Our server was kind enough to allow us to practice our French when we placed our order. She patiently listened and offered corrections, which we most welcomed. When I visit Dijon again, I will definitely return to this place.

It's just a short walk from the noisier, pricier, and more touristy cafes on the Place de la Liberation, right at the end of a slightly unlikely looking street (as the name suggests). The server and cook were friendly and helpful to eaters with imperfect French. The server explained that they'd been serving their menu for 23 years. Everyone in the place when we ate there was having some version of the house specialty: moules frites --- mussels with French fries --- and it would seem pointless to go there for anything else. The menu includes about a dozen variants on the same theme: a large basin of fresh mussels with broth at the bottom. We had two versions and both were superb. The fries are piping hot and "a volontir": as much as you want, so you can readily soak up broth and fill any empty spaces with them. Top it off with some yeasty Belgian beer and you're very good to go. Yelp's price estimate of under 10 euros is simply incorrect, by the way. Our meals ran about 16 euros each, including beer; add a dessert and you'll push 20 euros. But that's still an excellent deal in the Dijon context.

When they are producing mustard, you may shed a few tears and clear your sinuses because the mustard seed burns! We did not make the connection that this was a Dijon-region manufacturer until we were looking up mustard tours & this came up. No brainer! Learned about the traditional Dijon recipe and the other mustards calling themselves Dijon but there were no governing laws around this so unless you know the "real" difference & taste the real thing.......just saying Edmund Fallot uses only mustard seeds from Baune and is solely and completely made in the Dijon region The mustard is all made on that site using a huge stone to grind the seeds & their processing room was available for us to look through the windows.....and let me tell you, those mustard fumes were super strong! Bring a tissue for the inevitable tears......but it was well worth it for the deliciousness you were about to enjoy Adding such treats like walnut, truffle, honey & a whole lot of others, you cannot go wrong with a jar or 23 like we picked up
