After my second c-section, I was hesitant to enter a yoga studio. But I've heard it said that sometimes we need yoga the most when we want it the least. I am glad, that with some encouragement from my husband to do something I once enjoyed, I found my way back on the mat. When I landed there at Sanctuary Power Yoga, I found a piece of the peace I'd been seeking. Heather and her amazing team have been incredibly supportive. Always welcoming, they have encouraged me during my personal health journey and celebrated wins along the way--yes, even when I joyfully exclaimed "I did a push-up!" at the end of class. I appreciate the gentle reminders that are provided throughout any class to listen to your body, let go of comparison, and approach each practice with grace. "In your own time, in your own way." The spacious yoga studio full of mats is quite a sight! A truly awesome place that brings together a booming supportive community that expands beyond those walls. I loved the outdoor classes at the park and lake this summer with birds swooping in to join. Yoga has somehow become a part of my regular routine, not just for my body, but for my mind and spirit. Some days getting on the mat are easier than others but consistently leaving feeling better is great motivation to keep coming back. With gratitude I encourage anyone and everyone interested to give Sanctuary Power Yoga a try- whatever class you decide, settle in on the mat and find yourself. Potentially the best yoga in the Connecticut. Heather provides a calm, "go at your own pace'' peaceful atmosphere. The space is clean with ample space in a calm setting. Each class is just a bit different allowing for a self paced, continuous workout for mind and body. Definitely my go to in the NW corner. read more

Yelpers in the torrington area who do yoga, you need to get to this studio! I've been coming to this studio for over a year and love this space! Heather is an amazing person, instructor and yogi! She has such great energy and has done a lot to build the community at this space! I've been doing yoga on and off for 15 years. The only other space where I felt the same energy and community was East Meets West in Buffalo Elmwood location. In the past year, guest yoga instructors were invited for special workshops. I had a free weekend for one of these special workshops and really enjoyed it. The latest addition to the schedule is a children's class on Saturdays. I hear from fellow classmates that they really are glad for this addition and come with their kids or grandkids! During the summer, it's really cool to switch up the thursday class to the outdoor space to coincide with the Torrington's thursday night street fair. I've been going Sanctuary Power Yoga on and off for 4 years now. The studio is really beautiful and inviting and so are the community of folks who practice here. All ages, body types, and levels of fitness are welcome. Heather and the other instructors are knowledgeable and helpful. I really like the heated room. It's not so hot that I feel claustrophobic, but warm enough to ease into the poses. Classes are not only offered in studio, but also on-line so that you can practice in the comfort of your own home or while traveling. I normally don't post reviews especially during the "Pandemic"as I feel business's had just enough to survive .I have been taking Yoga at Sanctuary for the past four years mostly with Heather the owner and some of the other instructors .Let me first say i am a very active cyclist ,runner ,swimmer and outdoors person.I have also practiced Yoga during vacations all around the US and Europe .The instructors have been been good but each Monday during Power Yoga with Heather i can really see the difference. Not only is Heather very friendly but her ability to instruct all abilities of people practicing makes everyone comfortable in there space on there matt. The building in which Sanctuary is located is such a great space that has the feel of a building that invites all and any abilities to practice Yoga.As Torrington has just completed the Franklin Street walking area and plenty of safe parking I highly encourage you to Practice Yoga @Sanctuary and then you be the judge. It's difficult to say anything bad about yoga practice, but the routine is too fast, no cautious words to make modifications or pose improvements. I hurt my shoulder from this practice and ended up having surgery and a year of physical therapy. I have been practicing for over 8 years and am in good shape so this experience was an eye opener. I will stick with 26&2 hot yoga. read more

Finally there is a decent yoga studio in Torrington. If you looking for a work out in a clean and friendly place this can be for you. Heather is wonderful and her staff has been consistent ,so you feel comfortable knowing your practice has a stable environment. Also the ways you can buy classes is very fair and reasonable. It is not for every-body. I'm a former dancer, in good shape. Now that I've been elsewhere, I can say they explained nothing. Even for a yoga studio, where that's sorta the norm, this place could do better in helping people not injure themselves. I didn't go back because I was afraid I'd get hurt. If you want to sweat more than breathe, and don't mind trying stuff without understanding how to actually do it, this might be for you. read more

I'm visiting CT for a month for school and wanted to get back into yoga. I've done yoga since I was a kid but stopped about 5 years ago. This was such a great place to get back in the swing of things. Heather, I think the owner, is great. She is one of my favorite yoga teachers ever. The studio has wood floors and is clean. They warm the room but not too hot. They have 2 bathrooms, 1 has a shower. She also sells yoga mats and things. I picked up a new yoga mat while practicing there.
