He is creating art that blows my mind. He looks forward to every class and is always learning something new. This antique shop is not quite like the others…read more First, it's a second generation shop (passed from mother to son) and has been around for decades. They specialize in antiques mostly 100+ years old. But what is really special (given that you're not in a rush) is the shopkeeper/owner Michael. He is quite a character and is always willing to share his knowledge on anything you ask regarding antiques. He is very quirky but has a very sweet and earnest demeanor. He can talk about just watches for an hour + and never rushes you out. I think his life goal is to saturate his visitors with knowledge! Also noteworthy is that this building is a protected historical site because it used to be the old Metuchen firehouse. If you ask (and sometimes if you don't ask), he'll give you the full tour (a nice history lesson, no charge). If you like learning about historical buildings, make sure you stop here! There is one thing that might need mentioning though--- the shop was on hiatus for a few years so there is some deterioration on the walls and it's a bit more cluttered than it used to be. So do pardon the appearances--- but don't fret about that as if you tell him what you're looking for, he'll probably be able to direct you to the correct pieces! PS. It also helps to call his number just to make sure he'll be there!
