. A welcoming barber shop that's for sure. The barber who cut my hair (Amel is his name) asked a few questions such as how did you hear about us, where did you get your haircut before coming here etc... showed him a picture of what I wanted. He assessed my hair. I came to this barber shop in hopes of a decent cut. I read the reviews all were great I said alright let me give them a try because the last barber at a different shop who cut my hair, I was not happy with the outcome. From Amel's reaction my previous cut was REALLY BAD. Lol. I knew this though that's why I came here. He went in and did what he does.
