Good tacos, a little pricey but good. Looks like they are more known for their aguas frescas.

The Quessabirria looked amazing but only tasted of grease which dripped freely all over everything. The carne asada burrito was ok. The meat didn't really stand out and it only tasted of beans, lettuce and sour cream. The two things that were good were the two pork taco options. The pork carnitas had the most amazing texture I've ever been lucky to try. It was moist and crunchy from the flat top. It is definitely worth giving this meat choice a try in anything they have. The true star though was the Adobada tacos. They were amazing. There was tons of meat with so much flavor. These were the best Adobada I've ever had anywhere. I think the highs were very high but the lows were just as low. They have decent salsas but if you can't take a good bit of heat you won't be able to handle even the weakest one. Definitely worth checking out.

The habanero was nice but my favorite was the red salsa that was Smokey and hot. The menu was very simple and it was quick to order. If you do come around lunch time expect to wait a bit as it gets very busy around then.

Here I was, at noon, and I'm the only customer in a room that can seat +50 or more. Red flag, but I trusted an Elite Yelper who sounded off on how good the food is/was. Decided to try the basics - two tacos (one chorizo, one carnitas), a carne asada Torta, and rice/beans. The chorizo was the best of all, the pork was dry and tasteless, the Torta was on fresh bread but meat lacked flavor and only two tiny avocado slices (pieces). Rice was dry and beans were just okay. Tried using both their red and green sauces which didn't help much. As Simon of AGT would say, "Ah, sorry but this is a no for me." With five other Mexican restaurants within walking distance, I don't see how this place can stay open.

They don't have a ton of decor or booths etc but with our help they will get there. Looks completely family owned and operated. I should have gotten pictures of the menu but next time. The menu is written on a white board and full of the staples. Mexican food is the same 6 ingredients rolled, wrapped, folded, fried or layered with flour or corn tortillas and they've got the basics covered. All the meats I picked were delicious and I was very pleased that they use regular corn tortillas instead of the smaller variety that's traditionally used. I refuse to use the term street tacos because that's just white folks way of describing an authentic taco to differentiate that from a white taco commonly found in any cafeteria ever or Taco Bell for example. Pretty sure we don't put street in front of hot dogs , pretzels or snow cones etc. Anyway. This place is worth checking out. Give it a try or allow it to turn into another vape shop.

You know, those ethnic cuisines whose dreamers go through all that to finally achieve a vision--only to be closed down in less than a couple of years--see it all the time. Yeah well, that ain't Morenita's. I'm sure they put in the hard work, but they've had that hole-in-the-wall vibe location for going on 36 years now. Going strong today cuz they're doin one thing right--everything! They did the time as that hidden gem, serving authentic Michoacán recipes. Keeping food comin out fast and affordable, they consistently served excellence to in-the-know locals. Those locals--their loyals, made Morenita's what it is today--the oldest Mexican eatery in town--the survivor--an Idaho Falls institution. Now, Morenita's is still doin it, with many days of lunchtime being like walking in moments after stocks open on Wall Street. But, for real, the experience is a fiesta. When you're ready to order there is no communication gap. She helped us out with high energy--talkative, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be there--nice change. The menu, while presented as authentic, is easily catered to Americanized taste buds. They have a variety of drinks, and wide selection of beers (pretty sure all bottled). So to start, I ordered myself a Modelo Especial. Also, the Breakfast Burrito without potatoes, smothered in cheese and green sauce. That's one thing I don't like about Mexican food breakfast burritos--too much potato, but they fixed it up for me. For a final touch, I ordered a Chile Relleno a la carte. I wanted to add a coffee, which was on the menu, but when I asked for it I was informed all they had was instant. I'm not sure if this is all the time, but that's just...no thanx lol. With a buzzer in hand to alert you to come pick up your food, you go find a table. They are pretty busy, and keep the price down by not running it out to your table. The dining room is not very big, with multiple bench tables big enough to seat like five each. The atmo: Well, not horrible, but a little tooo shared, and cafeteria-like. It was ok, not loud, I could hear who was with me (she gave 5 stars). It's kinda bright and open, but at the same time--chill. The other dine-in customers were totally at ease--completely used to it. Anyway, our buzzer went off, and grabbing the food was quick and easy. The moment of truth: I started with my Breakfast Burrito. They had added extra egg and cheese to replace the potato, filling up the massive fresh tortilla, without extra charge. The first bite took me back to Wall Street, like selling stocks at the right time--total payout! OMGosh it was sooo tasty. The Relleno is maybe the tops in Idaho Falls. Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with a smothered green chile & cheese, but some manage to. Despite my initial apprehension about the atmosphere, I was totally comfortable scarfing down my meal. My usual beer even tasted better there. The food is great, better than many full-scale places. The service is fun and upbeat, and the prices are very competitive. I'm going to do my part to help Morenita's stay around for another 36 years. My highest fast-casual Mexican food rating. Super-Scale 8* Most fast-casual places don't have coffee anyway!
